We found quite a few interesting things at this Ross, and it was honestly pretty entertaining just walking around and seeing what was there. First of all, we almost got this fox-shaped dog bed because it was so cute, especially since our dog always reminds us of a fox. I also found this ridiculous but awesome flamingo-shaped lamp, and it completely caught my attention. It was so over the top in the best way. I would totally get it if the rest of our house were decorated a little more ridiculously, because it definitely deserves a space where it could really fit in and shine. Finally, I came across a kid's urinal with a target shaped like a green frog, and it was just as ridiculous as it sounds. The place was junky. There were aisles of stuff that seemed to be randomly placed. Merchandise was hanging over into the walkway potentially leading to trip and fall. Prices seemed ok on the items observed. Pretty standard for Ross. Staff aren't helpful and seem occupied with just putting out more stuff. I asked where an item was located and received a basic instruction like "by the curtains." I had no idea where the curtains were but walked in the general direction. When I didn't find them I asked again. The same lady said with hesitation and reluctancy, I'll show you. She did and I was thankful. I had her in a cart so idk why tf they followed me to the front like I was about to run out. It made me sick to my stomach and I will be calling corporate. It's a clean, well managed store. But the customer service is shot out. If you come here on a weekend or holiday, expect a long wait. It's like a glorified thrift store. I came into this store, knowing what I wanted to buy and to get out fast. The moment I walked in the purchase line, I immediately smelled a filthy stench -- it reeked of ammonia. The smell was so strong and vile that I had to cover my nose the entire time. It was atrocious and to be quite honest, should be illegal for the store to be operating in such condition. I should have dropped my items and left but I was next in line for checkout, so I figured I wouldn't be there for much longer. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. A sales associate finishes ringing someone up, so I proceed to walk towards their counter. I am not greeted but told, "I'm not open yet." She slowly grabs things to put away and then wanders off to the side to talk to a coworker, knowing I am waiting to checkout. After her chit-chat, she then comes back to take her time, wiping down cash wrap. It is apparent to me that this sales associate doesn't care to help me and I am just wasting my time. I like stopping here every now and then when I'm window shopping or just in need of wasting time where I'll try on clothes but not actually by anything. Today is a different day and I was on the search for a cute white dress. A friend of mine is having a bridle shower and it will be an "all white wear" affair. WONDERFUL. I don't have any white dresses or skirts so it was time to find one. Another friend found a cute white dress at this location a couple of days ago so I took it as my duty to come here to find my own. This is well organized store. I've never seen it dirty and rarely see any items put where they shouldn't be put. Prices aren't too bad. I wouldn't call them as cheap as a thrift store but they definitely are cheaper than a Macy's and even Target (who happens to be next door). My problem with this place is I've dealt with more bad service than good service. Today especially wasn't too good. When I went to the try on some clothes the attendant hardly said anything to me. I waited for a number trinket and a word but all she gave me was this look like I was stupid. I then dealt with a rude cashier starting with a J and sounds like (crony). Already knew she would be off when I heard the tone of her voice when she said, "Next paying guest!" No greeting. No smile. Her voice wasn't welcoming or gentle. I spent nearly 300$ here the other night. I got all kinds of stuff.. Dog toys, a pair of Michael kors sandals($50) some kitchen stuff, two queen sheet sets 100% cotton ($28, $20), some clothes, and this amazing crochet bikini(MSRP $80 Ross price $15!!) The store is usually pretty well organized so its easy to find your size. The manager gave me a 15% discount on a wallet with a button that had snapped off into the closure. There are clothes in my size, they are reasonable priced and stylish enough that I am don't mine wearing them. They also have old folks discounts once a week, Most of the clerks are very young and might think that anyone over 35 would qualify for the discount. It does seem that you have to check the racks closely to find nice clothing, but that is a small price to pay for saving water. Cashiers are distracted and unfocused... barely going through the motions. Now, I'm certain a minimum wage job in an understaffed store is no fun, but sleep-walking through your shift doesn't count as customer service. I made a recent purchase and, while entering my debit card info, I noticed that the cashier kept fussing with the package. At the time, I didn't think anything of it. When I got home, I dropped the box and tried to catch it mid-air. The nail from the anti-theft tag - which was still in the packaging - punched a nice hole in the palm of my hand. Apparently, the cashier couldn't figure out how to remove the nail - so she left it in place. And didn't bother to warn me about the puncture hazard. Talk about world-class laziness and lack of concern for your customers. Very typical of every visit to this Ross outlet. I won't be back. read more

I have been shopping this Ross for literally 11 years and on a regular basis. I have seen it go through an evolution of sorts. There was a time that the customer service wasn't the greatest and other times when the inventory was pretty scarse, but it has now become one of the better Ross stores. The management, personnel, and inventory has been awesome. They get trucks almost daily. Since COVID, I have found brands such as Uggs, authentic sports jerseys with $110 tags attached for $14.99, Marc Jacobs, and Vince - to name only a few. I can honestly say that shopping at this Ross today is a totally different experience than years back. If you have given up shopping there, give it another try. There is only one thing that still irks me (and this is with all Ross stores that I have been to), when you return something (even if you have things in your cart that you are going to also buy), the people in the buying line get preferential treatment. I have seen people enter that line way after I entered the return line get checked out before I do. I recommend you train all cashiers to take returns and just have the one line. Take in the order that they get into line. Other than that, it is an awesome store with awesome people and merchandise. read more

if I could select 0 stars, I would. this is my first time coming to this Ross. It's all about the first impression that goes along way. I went to Ross because it's conveniently next-door to target, and once I was done with my target shopping, I decided to take a peek next-door at Ross to see what they may have, and I was immediately harass because I walked in with a Target cart. The thought is laughable because this is not even a big deal. So I switched to a Ross cart, but they were pushing my cart from target outside at the same time. I had no problem switching cards, but how dare they think they have the right to touch any of my belongings without my permission. After I was done shopping at Ross, I asked if I can go outside to grab a target cart so I can continue my shopping in the shopping their cart outside, a nice lady said yes, and when I came in with a Target cart, I was immediately harassed again by another employee, who started pushing the target cart out grab my stuff out of a Ross cart. Even with me, telling the lady not to touch my stuff, she refused and continue to grab my stuff out of the Ross cart. The absolute worst experience, the harassment made me feel extremely uncomfortable, and I expressed this, and they could care less. Their excuse was, Corporate is making us do this. I'm definitely never coming to Ross again. All because of a shopping cart. Communication is key and respect. read more

My mom works for Ross (not this one) and she's always dead-set on going to any new store that opens up. I'm sure I would to if I worked for the company. We took the twenty minute drive to the new store and we quickly spotted the 'grand opening' banner. The store was plenty busy with lots of people coming in and out. The store is large, organized, well lit, and nicely staffed. "Treasures" at Ross vary, depending on stock, time of day, sizes, etc. As a result, you might find some great stuff one day and find nothing on another visit. I tend to always have some luck. This particular visit, I found a Marc Ecko polo and a pair of shoes I liked. I've driven up to an hour to some new Ross stores and have been disappointed, but I was very happy with this new store. Are my expectations too high? Honestly, the staff was very good on my last visit. But the store. What's going on? Are they getting ready to close down? I'm not sure why it was crowded at 2:00pm on a Wednesday but the line stretched all the way to the back of the store. It didn't seem to move at all for ten minutes and then it rolled right along. Now, I couldn't swear to it (because I was all the way at the back of the store) but I'm guessing they opened extra registers as appropriate. So 5 for the employees but 1 for the store equals my generous 3 star review. This store now holds the prestigious honor of being the first store I've walked out of and leaving behind items I needed due to their horrible customer service. Or should I say lack thereof? As I shopped for my items I noticed that there were probably more employees in the store than customers. I made my way up to the registers and waited there was nobody in line. There were to cashiers already ringing people up. Once one was finished, I figured I would be next. Nope. Once the cashier was done with his customer, he simply walked away. No assurance that someone would be with me shortly or any acknowledgement of any kind. Okay. Well, at least the other cashier will be done soon. Right? Nope. She's doing what looks like a very complicated return or exchange. Now the line behind me is starting to grow. Oh, look, there's two employees making their way to the front. Maybe one of them will ring me up? Nope. One is replacing the LP guy who is going on break and the other is...just talking to the one who is replacing the LP guy. Oh, now she's walking away. The cashier, still working with the same customer, asks the LP replacement to call for help up front. She does so, but then complains that having to do so "interrupted my jam" that had been playing on the store PA system. We're talking 10 solid minutes of just standing there with nobody showing any intention of helping me aside from the cashier's attempts to call reinforcements. I gave them 2-3 more minutes after the call for help went out before I finally set my items down on a shelf and walked out. The LP replacement girl called out to me, "Sir, sir!" as I did but at that point I'd had enough. I wasn't going to spend a cent in a store that treats their customers so poorly. The store down on Crescent had similar items and I made my purchase there. read more

The service at this Ross is horrible. Upon entering with my husband and two small children, I was stopped because we had our baby sleeping in a target cart, stating that we cannot bring the target cart into the store. No problem, we change the cart than we are harassed for having water bottles in the store for our children. Both times we were approached were by security personnel a older black man and a late twenty's Hispanic male. This type of harassment is unacceptable when there is fecal matter on the floor of their establishment. Harassing us for a 5&2 year old having water is bewildering WHEN THERE IS FECAL MATTER ON YOUR STORES FLOOR. THIS FELT LIKE HARASSMENT/ RACIAL PROFILING BECAUSE WE WERE STOPPED TWICE WHILE TRYING TO ENTER THE STORE! DO BETTER ! TERRIBLE SERVICE! I came in today to potentially buy a lamp of two and some other household decor.....There was a pair of lamps i had an interest on but both are missing a price tag. I kept looking around to see if I can find one or similar but to no avail. I then walked away to look for a sales associate. I found one who was putting away new merchandise near by. She advised me I would have to take the item to the cashier to get the price check. I looked at her and stated that's a waste of my time. In reality why would I do that if I'm still debating if I wanted the item or something else pending on the price? Or maybe I wasn't done shopping at all??? I walked a feet away and went up to the fitting room attendant and again asked for assistance. She also advised the same thing as the first employee. I stated to her that makes no sense. She tried to explain they can just scan it. I advised there is no barcode to begin with. She replied they have the system up there? I wanted to respond with, I have worked multiple retail places and mind you two Ross stores 20 yrs ago and that's is not how it works. Where's the customer service? I happened upon this new Ross while I was headed to Target this past weekend. The GRAND OPENING sign & red white & blue flags drew me in. I couldn't help it! This location used to be a divey, cluttered Marshalls. The new Ross is bright, tidy, & organized. How pleasant! Plus it wasn't crowded on a Sunday which made my shopping that much easier. I had a problem with a gift that someone bought me at Rpss. Their return policy made it difficult for me to exchange since I didn't have a receipt. But they were able to exchange it for me and it worked out great. I always find great things at great prices at Ross, from clothing, to household supplies, to fun stuff. A couple weeks ago I went in to get a new garbage can for the bath, and found a pair of Uggs... on my way to the register. So the $4 garbage can cost me more than that. I had a poor experience in the store buying a small desk for a bedroom. When I got it to the front the associates told me they could not assist me getting it in my car. I wanted to load it on a cart but I was told I couldn't take the card outside the store. No one would help me and the desk legs came off well I was trying to drag it out the front door. Went here tonight to return an item (under $10) that I purchased along with several other items, totaling over $130. I was fully aware that without a receipt I would be given a store credit, and I was fine with that in order to avoid digging through spare papers to find the receipt. I spoke with the manager, Javier, who kept me waiting for almost 10 minutes only to turn me away... Javier: Where did you buy it? Me: At Ross in Pittsburg. Javier: Okay well you can go there and ask the mgr to pull up your receipt using your card number and date of purchase. Me: Well I don't know the exact date, we can try a few dates within the week I did my shopping, and I'm here now so can YOU pull it up? Javier: No, not since you bought it at another store, sorry. I go on to explain that I'm okay with a store credit since it's only $8.99 and I'm already here and it's getting late and I wanna go home and blah blah... this guy goes on to INSIST that I go to Pittsburg Ross where they could pull up the receipt and it would only take 15 minutes or so and... Omg, seriously? I wanted to ask "Do you not understand English?" But given his ethnicity, that might have been taken as a racist insult. So intead I just took my item and left. For under $10 and a huge waste of time, makes me wannna find my receipt so I can return the whole $130 purchase just on principle!! Some people should NOT be in management :( read more

Today I was at the Ross store in Pleasant Hill, waiting in the checkout line. I watched something that brought tears to my eyes. The young lady behind the counter was helping an EXTREMELY elderly lady check out. The woman couldn't see or hear and had lots of trouble finding her money and using the credit card pad. The girl behind the counter was EXTRAORDINARY. She was so professional, so patient, so helpful, so respectful, and so kind, I'm moved even writing this. Thank you Ross, for that employee. I love going to Ross and each Ross is different. This place can be a hit or miss in terms of what selection they have. I don't think I have yet to buy anything here but it's the closest to work whenever I need a quick shopping therapy. It's great that it's next door to Target and I can hit two stores! read more

I love Ross stores in general, but this one is weak sauce. Visiting Northern California and popped in with a sleeping baby in a cart that was by my car. Apparently it was from toys r us ? Which made more sense after I was forced to transfer the sleeping baby to a Ross cart to enter the store. Bought some items and then was not allowed to leave the store with the Ross cart. Had to transfer her back into one of the target and toys r us carts that are stacked by the door outside. The wheels on the Ross carts lock when they approach the door! Carts aren't allowed to enter the store or leave the store regardless of who is in them. Very customer unfriendly policy. As for the store itself, it is fine but inventory is weak compared to most I have been to. read more

I feel like it's either hit or miss with this store; but then again I have only been to this store for clothes and kids clothes. Haven't really looked around at other departments which I probably should. This store always seems to be organized which is nice because some aren't. For the most part everything is in the right size category and organized by what type of clothing it is. Doesn't get to busy in there except for weekends. I feel like they lack merchandise in the kids area though including the shoes. Not many items on clearance, things in the wrong spots. They should have more infant shoes. The toy section is always a mess thanks to previous kids. Staff isn't so bad , most I feel hate their job and want to leave for the day ASAP .
