So I've been to this location a few times. Ya it's not the nicest Ross around but if you live out this way it's close and relatively clean. My problem is in the last 5 times I've gone they do not have enough cashiers working. It's always one or two. Sometimes there was three but that was rare. Ok maybe they can't have too many people working, but then there is always two to three people walking around, I'm assuming one is manager, stockers etc. is it the policy of the company or the store that one of those people can't jump on register when the line is literally wrapping around? I will say this the lady who works the security, as in you wait at the front door and she lets you in based I think on how many people are inside already is always very friendly and nice. The thing that pissed me off the most that last time I was there was after I waited to go inside, then waited like 25 min to check out, the other male security guard asked for my receipt before I could leave...when did this turn into Costco??? I've never been asked for one at literally any other Ross store, and you know what maybe I wouldn't have been so annoyed if I didn't have to wait so long on line. Here's the kicker he said to me, "you don't need to snatch it like that", excuse me? lol I actually didn't even realise I did but I just kept on walking cause what can I say at that point oh I didn't mean to, cause maybe subconsciously I did, then the other lady says god bless have a great day all snippy. Ross is one of those stores you not only go to for cheap clothing but also to just happen upon random items. I stumble in when I'm bored and just browse. Kind of like what most people do in Target. Staff: Needs a little work but what can you expect? Cheap clothes comes at a price of "you-get-what-you-paid-for" type of service. However they were kind enough to let me know that I forgot my card when I left the store. So stars for that. Also I hate lines. I guess it's at every location but man, Ross really should open more registers. There's always one or two open and a long line. Maybe on down time those cashiers can go and do go backs or clean? Then once there's a line go back to ringing things up. Store: the store can be a little cleaner and organized. Part of it is due to the customers not being considerate. The other part is not having employees (or enough employees) to come out and reorganize things and do go backs. I was looking for a hat and the one I was yes was found hanging on a random rack. Merchandise: As above, I found a hat on a random rack. It was one of two of the kind and I purchased them both for $10 a piece. Good deal. As with any clothing store you have to really look for a good piece but I'd say for me it's a hit or miss if you're trying to look decent. I'd say it's great for casual dress. 21 people currently line, and only two registers open. Thats bizzare to me, to say the least. They are also letting people making returns cut the very long line and go straight to the register. Prices are good, got a nice short sleeve dress shirt for under $7. Cant complain there. Store is a little messy, but not too bad. I was just thrown out of the Ross on Century Blvd., because I refused to show my DL/ID when I asked for the Tuesday Club Senior discount. It's illegal for them to ask but they did it because I got upset because the lazy, fat checker forgot to discount my purchases even though I asked for the discount BEFORE she started the checkout process. She got put out that she had to do a return and a repurchase BEFORE she got to go on break. I needed rain boots. So decided to go to Ross. Upon entering we were greeted by Lost Prevention. Friendly and professional. I didn't find boots but did find a comfortable pair of shoes. Approached the checkout counters. No one attending to any counter with the lights on which were #2 and #4. Lost Prevention looked at me and I signal with my hands indicating "hey, we're is the checkout personnel?" He then tell this young lady at the end of counter near exit you have customer waiting and she yelled out "Am putting my shoe on" she continued her conversation with a lady she was talking too. Another male employee approached the checkout area and she told him that he should buy those sandals for her cuz he had just got his income tax money so to buy them for her. He replied that that didn't matter. While am standing at the cash register #2 (light on for business) she makes her way to cash register #1 that's closed and continues her conversation with the male employee and didn't acknowledges me at all. Finally she grabbed the pair of shoes and while looking away continuing conversation with the other male employee regarding the sandals she said "that will be 16.30" I handed her a twenty dollar bill and she proceeded to make change still engaged in conversation with male employee. She gave me my change and I had to retrieved my own receipt because she was still engaged in her conversation regarding sandals. My partner and I are never stepping foot in here again. This incident Sunday, March 15th store 180, Reg: 01, Tran: 2551, Assoc: 955641. Maybe ROSS will check into it. She also needs a manicure a nail or two were missing others were very long. The same item that I had tried to return in Pleasant Hill, where the manager in P.Hill rejected bc it was purchased in Pittsburg, dumbo! Anyway, the Pittsburg sales associate / cashier helped me as much as she could, then I asked for a manager. The store is TRASHED and there ARE just empty racks and shelves all throughout the store. Not much variety.. it looks more like a INDOOR FLEA MARKET... It also doesn't help, that the security/loss prevention dude working on the first Monday in August, made our shopping experience any better. He keep looking at the people of color, like they were potential THIEVES.....EVEN THOUGH HE WAS A MAN OF COLOR himself.... They have a ton of different things here. I was pleasantly surprised when I paid it was $45 and I was sure it was at least $100. Went to this location on Thursday 4/25 , I am frequent shopper here at this location , the male security guard makes it a point to make you feel like when you walk in you MUST knowledge him which Is rude I came to shop not have to speak to you . Worst customer service ever. Yesterday, when I approached to the cash register the lady was so rude, she didn't response when I said Hi to her. She threw all the dresses that I purchased on the counter without folding it just because I didn't buy a bag. They judge people according to their appearance. They are nice with their own race, smiling and talking but when I approach them they changed their attitude. Same day I also shopped in Burlington and their customer service was so good. This place is like a war torn country inside. It's dirty and as many of the other reviewers have said, the customer service is horrible. First, the entire building itself (inside) is dirty. The floors look like they haven't been cleaned in weeks. There are often items strewn about, many times clothes just laying on the floor or packages that have been opened and goods stolen. Everything in here looks like they had someone put on a blindfold and toss it somewhere and that's where it stayed, waiting to be sold. My mother loves this store, but I almost always refuse to go in with her because I just can't stand this particular location. As I have said before, nothing is organized or orderly here. In the past, I've found an item I was interested in purchasing and there was a large lipstick smear on the front. I've found tops on several occasions that have foundation/makeup ring around the collar. I'm sure there are cleaner bathrooms in prison. It's just that nasty. The very last time I came here was the final straw for me. Customer service has never been good here. Ever. It's alarming, honestly. After my last trip I won't be back to this location. The line queue is ridiculous and after being called up, not half way through my transaction, the clerk, Sarah, calls up the next customer. I WASN'T EVEN FINISHED PAYING AND THE WOMAN BEHIND ME IS CENTIMETERS AWAY FROM ME WITH HER CART GETTING ANXIOUS. As I counted out my correct change, the teller, Sarah, starts sighing and getting upset that I am taking more time than she would like. When she gives me back my change instead of counting it back for me to ensure it's the right amount, she shoves it in my hand and then makes comments about how long I took to the customer behind me ALL WHILE I AM TWO FEET AWAY AND IN EARSHOT. I've had a few spats with the Pittsburg Ross... but nothing to the point where I would say I had a horrible experience. I kind of took it for what it was... a messy place where the people who work there aren't happy - so fantastic customer service is not expected. HOWEVER... my last experience, has shot me through the roof! I found a large leather ottoman for about $70 dollars. A great deal! But needed a truck to take it home. I ask the cashier, if they can hold it for me, his response (and I quote) 1. "Are you paying for it now?" 2. yes. 3. "Oh okay, well since you're paying for it, we can hold it as long as you want. If you weren't, we can only hold it for 24hours..." Anyone want to guess what happened? Anyone??? I sent my dad the next day to pick it up while I was at work. He calls and tells me "They lost it..." I like to think of myself as a pretty intelligent person or at least have common sense... HOW THE HELL DO YOU "LOSE" AN OTTOMAN? HOW BIG IS THE FREAKING STORE?!?! I knew something was wrong. So after they make my father wait for almost an hour "searching"; they send him home and ask him to call the store back in the morning. Maybe, the morning staff stashed it somewhere.... again... WHERE? Is there a magical place that only half the workers know about? I notice this review is getting a bit long... Long story short... They sold it. Which I knew and didn't appreciate the run around or the million excuses they gave me. I obviously got my money back and was at first offered 10% off my next purchase... which I was not taking... 10%?? What is that Tax?? She offered 20%... but really, when am I going back there? and I HAVE to go when that specific manager is there... This store needs serious customer service training. If anyone would have taken ownership for the error, I probably would not be so angry. Their excuses: 1. The guy was new... (SO? He works there? How is that my problem and how does that fix this issue). 2. Our policy is not to hold items that are paid for. (OKAY, again, how is that my problem. OHMG. The people that were in this place was so rude. I got bumped so hard into a rack of clothes. I think the hangers made a print on my side. Get this the person that pushed me into the rack. I love this place! I shop for 5 kids and this is where we go, you get great stuff for reasonable prices. Even with my teens they get their Nike, CK, MK. Etc. I've shopped here since the very early 2000's. Today, I walked in the store to return failed items purchased as Xmas gifts. Lost prevention did not greet me (which is fine, but unusual across all of the vast lost prevention employees), but rather sized me up/labeled me as a thief or someone of suspicion. I decided to look around before returning my items as I always do; I didn't find anything so I proceeded to the line. Once called up to the register I apologized to the cashier as I had more than one return on different receipts. I took the first item out of bag and the cashier says, "I need to see the receipt first!" It was the way/tone in which it was said and the fact that I had all the receipts in my hand was looking for the correct one. After that transaction, I sat my other receipts down on the counter along with my keys and AirPod case in order to take my other return items out of the bag/place them on the counter. The cashier them picks up my receipts and goes through them? I asked what and why was she doing that she said she was separating my target receipts????!!!!! I knew exactly why she was touching my receipts. It was the same reason that when I looked up and lost prevent was staring at me while I shopping or why he found his way over to me (randomly) while I was shopping. The experience I had today made me feel low and hope no one else is made to feel that way. read more

I know Ross as a whole calls next customer up to look as if the long lines are moving, but the fact that the previous customer is still gathering their belongings and receipts it's rude to be in someone's personal space. I would have been ok with that if I would have been told that in a polite manner. Instead the proceeds ti yell through her radio "reminding" the security guard that there is a no food or drink allowed in a rude tone. I was right in front of her. There was no need to be passive aggressive; use yours manners and address your customers directly and politely. After I told you that she was being passive aggressive, her response was " at least I didn't ask you to leave". HAHA WHAT? who put this lady in charge of TEACHING others how to do their job. Today I brought in my 81 year old mother and she needed to use the restroom I went up to the security guard and asked if they could let us in, he said to wait by the restroom so we did, finally here she comes (Annette) she was so rude to my mother "you want to use the bathroom?" In a very rude way, then she's opening the door and tells my mother she can't bring her bags into the restroom, well my mother had an accident and needed to change the bag was from Target but this manager wouldn't let her bring it in. While I waited for my mother I had to listen to this manager complain to another employee about another one of her employees and she was cussing and going on and on- come on Ross Store teach this one some respect!! I have worked in customer service nearly all my life. I know what good customer service is and I know what it's not. Rarely do you ever experience good customer service at any Ross, but today took the cake. During my entire checkout transaction the cashier wqs chatting with the manager and another employee. She only acknowledged me to ask how I was paying and if I needed a bag. No "Hi, how are you today?" "Did you find everything ok?" Nothing. When my payment processed, the manager asked the cashier a question, so the cashier walked away a couple of feet to answer. I stood there waiting for her to hand me my receipt and my items, but she just looked at mw and said "Oh, you can go ahead and grab your receipt." That's it. No "Thank you, have a nice day." Just a take-your-shit-and-go type of attitude. Wtf is that about? And with a shift manager standing right there! Unbelievable. Horrible, horrible customer service EVER from associate #135658 (no name badge- used the associate # from receipt. Her attitude was the worst during the return process (with my receipt) and at the end states " your receipt is right there " and I pulled it up from the machine. Good luck in the work world- or anywhere- with that attitude. I will not be back to that site however will note Brentwood and Pleasant Hill stores have wonderful customer service....even when processing returns.
