We go to this Ross in Rancho Cordova, CA on Olsen Drive a lot. We like this store. Haven't had any issues here yet. We like this plaza because there's lots of others stores here to shop at and places to eat. Most of the time, the store is pretty clean. I've found many outfits here. The staffs are very nice. We always get greeted when we walk in. I love that. read more

I came in specifically for Christmas wrap and finally found it in the back near the storage area (the former dressing rooms). Unfortunately, there were two large garment racks pushed right up against the Christmas wrap display, so I had to move them just to see anything. While I was shopping, an employee came over the loudspeaker apologizing for the long checkout line and asking customers to be patient. Since I needed to go to Marshall's next door anyway, I left with the plan to come back when things weren't so backed up. When I returned, I had to again move the racks away from the Christmas wrap shelves. I picked out what I needed and wandered over to the pet section. On my way back, there were now three racks shoved against the Christmas wrap display. Jeez... Not the best shopping experience. read more

This parking lot gets busy and packed so I don't come here often. There's a big difference in organization and general stock of items between this Ross and Marshall's right next door. At Ross, security will check your receipt and highlight it when you're leaving the store similar to how Costco does. read more

What else can I say about this place that hasn't been mentioned yet? It's a "Ross" and they seem to have locations in every city in America surpassing 50,000 residents (or so that seems). It is also the type of place where you can get reasonable deals on clothing/apparel, shoes, home items, luggage, toys, candles, purses, bath/kitchen products, and everything in between. Located in the very busy Zinfandel Plaza in the heart of Rancho Cordova, this Ross neighbors a Marshall's (their main competition) with larger anchor stores such as Target and Michael's. I only come here since my office is just a couple miles away. However, due to the vast amount of popular retail establishments and dining options, this place does get packed on any given day. In fact, the parking lot isn't one of its highlights as I've seen my fair share of people driving carelessly as well as pedestrians running in undesignated areas. So just keep a lookout with that. But if you avoid some of the craziness, the store itself is designed well and a standard layout that you'd find at other Ross locations. During my most recent visit which was the afternoon of Saturday 9/7/2024 at around 2:00pm, I purchased a 20 oz. body wash (for a reasonable $5.99), a pair of khaki colored work pants (for $14.99), an 8-pack of Adidas ankle-cut socks (for $8.99), and a pumpkin-vanilla candle (for $6.99). Since it was a weekend day, the line did move quickly. And from the selection of merchandise that was there, they were pretty well-stocked. However, the employees/staff work in a very 'robotic' way as the cashier had no emotion. All in all, the Rancho Cordova "Ross Dress for Less" is just average at-best. It is the only located in this city while the 3 nearest locations are in Carmichael (Madison/Manzanita), Citrus Heights (Greenback/San Juan), and Orangevale (Greenback/Hazel). However, this location does have fairly generous business hours as they're open Sunday-Thursday from 9am-10pm and Friday-Saturday from 9am-10:30pm. My rating, just an average 3-stars. read more

I visited this location on Tuesday, 7/25/23. I specifically came in here to purchase new luggage. I was able to find matching three rose gold suitcases for about $150. The store did seem a bit disorganized. In the luggage area, it was hard to push my cart around because many suitcases were all in the walkway. Additionally, I love shopping for clothes. I used to love Ross. But now they have closed all the dressing rooms in the back and only have two in the front. They claim it is because "corporate will not give us enough hours to staff the back rooms." They also claim they open up the back when four or more are standing in line to try things on. That is not true. Which is it? The last three times I was there, in one week, the back rooms were closed, and they had more than four waiting one of those times. Come on, Ross! I will just now go to Marshalls, next door. You are blowing it! This just keeps away those of us who will not waste time standing in line for some deal. read more

One of the big issues is that these stores don't keep their main fitting rooms open. Waiting at least 20 to 30 minutes to try on clothes at the front of the store. Please keep your rooms open, customers are fighting over who gets in first. Really bad experience makes you leave your clothes and not buy anything. read more

I've been shopping here for 3 years, and today was my last visit to this location. To the lady who works in the fitting rooms, your attitude was unacceptable. Although your role may not require complex problem-solving, it does necessitate basic courtesy and respect. Belittling customers over minor issues is surprising and unprofessional. Because this Ross is located within walking distance of the Cordova Town Center light rail station, I've been in here dozens of times. Yesterday, I came in looking for earrings and sweats, and ended up leaving with like, everything but those things. In the past, I've found some cute Betsey Johnson earrings at this location. Yesterday? Zilch. But I found THREE pairs of shoes. I ended up going home with some purple Vans, grey Sketcher's, and blue Polo sneakers. Before leaving the shoe section, I picked out a few packages of New Balance socks. In the pants section, I found nothing of interest. However, I ended up snagging crop tops with Joshua Tree and Venice Beach designs. (My brother's name was Joshua, and we grew up in the Mojave Desert, with hundreds of Joshua trees in our backyard. His ashes were scattered at Venice Beach nearly four years ago, after he passed away from leukemia.) Since I forced myself to choose just one perfume, I put back the Juicy Couture: Couture Couture, and took home a 3.4oz bottle of Vera Wang Princess for just $26.99. On my way out, I remembered I needed sheets, and ended up grabbing a Serta 6 piece Queen set (1 fitted, 1 flat, 4 pillowcases) for just $18.99. Overall, this store has its ups and downs. The customer service is hit or miss, and, sometimes, the whole store has a weird smell. Still, once in a while, I get really lucky, and find all kinds of great deals, like I did yesterday. read more

I came here today after forgetting my windbreaker and of course they had no jackets :( but I did find a umbrella, which is fine. I do have some at home but the weather being so nasty. I definitely needed one today. This is a very clean establishment very clean atmosphere. The staff working at this location were very friendly very helpful. Very efficient. I have never had when I've gone to another Ross store where they check your receipt on the way out. I'm wondering if they must've had a reason to do this because I've gone to several Ross stores and never had this done before. I'm guessing that there must be some kind of issue since they have to enforce that with the customers you definitely get your value at Ross. This is definitely one of my favorite places to buy pet items for sure because I could find my cat and dog stuff here a lot cheaper than I would over at a pet store your dollar definitely goes a long way over here. Great establishment, great friendly staff great experience. They had a very white selection of clothing and much more just not much with selection on jackets today unfortunately but it's fine. I did get an umbrella that better than nothing. I highly recommend Ross in Rancho Cordova greatest establishment. Great experience great value. Went w/ my daughter tonight 11/16 because they close at midnight so I figured it would be the best time to shop not having to deal with the holiday crowd. Regret going and spending my money, walked in at exactly 11:10 and security guard named Franklin says "welcome to Ross just so you know we are closing VERY SOON" confused cuz the website said 12am I said what time do you close and he says with attitude VERY VERY SOON. Him and the associate at the register Angelica start laughing. I should have just walked out then because why should I or any customer spending our hard earned money have to deal w/ that. Franklin then gets on the speaker and says they are closing very very soon and bring your purchases to the register. So I see a male associate on the floor and ask what time they close he tells me 12 and says idk why he is saying very soon since we have 50 mins to shop. Less than 10 minutes later Franklin is back on the register and now saying they are closing in 10 mins and to bring your purchases up to the front now because the registers will shut down in 10 mins and you will not be able to make your purchase. At that point I was over it I had only seen ONE other customer in the store, I told my daughter to put back her items we were leaving. I get to the front and say to Franklin and Angelica what's going on, I'm told you close at 12 yet you are rushing your customers and making us feel uncomfortable. He says no your fine, I said you just said on the speaker your closing in 10 minute he says no your fine. Then says "he is trying to get other customers out of the store". My daughter and I said alright and she gets the items she put back and I continue shopping even though at that point I already felt a certain way and should have just left then. They send a different male associate than the one I spoke w/ when I first got there to approach us and say security said the announcements aren't for my daughter and I Franklin is trying to get someone else out of the store. We finish shopping and pay for our items I don't say anything to the associate or security and I'm sure he could feel the energy. He didn't even check inside my bag just marked off w/ the highlighter. It was just a terrible experience and I'd hate for other customers to experience that. Your store closes at 12 so why are you telling customers at 11:10 your closing really soon and the registers are shutting down. If you don't want to deal w/ customers cuz it's getting late get a new job, the store closes at 12 and you should be providing great customer service until 12am. Instead of joking and running your mouth at the front registers if you think people are stealing in the store walk around the store and make your presence known. I don't normally go here to shop. The only times I come here are when the wife insists on going here for the bargains. She has a lot of patience for this place...I don't. But on the occasions when I have to be the dutiful husband accompanying the wife at Ross, I do find the prices cheap for items that I probably didn't need in the first place. First, if you're looking for clothing, you'll have to have the patience of scouring the racks for something that might suit you (and fit you, if you're lucky) The stocks here are normally off-season items... The staff here also look like they're not happy being here (I wouldn't blame them). Smiles are a little hard to come by, especially for the floor staff. Visited the RC location today. Waited in line, along with many other customers at least 15 minutes. Only after several of us in line inquired as to why there are not more employees reading up customers did someone finally come and open up another register. There were employees walking around the store and completely ignoring the fact that a line was forming, and that there was only one cashier assisting people. When we ask for help, we were ignored. I finally asked for a manager. that is when the other cashier finally came to help me and other customers in line. The one cashier that was working at the register never once called for assistance. in fact, she helped a lady there was standing on the other side out of line instead of assisting customers that had been standing in line for quite some time. I just visited this location (a Tuesday night, around 7pm). 0 Stars (if I could), because the girl at checkout was extremely rude. After scanning my items, (we paid with card), she starts talking to someone about her break, cleaning up around the counters, doing everything except help us finish our transaction. We're literally standing there, just waiting. She's ignoring us at this point and we were such a straight forward purchase transaction. All we needed was our receipt, so I ask: "Hi, could we get our receipt?". She immediately turns around, rolls her eyes, and has an attitude, acting like I'm interrupting her!! She tells us to try our card again. Yeah, because the transaction had timed out by this point!! So we try our card again and she just tells us "grab the receipt". She doesn't even have the courtesy to hand us the receipt. She immediately walks away and says to the security guard "you saw that right?". Like as if we did something wrong. So unprofessional and horrible customer service. This was a slow Tuesday night. Can you imagine how she treats customers when it's actually busy? Learn some manners and customer service skills!!! Upon entering the store, no one greeted me. The line was short for checkout, but the 3-4 associates just standing at the front, took their sweet time to call the next customer. Reading through the reviews makes me wonder if the management and customer service has improved over time , especially since I personally know one of the store managers. I just recently started shopping at this location since I moved to the area. I feel like you can always come across a good find at any Ross. Yesterday we came across a $20 medium sized dog crate . I just left this Ross location and never again.. 5 minutes was all I could stand... children screaming to the top of their lungs and no one is correcting them and no one is asking the parent to leave the store with these overactive children.. I stayed one 5 minutes and grabbed three dresses and two bottles of body spray that had no lids... I like to shop here. Ross is one of those hit and miss stores. Sometimes the store is in a state of disarray and its difficult to find anything. If you see something you better purchase it during your shopping trip because if you return the next day, (smh) most likely it will be gone. I learned my lesson a few times (when contemplating a purchase) Its better to have it, not need it and return it than decide later I'm going to go back for it . I have been lucky enough to discover some neat finds in the store. Been to this location several times. I try to have my set goal purchases in mind but SERIOUSLY, Ross instead makes me browse the entire store for treasures and I walk out with bags (smh) LOL ughhh I feel guilty when I get home but not when I'm buying it LOL I'll be back, because its great to have a GO-TO store for a last minute gift and plus to get a treat for myself!! read more

Having a detailed discussion with your district manager regarding employees not doing their jobs should probably not take place on the floor but maybe in a managers office? Does not look good for shoppers to hear any of that. I heard the team had issues and there was someone from HQ there speaking with the employees phone calls and discussing that on the floor. Afterwards I got into line and there was four cashiers. Since I was the only one in line two managers dismissed themselves leaving me to wait instead of fixing me the common courtesy of checking me out and making your sales goals??! They have some decent deals, but it's NOT a pleasurable shopping experience. First, obviously, it's not laid out like your typical department store. You have to search to find thing you might like. The organization is a bit confusing: racks that say "denim" are full of khakis and skirts, and "knits" includes various fabrics that aren't knit. Basically, you have to be very patient and willing to sort through a lot of crap to find a few things you like. Fine. But the main problem I had was that I was treated like a criminal. I understand that it may be a necessity for the location and type of clientele to which they cater, but it certainly doesn't make one feel welcome. Some stores have a limit on how many items you can take into a dressing room with you. Annoying, but understandable, I guess. Ross has a limit of 8 items. I had 11. So I took 3 items and asked that they be held while I tried the first 8. Most places say, "Sure," had you a card with "8" on it, and send you along. Not here! The employee had to actually TAKE the 8 items from my hand, put them on a rack, and literally pat down each and every item of clothing as I stood there. It was more thorough than the freaking TSA. After being told I could take my items back, I tried them on and decided to keep one in the dressing room, and continued to wear the one I had just tried on while I returned the unwanted items to her and asked for my other 3. She acted like this was a huge security breech and unheard of. She took the items and twice said, "But there's only 6 here! There's only 6!!" And I calmly explained, "Well yes- one of the items I'm keeping, and is still in my dressing room, and the other item I'm also keeping and still wearing." She had to literally count on her fingers how many items I had left to try on, plus the 2 I dared to keep, so she could give me a new number. Then the items were thoroughly checked out again before I was allowed to leave the dressing room area with my chosen items. Again, maybe this is a necessity for that particular spot, but I found the whole experience demeaning and insulting. As an undergrad I worked in a clothing store, and we had security measures too, but we had the foresight enough to not make it obvious to the customers. The whole experience was very unpleasant, and after the lackluster cashier experience, I left feeling a bit upset. I'm not a high-end store type of person, but this made me uncomfortable and I will not return. read more

Oh my gosh, remember how I said you can hate or love this place? I officially hate this place. Not Ross in general, but I will never, and I mean never step foot into this particular establishment ever again! (And they probably could care less, just like everything else about the store.) This place is the pits when it comes to customer service! My goodness, isn't it your job to greet people and have, oh, I dunno...manners? Let's see... Encounter #1: my mom goes to return something and asks the guy if he can remind her if she paid by cash or by card. "I dunno", he says. "The computer will tell me, just wait." As we wait, he finally notifies us it was with a card, but apparently he can't tell us which card because "the computer doesn't say." So, how am I supposed to know which card I put it on? Well, apparently "any credit card is okay, as long as it's a credit card, because that's what the computer says." Oh, wow. Have you had any training or common sense for that after? Have you ever learned that it's on the dang receipt? Of course not, because apparently when you work here you could care less. Encounter #2: my sister purchases some things as my mom and I are still shopping. The guy, who refuses to even say hello rings her up and shoves all her items into one bag, and later she realizes (in the store) that he shoved the heels in her bag so hard he ripped the bag. Well, come time for us to check out, he's our cashier again and as he is ringing us up, my mom asks if we can have another bag since this one ripped, in which he responded "no. Company policy, we don't give out bags." Hmmm, so even if YOU ripped it, you don't give out bags? "No, company policy, I can only give out bags to my current transactions." Well, how come loss prevention guy happily gave us a bag?? You get what you pay for, so I can't expect much from Ross, but rest assured Rancho Cordova location, you've definitely lost a customer! This is, hands down, the best Ross location. Period. Overall, the store was bright, clean, and very organized. I was greeted when I walked in and asked if I needed help with anything on the sales floor. Both the associates who ran the fitting rooms and who rang me out were quite pleasant. Honestly, I have nothing to complain about! I found so many awesome tops in women's/junior's clothing (see pictures). WOW! Stuff was either priced surprisingly inexpensive, or was fairly priced at most. Their selection of dresses was unbelievable and had a little something for everybody. Tons of accessories and a whole wall of cute make-up kits. For my son, I found some crazy cute t-shirts and several hardcover children's books, most of which were only $2.99! Their housewares department did not disappoint. Tons of decor in various styles and colors. Great selection of frames, candles, and random odds and ends. This place is also amazing when it comes to gift shopping. Lots of cute/collectible/kitschy stuff that is unique and reasonably priced (framed prints, shot glass sets, etc). It has moved over to the Target shopping center on Olson Drive and is in a way better location! Great deals and selections. The store is organized and well lit with a security guard at the front door. Parking lot is clean and well lit as well. Be prepared for lines though. read more

This is another must visit store when i am in the area. I love how it is next to Marshalls because its just a bonus reason to go shop 2 places in one setting. Always get greeted by the security guards and then you just go on ahead and do your thang. First thing i do is go to the display case and see if i spot anything fantastic or cheap on clearance for sunglasses and watches. These last few times i haven't had any luck with finding a gem in the display case. Next is go to the clearance mens section and see what they have to offer. Then check out the shoes and see if they have any unique or cool kicks. Then check the backpack and miscellaneous section for some cool miscellaneous items. My buddy copped a herschels mini iPad case for $10 which is a steal because this brand is usually quite pricey. Next i went to the kitchen aisle and see if i find anything cute. Saw a little ceramic tea pot for $3 which i did pick up and had it in my hand til i walked over to the cashier. I then had to real talk myself and ask if i really need it. The solution i came up with is i just want but not a need since i have a million of tea pots so yada yada i put it back. Sometimes it works when you talk to yourself, you feel me? Overall i have a great experience each time i come to this store. But i have noticed these last few visits i always come out empty handed because it seems like they don't have new items so often or it might be gone when I come and check it out. So... I get to this place at 850Am. They open at 9. That's cool, I don't mind waiting. It's my fault for not checking. They open at 9 and I grab what I needed (I'm a fast shopper) and get to the counter to be checked out. No line. Sweet! The workers then take fifteen whole minutes, yes fifteen, to count out their registers before they're ready to ring me up. You didn't get the registers counted BEFORE opening? That's like the basics, man. The cashier, Anna, was actually apologetic and nice. So good for her. I don't think it's her fault, probably more poor management. So, note to the manager on duty: when your store is open at 9, be ready to service customers at 9! Not 9:20! read more

There are high end department stores, there are thrift stores, and somewhere in the middle there is Ross. You can dress for less and find some great name brands at great prices, but it all depends on how hard you are willing to look and how much you'll put up with in the process. I've found great finds here - from shoes to workout shorts to formal button-down shirts to gadgets like trimmers or workout mats. Even with some of these great bargains I find myself driving by to go somewhere else because of the epic lines, creepy customers and disorganized racks. If you're on a budget - which most of us are - go with Ross. Otherwise, Target is right across the parking lot. read more

I am writing this review based on the customer service. Sarah needs to be fired immediately. I took my 60 year old mother to this Ross in particular because it has a greater selection of clothes compared the other locations. My mom and I were paying separately so I let her go first while we were waiting in line to pay. I watched everything that happened. The cashier, Sarah, had an attitude and was completely rude to my mom. She was impatiently rushing her while she was digging for change in her coin purse and she raised her tone of voice when my mother asked her how much the total was. No Sarah, my mother is not deaf. She just speaks broken English. I hope management reads this because it's is completely, 100% unacceptable. read more

I came in to pick up a couple items. The gentleman at the front was very welcoming and greeted me as I walked in the problem started when I waited in line. I have two people working the returns line and no one's even paying attention the new purchases until I speak up. As I'm waiting in line with the lady says something about I know you're on lunch already called someone to help??? First of all I don't know where she gets that too it's none of her damn business three her concern should be the line not what I got going on.
