Stopped by the Rockford location on my way to Indiana to drop off my mom. I don't know what it is, but Ross has gone downhill with the selection of BIG shoes! You have a section that says 13 and up, but you should change it to 13 and below, because you NEVER cater to big sized shoes anymore. I remember at one point I bought 3 pairs of shoes. It's not just this location, this is the location in my city of La Crosse, WI as well! I used to love this store and company, but anymore I'm not excited at all. This particular location was the location that I night the 3 pairs of shoes about 4 years ago! Such a shame! I hope you can do better!! I was looking to get a couple pairs of jeans and thought I would try here to see what they were like. I had heard that Ross had some good deals, like another discount and markdown department store in the area. They haven't been open too long and you could tell they were still working out some of the kinks. The store was a little bit disheveled. The men's jeans are on a rack next to the luggage section. Luggage was spilled over into the aisle blocking the way. Clothes were mixed in to different areas like someone picked up a large shirt and decided they didn't want and placed it in the small section. I believe that all of that is a result of the clientele and not the staff. When we were there they had staff going through the aisles trying to straighten, it's just hard. The store is organized into its various departments. It's not as well marked as other stores, but if you pay attention to the signs you can find what you are looking for and sizes rather easily. The dressing rooms where clean and the attendant was extremely helpful. They were a little slow in the checkout aisle. We stood there in a line for a long time while two staffers and a security guy where sorting clothes that either people decided not to buy or they found in the wrong areas. After about 10 minutes they opened up a second register. The prices were right. If the tags with the suggested retail price are correct, I bought a pair of jeans for $20.00 that normally cost $60.00. If you are looking to buy some designer clothes and are on a budget, it doesn't hurt to check them out. Also if they don't have something one day, come back later in the week, they get new shipments in all the time. read more

I've been here many times but lately this store has looked so unorganized and the employees need to watch what they say. Today I bought stuff for myself and the lady forgot to take out the plastic thingy that goes off and the lady just started grabbing stuff from my cart and dropped my picture frame . Then she was checking the Jean pockets and she was saying something like I'm gonna check the pockets instead because they might be stuffed with stuff since y'all be doing things you shouldn't . And I just looked at her like ??? So unprofessional. Not everyone is out to steal . Watch your mouths. Also we wanted to get jewelry and we pressed the button for help and from the 3 ladies there no one came until a while after and the lady who said I was stealing said she was annoyed by the sound of the machine we pressed. read more

Ross is basically the blue TJ Maxx. My mother and sister had never been to a Ross so I decided to with them this past weekend. My goal was to look for some things for my fiance for Christmas. Sadly, they have so many clothes JAMMED onto the racks in the men's section, it was too hard to see anything. You could not even pull a shirt out from the rack, it was so tight. I looked for a few moments and just got frustrated and walked away because I could not easily access the clothing. They have a decent variety of women's clothing. Unfortunately, nothing is sized properly so it's way too big or way too small. There is a reason the clothes are in their store and not at the fancy department stores, you know? Some items have a snag in them, some housewares are damaged, and sometimes you can find a great buy! The items that ARE in good condition are not that reasonably priced. If can go to the department stores for just a little more $$ and get perfect clothing...I will. We are not from the area but next time I'm out in Rockford, I may stop in because you CAN find a good deal. You just have to be willing to hunt for it and of course, have the time to do so. read more

I go to Ross at least twice a week. I personally love Ross for multiple reasons. The prices are great and you can find tons of name brand items for reasonable prices. Why take a trip to the mall when you could do it all in one store for less? Ross is great for clothes, shoes, fragrances, and many other miscellaneous things you'll need once you see. I often find myself going for a single thing or simply just to browse, but always end up with much more than I intended. How could you only leave with one thing? With such good prices, you're sure to find something(s) to take home! read more

This place always looks like a bomb just went off in it. Some racks are overflowing while others are almost empty. The clothing is not what you would find at the TJX branded stores - this is more like Gordman's with off brands and low quality items. There are a few brand names strewn about, but it is very hit or miss. Their home goods section is mostly junk, but there are occasionally designer bags and shoes at deep discounts. Ross in Rockford IL is the only place in Rockford you are guaranteed to be treated poorly. Today I had the unfortunate experience of being redirected to another line by Terri the loss prevention employee. I realize I was interrupting her and another employees socializing time but her response was unnecessary. Terri has an issue with having to work that she speaks condescendingly to the customers when they are standing in the wrong line. She is rude and perhaps could excel in an overnight stocking position where she doesn't deal with people. With all the stores closing down in Rockford I'm surprised that this Ross location is still open because every time I stop in there the place is a disaster and the poor cashiers are under staffed. read more

I love to shop here. Yes, I love to look and dig for great deals. I have found so many good things here. Yes, it is very similar to TJ maxx and marshalls. But the same thing you would find there is about $3 cheaper here. Sometimes the place is packed and may be disheveled but that's what makes it better to find great deals. I love it! read more

This Ross is nowhere near where I live but I was driving by and stopped in here to see what all the hoopla was about. I was disapointed; it's essentially a TJ Maxx or Marshalls. The men's section is only a few racks of stuff. So if you're a female then you may find this store more to your liking. read more

I have been shopping around to find some new clothes to match my recent promotion at work and I had a coworker mention Ross. Their selection of men's clothing was tiny to say the least, but I did find decent brands/prices. Immediately when walking in, you are greeted by a wanna be cop. This guy could seriously learn a thing or two from the greeters at Wal-Mart. Right off the bat, my Ross "experience" has started poorly. That wasn't the worst part... When shopping, I prefer to get in and out without wasting any time. Apparently this was a red flag to the security boy, so he persisted in following me the entire time I shopped. Was he standing directly behind me? No. However, I have worked in retail so I knew exactly what he was doing. Needless to say, that was my first and last time at that horrid excuse of a store. If anyone in management happens to read this, hopefully you acquire some new security that isn't into profiling, you will get more business that way. read more

The prices on everything are really low, and I found a lot of awesome stuff there. Would have been 5 stars if it was more organized. Their shoes were all scrambled so none of the sizes matched up.
