I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was beyond unacceptable. I visited the Oxon Hill, MD location on a Saturday morning and waited in line for over 2.5 hours--along with approximately 50-60 other customers--while only ONE employee was operating the entire store and register. We were told that multiple staff members called out, leaving a single manager ("One") to handle everything alone. While I empathize with the employee, this reflects a serious failure in management and corporate planning by Ross Stores. There was no backup support, no urgency to resolve the situation, and no communication to customers about how it would be addressed. A 2.5-hour wait to check out is not just inconvenient--it's unreasonable and raises concerns about customer safety, store security, and employee conditions. One customer was elderly utilizing assisted walking device. They didn't announce cashier shortages until 2 hours into our waiting in line. If the items that I was picking up were not urgent, I would've walked out and many people did. This experience completely changed how I view this location. I strongly urge corporate to review staffing practices and implement contingency plans so customers are not subjected to this level of neglect. I hope this is taken seriously, as no customer should have to go through this. read more

I was telling my husband today. I like Ross but I will not go to the one on Oxon Hill Road anymore. Back in August my girlfriend and I were getting stuff for my niece for school and my girlfriend and she hit the security guard by mistake with the cart (definitely a mistake) and he called he a bitch...as if that wasn't bad enough his boss came up and co- signed his mess..smh. They are not the most friendly in there to begin with and then top it off with a dose of insult in the customers face. Of course she called the store to complain but who knows what happened if anything at all. Best I can do is not spend my money where my service is not valued. read more

The good news is that you can find great bargains in a variety of sizes. The disappointing news is that you may have to wait a while before paying. I was thrilled that the dressing rooms were open. During the pandemic lots of stores closed them. The dressing room employee was nice. I saw a few employees on the floor while looking for clothes. When I first got in line to pay, there were two register employees up front. They suddenly left without looking at the line forming or directing customers to another register. There was no sense of urgency. When it was my turn to pay, I suggested that the employee call for more cashiers. He told me to apply. read more

Applied at the Ross in oxon hill, didn't walk me through training correctly, had me running with a schedule working afternoon to night when I was only hired as a morning shift, yaya the manager HATES helping people especially the employees. Treated horribly at this establishment. Only to be told "am I sure I worked here at the oxon hill location " after asking why I didn't get paid for the days I worked to being told to put me on hold to hanging up and not responding back to me once I called again. If you're looking for a job don't work here!! They will not pay you for your time and hours !! read more

Ok, the security guard who is always there does flirt relentlessly with the customers. At least, I think that what he's doing. He will target certain people and keep making his presence known. This has been a major annoyance in the past but I just block him out, give him no attention and look for the deals. This is a smaller Ross, it is pretty organized imo. Because it's so small compared to other Ross stores some of the nicer merchandise runs out. I can say without a doubt it's better than waldorf in terms of variety, organization and quality. I ALWAYS find some cute stuff The handbag area is always stocked. Home goods (towels, sheets) is okay, it's small. The home ware (glasses, dishes) always has little treasures. Do not come here for curtains or rods, they never have any.....very little to choose. The women's knits and tops are on fire. They have some good brand represented, but you will need to be patient and dig through. Women's shoes are plentiful. Good selection of bra for small cup sizes, nothing for bigger cups tho. They have a huge juniors sections. Men's section isn't bad with a good selection of shoes and sizes. I would say my biggest complaints have been the cashiers and customers. The lines can be out of this world long and the cashiers always seem frustrated. They aren't very friendly, but I can live with that. The customers are some of the rudest I have ever come across, especially in the dress section. They will literally rip a dress from your hand if they like it. At least on two occasions, ladies have grabbed something of mine's right in my face. We kinda just laughed it off, but they are super aggressive in this section. This location is worth a quick drive by. I always find close parking. Do not attempt to come to this location too close to closing, that security officer mention earlier will not let you in.......and he does it with a smirk. The restroom is absolutely filthy. This is the worst Department store I've ever been. Manager and cashiers are rude. One lady cashier was arrogant to the old man exchanging his item and couldn't speak much English. Merchandise are everywhere unorganized worse than a thrift store. They need customer service training. read more

The OXON HILL store wasn't in the best of shape to just had opened. None of the shoes were together all in shambles and the rest of the store was pretty much the same. The kicker was when I went to pay for my items the Latino lady at the register proceeded to dump the pants in a bag, without folding any of them. I told her excuse me but why are you dumping those pants in the bag without folding them. She stated because we don't get paid enough to fold clothes, so my supervisor told me not to fold them just toss them in the bag. I stopped her on a dime and said first of all when someone is not happy with pay in a job you don't take it out on the customers. You LEAVE that job and find something that makes you happy. Second the attitude is going to rub someone the wrong way and after spending my coins you dare to say you can fold them up if you want. NO, that's YOUR JOB! By now I was irritated but it doesn't stop here. I'm tired of going out of my neighborhood for quality service that should be given in any store you spend your money in. We don't need trashy unhappy individuals greeting customers with attitudes when we are spending our hard-earned money!! read more

Assistant manager was rude has no customer service training I waited patiently at the jewelry counter for 15 min when she got to the counter instead of accommodating me she starts a conversation with the security officer behind me. I walked in and the security guy was serenading a customer. Sigh. Inside, things appeared open and neat. The racks were a tad bare, but we are talking about Ross here. I was in the store to return a dress Id purchased the previous day (I tore off the tags and just as I was about to slip the very cute strapy dress over my head, I saw a big hole at the bottom of the dress. I fake cried very dramatically.) The transaction was fairly quick. I told the rep that I was returning an item, she took the bag without saying a word and scanned the bar code. "Scan your card ma'am". Then it was over. I wasn't impressed, yet I wasn't disturbed either. I was just ready to get out if the store. Will I be back? The cashiers are very rude. I was just looking at items in the line and I didn't realize that I was up next and the cashier was yelling at me to ring up when not even 30 seconds had passed. I also asked one of the employees to help me with the perfume since it was locked and she seemed annoyed that she had to open the anti stealing boxes which was her job. I purchased 3 candles and a few other clothing items. The candles were not wrapped correctly (I was unaware) and not double bagged. One of the candles fell out of the bag and broke in the parking lot as I left the store. I was informed that I could not get a replacement or refund since it didn't happen inside the store. Sigh, I don't know what it is about Ross stores but this specific one here in Fort Washington is not very enjoyable to browse through. Still on my quest to find nice, proper black leather gloves - I found no joy here. This store in particular seems to attract a lot of shoppers who are loud and make it a point to want their flaky business to be heard by everyone around them for a five-mile radius. They make the time spent pouring through the disorganized racks more of an ordeal than it already is, and rather uncomfortable. The men's section is rather lacking. They rarely have the size I'm looking for in so far as trousers go, but I have had a bit better luck with shirts. They stock more sports apparel than anything else, so presumably is reflective of the age (and taste) demographic of this area. There are also several parts of shelves or racks that can be empty or just messy, and again be a put-off when you particularly harbour a hope of easily putting your hand on the right-fit pair of trousers or shirt and then making a bee-line for the tills. No chance here, mate. That's the other great disappointment here - despite low foot traffic, there is usually a queue formed at the tills, and with only one cashier on-hand ready to extend her painfully obvious displeasure and lack of interest in helping you exit the door with a satisfactory look on your face. The security guards also seem to have a complete lack of interest in anything other than standing at their wee pedestal by the front doors and whiling away the time. Question for you readers: do you know why the security guards don't stare out the windows in the morning? Answer: so they'll have something to do in the afternoon. :/ Part of the fun of shopping at a place like Ross or Marshall's and other retailers of this ilk is supposed to be the satisfaction of finding a wee bargain. Despite the potentially low prices however, I'm finding it difficult these days to frequent this specific Ross when there doesn't seem to be a concerted effort by store management to demonstrate they actually want to generate sales and provide a great service in exchange. read more

This poor little strip mall gets the bottom of the barrel pickings when it comes to merchandise and this Ross is no exception. There were entire shelves with only 1-3 items. This makes me sad considering this particular building cannot seem to find a franchise to commit. It has been 2 other stores before. Two security guards - no greeting, just rapping about the day before, and why two guards? Are they guarding the two pieces of merchandise that's in the store... too much too little. read more

I walked in the store at 6:30pm. They close at 7pm. I understand workers wants to go home. But, that doesn't give them the right to be rushing people out at 6:30pm. I had this lady I believe she was the manager kept telling me I had "30 mins left, 20 mins left, 10 mins left". It was really unfair anywhere I go I had her coming to me telling me how many mins I have left. That's so RUDE. Poor customer service. In the lane everyone was soo close in together apparently they aren't strict about 6ft apart due to COVID-19. When it was my turn the cashier didn't even greeted me. Which you should always do.
