This is not my first time experiencing this. I only come here for things that are for the home and snacks.But for some reason, I decided to come here a few times to try to get a meat for dinner. The last time I bought frozen chicken wings and when I got home, I can't even describe what parts of the bird was in the pack.And today, I went and got a pack of pork chops, and the smell when I sliced the package open was unbearable. When I went to take the chicken back, they were like if you didn't have the receipt, there's nothing they can do about it.Which is insane?The packaging was there.And today, I happened to have the receipt for the pork chops, and as soon as I sat the bag in front of the cashier.She immediately covered her nose. She went and got the manager who's in charge of the meat, and she specifically said that that package of meat has been sitting since yesterday. Sitting where I have no idea, but you could tell it was sitting somewhere that was not cool. The only reason I got my refund is because I had my receipt. I have been a customer for years now. The only reason I go to this store is because it is close to me. The owners are quite rude at times, being selective as to whom they want to say "hi" to. You will be ignored if you are not their "favorite " customer. A lot of times, the price is different at the resister so, be careful. There are more than a few occasions, they double scanned my items so, another thing to worry about. I will receive a receipt just to make sure. I love shopping at Grocery Outlet on Campo Road but I'm asking if anyone has a problem with the produce they buy there. I'm referring to spoilage before the expiration date? I learned not to buy any produce that is bagged. My mini cucumbers spoiled in 2 days after purchase and the expiration date was a week after, giving me enough time to use . They are the best! While I was trying to figure out how much 12 Propel Protein bottles would cost, a young man asked if I needed help. So nice! It would've been helpful when I took the groceries to the car, which is a service they provide. They also offer unique items, like soda that has probiotics - 3 cans for $1.00! The ginger fizz is delicious; not too sweet and not spicy hot with the essence of ginger. And the San Francisco whole bean coffee - 32 ounces for $12.99. Excellent price! I frequent this store since it's right. Down the hill from my house and have had minor issues but nothing major that I needed to complain about until today that is. I purchased a salmon filet with garlic butter from the refrigerated section located at the front of the store on Sunday 05/11. It's been properly refrigerated since I was going to cook it today 05/13. The package was vacuum sealed and had a use or freeze by date of 05/17. When I cut the corner of the plastic so that I could peel it off and pop it in the air fryer. A putrid smell came out! The filet was bad!! I used Apple Pay as a method to pay and knew which register I'd made my purchase at so we walked down there to see if they would replace it. I did not was a refund because I was planning on cooking this for dinner. The "Manager" was called for a refund. When she walked over I told her I was not looking for a refund. I only wanted it replaced. The salmon matched all the others still in the refrigerated section at the front of the store. I showed her the charge and told her that I'd made the purchase at register 1. The time of the purchase is listed on my Apple Pay bank charge as well. She went to someone else and returned to me pointing to some yellow paper hanging from the register. Something about a refund without a receipt. Already annoyed because she wasn't listening. I told her keep the rotten fish and I left. The $8.99 wasn't worth the argument. As I mentioned before I frequent this store a lot so I'm sure they recognize my face and could have pulled the receipt with the exact date and time provided. I've seen them do it. To dismiss someone after your establishment sold them rotten food is insane and HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! It's obvious that fish had been there a lot longer than shown in the packaging. read more

Buuuuut I noticed that it's really tight in the store, they have huge carts and its annoying that we have to back up for someone to come thru/pass. At the entrance between the cash register and some spring stuff, It's super tight. Also, by the milk area, they have clothes racks. super tight and annoying. We don't usually shop at the Spring Valley Grocery Outlet -- well off our beaten path -- but we had to be in the area the other day and decided to check it out. The store was neat, clean and orderly, with well-stocked shelves. The wine selection was good but lacked most of our GO-to favorites. Store associates were friendly and helpful. Came here to browse and check out this grocery outlet. and I was surprised they have a huge selection of Protein supplements. Amazing! We bought protein bars and they were 2 for $1.00. Wow! normally those are $2.00-3.00. Protein powders are half the price. Huge discount!!! I was a little bit excited and they have a huge wine selection as well. If you're looking for wine bargain this is the place. We also bought some toiletries. I was happy pretty good deal. One more thing I did find an Organic section at this store. and wow oh wow a big jar of Coconut oil for $9.99 say what??? those big ones price range from $25-30.00 at Costco or other grocery stores. I used cooking oil for all my cooking stuff. I usually buy it at Trader Joes or Sprouts. Overall, nice bargain they also have snacks section and few organic fruits and vegetables section too. This store is pretty good except for the cashiers that can't be bothered to bag customers' groceries, and when they do, they indiscriminately throw everything in a bag like it doesn't matter if items get smashed- talking about you Ana. I wish this Grocery Outlet was as nice as the Chula Vista and Mission Gorge locations. Today was a good day with selections but what I didn't like was I heard the overhead to sign up for their savings and when it came time to pay the employee said he couldn't accept the online coupon and it had to be physically printed. I just went in this evening to look for a nice bottle of wine for New Year's Eve. Their selection was not very good so my wife and I walked out without purchasing a bottle. As we walked out the door a lady cashier who was helping someone else came running after us asking if we had wine and we indicated we did not. She then proceeded to open my wife's purse without asking in front us and all the other customers in the store and finds no wine in her purse. Very unprofessional rude and embarrassing and unless you want to be accused of shoplifting without any reason don't shop here. read more

There are always some awesome deals at this location. There is always plenty of yogurt and it varies from 2 for a dollar to 3 for a dollar. You can't beat the price. They have great pierogies, you get 24 for $1.99 and they have multiple varieties. One of the better Grocery Outlets. (I am a Grocery Outlet "tourist"--I enjoy checking out the various Grocery Outlets and seeing what they offer.) During the Covid19 quarantine: *The floors were marked with arrows "suggesting" a one way path through the store. (Not that all the patrons were following, but enough were to make it safer.) *One line leading to the cashiers with social distancing marked off. *Restroom is open to the public, so you can wash up. *Let me bring my backpack in as long as I didn't use it for packing the groceries. As with all GOs, it is hit and miss about what is available. And maybe 5% of the goods were not labeled with prices. And need to scan the reciept as items may not have wrong correctly (I got a half dozen little bags of chips for like 4 for $1 that rang up at $2 apiece.) But I've picked up cartons of milk and protein drinks that my teen loves for less than half of the grocery stores. A bonus is that the Dollar Tree in the same shopping center is one of the better ones. My wife enjoys shopping the DT while I hit the GO. :-) read more

My wife and I thoroughly enjoy this store. I guess it's because we like a good deal and wine. Their cheese and deli meats selection varies but as a whole you can't go wrong. we've tried cheese that we would normally not purchase , and find out we love it . Not always but most the time. We can talk about wine all day mostly when were drinking. but their selection/ variety is very very good. Again trying wines we normally wouldn't give a second glance, then going back to buy a few more. and were saving a bundle. Contrary to the FEW nay sayers this is a GREAT place to shop. This was the first time I've ever entered this supermarket, and I've got to say I was pretty excited! This place is a mix between the dollar tree and a smart and final. Stuff that could be considered "in bulk" at really low prices. I saw a tube of mayo for 99 cents, and almost freaked out. How could things be so cheap here?! I was gonna throw it in my cart, but I examined it closer. It was past the expiration date. I didn't end up buying it, but I did end up checking every package for expiration dates before putting it in my cart. Just a tip for ya! I did manage to buy a variety of snacks all with expiration dates months away. You can snag some pretty awesome deals here for some quality stuff! I didn't buy any produce or meat, just non perishables. I ended up spending less than $25 on plenty of snacks, and according to my receipt I saved over $35 on my purchase! Yay! I was in spring valley with my family the other day and some of us decided to grab some snacks here. Grocery outlet is always a snack heaven to me, so I was excited to see what the spring valley store had to offer. They didn't have as much as the Santee and El Cajon locations, but they did have the basics like the chips, sunflower seeds and seaweed snacks I get. I saw a chicken tikka masala kit here for $1.50, so I decided to grab that while I was here too. Employees were very nice, good location. read more

I used to like this store until I had to return an item. The return item I had just bought from another Grocery Outlet near my work, mind you this store also has the exact item on their shelf at the same price. They told me they couldn't accept the return because all grocery outlet stores are independently owned, I will need to go back to that store where I purchased it. Considering they have a corporation's name, this company is backing them and they are nation wide--I think it's crazy how they have this policy and it's definitely NOT stated on their receipts. I won't be coming to this location ever again. I shop here a lot too since it is closer to my house. I think it is crazy and perhaps corporate office needs to look into this because it's not very customer oriented. I didn't get mad or give attitude, I just said okay and left my cart. I hear that darn jingle for Grocery Outlet and it gets stuck in my head for days. It's so goofy and annoying and I might've been singing it against my will. One day I was in the area after running an errand nearby and out of curiosity I pulled into the lot and parked the mom mobile. I was determined to find this place a lost cause, like the jingle. Instead I ended up being pleasantly surprised by a decent selection of organic produce and grocery items for ridiculous cheap prices. They do have a lot of regular staples here too like bread, milk, eggs, canned goods, frozen foods, and cheese. Lots of cheese. The selection of items varies, and you need to check expiration dates, but I do that everywhere because a lot of places have been known to leave expired food out for sale. They sell vitamins and toys, blankets, kitchen gadgets, pet food, lots of odd little doo dads. They also have a lot of wine for sale. No liquor, but a lot of wine. There's a small amount of beer, and lots of wine. I mostly just pick up some organic produce, organic cheese, and cage free eggs. If my lil dude is with me then he asks for the Annie's snacks. He loves those bunny crackers :-). Service is always really good. They're friendly here. Whoever is in the front greets you, and the cashier is always friendly. If you're walking around the store the employees will check to see if you need assistance. It's been consistent every time I've been. The one thing I will note is there is no cart returns in the parking lot, so you need to return them back to the front of the store, or you can be lazy like other shoppers and leave them by your car. read more

I'm giving 4 stars for what this is - a discount grocery store. This isn't my go-to store, but they have a lot of interesting items. I stopped by a couple weeks ago and I was disappointed that they weren't very busy - found out it was opening day. So, such an usual variety of items. So far my favorite deal is a 6.3 oz package of Cracker Barrel extra sharp reduced fat Cracker Cuts for $1.99. Perfect for parties. Last week they had some So Delicious coconut milk "yogurts". Cheap. I was excited to find Dudley's bread but the garlic sourdough I bought was so-so. Not sure if it was a bit past its prime (though not at its expiration date) or just that there are so many artisan breads out there now that it's not so exciting anymore. The best thing is that so far, all of the employees have been very enthusiastic, friendly, and helpful. I'll definitely be returning to see what new item pops up. It's fun! read more

WARNING!!! This store's return policy is not fair at all and will eventually hurt them. I bought a bag of frozen strawberries and another with blueberries. We opened one of the bags at home and we were very disappointed with the quality; to say the least. I tried to return them and they told me that perishables are non returnable. They said that their return policy describing perishables is on the receipt; which, it is not. They wouldn't even give me store credit. So now, they just lost a longtime customer. I've never had any problems with Walmart or Smart /Final, when returning perishable items. Which is why these big stores are so successful. read more

For me, Grocery Outlet does have a neat selection at a bargain price but don't expect certain items to be common if you return. Example, their Oatmilk which sold for $1, I was hoping to purchase a handful but unfortunately they didn't carry them anymore.
