I thought the store was pretty well kept and I certainly did find some bargains , as I always do at Ross, however, today is about Maria. She is a clerk in the store. That is awesome.! My daughter (15) and I came here for back to school clothes shopping. She was able to sort through a ton of clothes and find a few great items. I felt like I got a fantastic deal on her clothes because most of the items were around $6! She was happy and so was I :) I didn't rate it 5 stars because the cashier wasn't the nicest. read more

I just came in to return a shirt that was $24.99 but I lost the receipt so the store only gave 16.00? But then when I tried to take my shirt back they wouldn't give it to me cause it's now $24.99?! This has NEVER happened before! I have lost the receipt once before and they gave my the whole amount back. The manager (Diane I believe it's her name, she was the old woman) did NOTHING to help, was screaming at me and just gave so BS excuse as to why that happened and wanted to give me even LESS!?, the cashier was only one nice and trying to solve the problem. My daughter met an Angel today, her name was Tonya and she works at the Ross in Layton Utah. My daughter had the WORST day at school today, and had an incident that was a big misunderstanding. She was having a rough day, and her birthday is next week so I decided to take her out shopping for some new birthday clothes. As soon as we got up to the register Tonya asked her what was wrong, she didn't look sad but I think she could feel her energy. We talked about how her child's 24th birthday is the day before hers.. Half of my daughter's age. She began talking to her about how sweet and beautiful she is and how she's so mature. We told her about her bad day and she was so sweet and encouraging. My daughter had asked for a giant Ferrero Rocher that I was reluctant to buy. Tonya took out her wallet and bought it for her with her own money. She completely changed her day around and made her feel like someone important. She encouraged her to keep her tender heart and never change, even in this ugly world we live in sometimes. It really brought tears to my eyes and made me see that there are not only good people in the world, but angels. Put into our path at the right time. I don't know why I even return to this store. Apparently, they don't want customers to purchase large items or several items because we are unable to take the carts outside - such an inconvenience. And! I asked for two hangers. Just two. And was told, No, because they use them. But two? Prices are pretty good but lately, the items shown in their commercials seem much nicer than what's actually in the store. read more

I went into the store to return a thing I bought previously, I had the receipt and everything but they tried telling me that the thing I bought was in a pack of two even though I only purchase it with one. They then begin to tell me that they don't return undergarments even though there's no sign or anything stating that it's non-returnable. The stores are fine, but I'd really like to know about the growing trend when you walk into the store, a cashier or security guy screams "WELCOME TO ROSS!!" reeeeally? Whyyy? It's like a surprise party & it needs to stop. They're all gonna give me heart attack! All customers pause..... turn to watch who's walking through the doors.... I'm not 'in the spotlight' kind of gal & it's causing me anxiety to even want to go shopping. If you like the rare sighting of a manager on the floor (especially when he reeks of booze) then you won't like this store because you will literally never find management on the floor. There are some good finds and the store itself is kept relatively clean. You'll wait in line for an hour even if you only have one item because no one wants to work here. read more

The store itself I love, and I have found some great stuff here! I bought 8 awesome dress shirts here yesterday in fact, but I am not impressed with some of the employees here. Some are very good, but others are unprofessional, or just outright rude. One specific lady that was on dressing room duty once when I came here would seem pissed that you wanted to try something on or get upset that you had so many things to try on. I believe I was trying 6 things on, and their max. amount @ a time is 8, so it's not like I was breaking any rules.. She's just plain rude and makes dumb comments. I think this particular Ross is simply struggling to find good people when they only pay minimum wage, they are always, always hiring. If you need a job, come here and maybe you can improve my experiences with the customer service here! read more

I come to this Layton Ross at least 2-3 times a month, almost weekly honestly. I shop here for my entire family from clothes, shoes, accessories and home decor. We always find the best deals. Out of all the home decors stores (TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods) that I shop at, Ross always beats the best deals. They always have beautiful selection of clothes from designer items and shoes throughout the entire year. This place is always well organized, the staff has always been really helpful and friendly. There's a lady who works the fitting room that is the sweetest lady ever, no matter what day of the week I go, what time of the day it is, she always has a huge smile on her face and greets everyone even when the store gets busy and chaotic, she stays sweet and calm. Love her and she deserves recognition for it. I can't get enough of Ross. read more

I came 3 minutes past opening and they weren't open still. Not a big deal and completely understandable.. but one of the employees came to the door and said "give us a few minutes" later came back and let me in without saying a word. It made me feel really awkward and inconvenient for her. read more

I will never shop at this store again. We love Ross and have been shoppers for many years. My daughters (who happen to be Hispanic) went there this last Sunday to shop for my youngest daughter's dress for her drill team end of year performance. The moment they entered the store an female employee followed them everywhere, to include following them into the dressing room, she then proceeded to watch them while my daughter tried on the dresses. When they left the dressing room she made them hang up all the dresses (to include the one she wanted) and counted them and checked the sensors. She then followed them through the shoe department and all the way back to the register. Then she stood at the door and watched them pay. They were not the only young ladies in the store either but they were the only ones that were treated in this manor. This is discrimination and racial profiling at its best. We have tried to reach a manager or general manager for the last week and there never seems to be one around. read more
