First off the discounts and finds you get at Ross are always fun. I absolutely love going there and finding a good buy and later checking to see what I actually bought value wise. For instance ladies get a purse for 20-30 and find it's a $100+ purse. Or guys find that piece of furniture for your den at a discount. I find buys in this place all the time. The service is great the staff are nice and helpful. I wish management would do something about the lights. The lighting sucks it hurts to look around the store too much as I get migraines and I notice a familiar look on the employees faces I am sure if they upgraded simple lighting and touched up a bit this Ross would be making more and having happier staff too! No way will I go back to this Ross!Today I had a frightening experience. I was blocked from leaving at the dressing room exit because I was not allowed to leave until I followed this clerks unintelligible one sentence direction. She physically detained me. I was blocked from leaving while she refused to accept the clothes from me, or let me set them down either. Another employee had to come over to tell me what she was saying. Then I was able to comply. There was a makeshift little stand off about 20 feet perpendicular to me that she was ordering me to put the clothes on. Ross should have coherent instructions. This is your typical Ross Dress for Less store. It's conveniently located in Montgomery Village and has been there forever. Unlike some of the other stores nearby, this one hasn't had a face lift or remodel in a while and looks sort of dumpy, but that's not unusual for Ross as it's a discount store. I stopped in to browse and was pleased to see they have a pretty good sized selection of pet accessories, including clothes and beds and toys for dogs. Even some puzzle food toys! I bought one for my raven. The staff was friendly and the store was clean enough. Things were decently organized and I would shop here again. My favorite Ross in town. Always fully stocked(at least when i go) and although its not the tidiest its also not extremely messy. Honestly, idk what the rest of the reviews are talking about. I went in today, shoe area was clean. And in the baby area there was some items on the floor but as i was about to walk by an employee came by and picked it up. I used to love Ross and shopped here frequently for so long. But how like some long term relationships can be......we slowly drifted apart over the years. And thatcis howci feel like my relationship with Ross has been. Sure.....you can "Dress for Less" but that also comes with a price. Even after trying things on before I brought them home, I still manage to get a broken zipper, find a hole or a stain after purchasing. Unfortunately the lines in this store can sometimes be worse than the DMV. But thats okay....put in your ear buds and chill out to some music while you wait. I don't know why, but I can never find anything at this Ross. When I went the other day, there were empty racks with no clothing! At this Ross, I feel like it's a hit or miss-- you either find tons of things you like or none at all. There's always a wide variety of clothes, but they might not even be in the right places and they might not have the right sizes. Also, when it gets busy, it seriously gets busy. I rarely ever go to places like Ross for two reasons - I hate shopping and I also can't be bothered to look through racks of stuff trying to find my size and something I actually like. At Ross it's a hit and miss and fortunately for me this time it was a hit as I found 6 pieces of clothing that I liked and also fit me fine....bloody miracle. The prices were great and I walked out with three items. I don't expect service here and that is pretty much the case. The stores always seem messy, overcrowded, & the merchandise is always cheap, poorly made, ugly crap. This Santa Rosa outlet was not too messy on my visit. But the men's clothing selection was poor. I have a dilema with this place. Sometimes I find some amazing items at this place (4 star worthy) - like cool shirts / dresses etc and they are practically ine for a song... I like that. mostly i find amazing shoes at this place (5 star worthy) it's like every pair of Nine West shoes I've ever wanted at discount prices.. I really don't expect much when I walk into a Ross. Something I hit a jackpot (Steve madden heels for 15 bucks!!) or leave empty handed ( sad issy) But on this journey I went last I had a specific thing in mind: duvet covers. And guess what! I didn't find a single one. But I did round the corner and happen to find tons of kitchen aid tools and plush bath mats. I grabbed a tempur pedic style bath math for seven dollars and will keep in mind the kitchen items here are quality. Why, oh why can't this store seem to staff the cash registers?!? I sometimes stop by on my lunch break, and although there seem to be plenty of workers wandering around the store, replacing merchandise, there is usually a line of customers waiting to check out and only one or two cashiers. I have had to put down my items and leave, because I could no longer wait while the cashiers slooowwwly check out the line of customers. Thank you. Lost my wallet & they found it in 10 minutes! Went inside straight to shoes, wandered across the store to kids toys, boys toddler clothing and shoes. Moseyed on over to the Junior shirts and pants. Enjoyed some time in the dresses and decided it was time to try everything on. I know everyone can relate to taking out their purse, wallet, phone, etc. from the cart/basket to take with you inside the dressing room for obvious reasons.. I grabbed my phone from the cart but no red wallet! I told the man that "I think my wallet has been stolen". The dressing room attendant ensured that I knew where in the store I had previously been and immediately radioed for his manager, while helping me take the clothes out of the cart, so we could double check I hadn't missed it. Manager came & triple checked everything, advised she would go and have video reviewed. The dressing room attendant asked if it was ok to make an announcement which I agreed too. I'm pretty skeptical at this point because someone could've already purchased something or walked out with the wallet. Sure enough I heard the PSA as I combed the floors through in my attempt to retrace my foots steps. Just as I finished my retrace, ending back at the dressing room, the dressing room attendant comes and holds out my wallet! He stated that "a woman came by and dropped it off". I, of course, look inside and everything is still there! cash, cards, IDs, etc. So, Thank You, to the Farmers Lane, Santa Rosa Ross Employees & Managers for your quick response & professionalism. Worst clothing store in the world. Floor is falling apart. Raised at the edge of every floor tile, literally, disgusting. Floor was broken and filthy. Aisles so small I felt like I was in a small jet airplane, bumping into everyone, and everything. Dog pissed on the floor near me and the two women walked off leaving the dog piss there for everyone to slip on. Told a manager. Employees were rude and legitimately frowning at me, and refused to get out of my way so I could look at my size of pants. She never got out of my way, and I wasted 26 minutes waiting to look at clothes. The employees come first here, and refuse to move or help you, they will scowl at you and have outrageous personality disorders. two small children were running up and down the 2 inch aisles with their cart chasing each other like hyperactive puppies, they knocked stuff over and damaged their display furniture. The serial scowler gave no cares and ignored them. Did not look to FIND THESE CHILDREN'S PARENTS, just frowned at looked away. The check out girl was also outrageous and wanted to sell me the already damaged pants at full price, saying "They are already marked down, so it is sold as is!" Luckily the only brain in the store next to her told her "No, you have to give an additional 15% off because it is damaged." I would have been charged full price for damaged pants, if this girl had it her way. I bought them damaged for my significant other because he stopped giving a crap at the point of us both dying to get the h3ll out of that store and feel like we at least left with something. Ok, the over-zealous "Loss Prevention" security guards. First experience there, I headed straight to the restroom as it is a 45 min drive one way from my house to Ross on Farmers Lane in SR. I left my cart outside to use restroom as they have those pole thingies stopping you from bringing the cart anywhere but around the store. I came back and didn't look down right away and rested my hands and body on what I assumed was my cart. I looked down in 4.5 seconds and realized it was another woman's cart. I apologized outloud and the woman was completely fine with it and understood. The loss prevention beefy woman who was hovering around me at this occurrence started hounding me "What are you doing!? Is that your cart I saiiidddd WHAT ARE YOU DOING!??!?" I was so angry, my face turned red as I expressed that it was totally a mistake, that I just happened to not look down for 4.5 seconds as I rested my hands and body on what I thought was my cart, and didn't realize someone else's cart was where I thought my cart was, as I waited for my significant other to use the restroom!!!!!!!!!!!!" Then the Loss prevention scolded the woman who's cart I had freaking touched, and demanded she take her purse out of the cart and keep it on her person! Like she couldn't keep HER damn purse, in HER damn cart, motivated by me, accidentally, touching her damn cart. Usually I do not have much time when I enter a Ross or any other discount store because my son is with me and after about 15 minutes of hunting the racks he starts scaring fellow shoppers by jumping out from under the racks... so at this point it is time to hit the road... but most of the time this is just enough time for me to go through the poor selection of shoes and clothes they have to offer. Not this store though, I was so happy that he was not with me because their selection was great! This store had a great selection of shoes, cute name brand shoes on the clearance rack for $10-$15... I quickly filled up my basket with about 10 shoes while the women next to me stared in disbelief. I must say it is very hard to find cute party shoes in any of the Ross stores down in the Bay Area but this store was full of them. The selection of dresses were also amazing, two huge long racks to go through with tons of different styles to choose from... yes, they are not the most trendiest pieces but I did pick up a couple of cute simple summer dresses and a couple dresses for work. So my wife went into the store today and had a cart full of items. She was buying stuff for our new home. When she got to the checkout, the cashier makes a snide comment "are you sure you could afford all this?" This blew her mind and she was really upset. She was dressed casual as she was packing things today and for an employee to judge her this was and make that comment is completely unacceptable. We own our own business and were shocked. Ok people you have to realize that you're going to ROSS, they don't pay their employee's enough to care about customer service, hence the reason why their prices are so LOW! With that being said, it's not the customer service I go here for, I go to find CHEAP & AFORDABLE items. I've learned to go first thing in the morning when they open, the store is clean, the employees are more willing to help, and there isn't a HUGE crowd, YET. I'm always able to find what I need, of course I have to dig, but let's face it, sometimes it's fun to comb thru things if you have the extra time. This ROSS store has been in this location forever. Since when the Montgomery Village Shopping Center wasn't so upscale. While the shopping center has gotten better, this ROSS store has not. While it has a huge selection of items, it is very hit or miss if you are looking for anything in particular. I have to commend the employees on keeping the items organized in their proper locations. This includes sizing on clothing. It makes it easy to check clothing availability in your size. Most prices are pretty good, but sometimes fit can be very erratic, especially with shoes. It's nice that they have entrances on both ends of the store with checkouts at both ends. If one end has huge lines, try going to the other side. This is a pretty good sized store. Like others have mentioned, the bathrooms are pretty nasty, but when you have to go, you have to go. read more

I had a return which had an original brand tag but not the ross tag. So they had me find similar item with the same brand, which I understood. After looking around, I found one with a SAME BRAND with similar style but just a different color. Once I brought it to a register, Zach refused to do the return and was not willing to help at all. After all that time I spent looking for something similar, now he was telling me that he still can't do the refund????? Instead he told me to "BE CREATIVE" with the item. I mean what kind of customer service is that. Bottom line, I was not that worried about the money part. It was mostly how he handled the situation and the comments he made. It is CHAOTIC and MESSY and I can't seem to be able to navigate the confusing layout of the store the way some women seem to. The clothes are generally pretty bad, no reason to shop in a store like this for clothes when you could hit sales elsewhere and be happy with the selection. Redeeming side? Hard goods... Never coming to this store again! I have had terrible customer service the last few I've come here... Being short staffed is no excuse to be rude to customers. My last trip there they had 2 checkers and a long line. I was as patient as I could be, but my toddler started to melt down in line and we had to leave. I was trying to empty my cart quickly and get out of the store when security made a snarky comment about "people" leaving their carts in the middle of the aisle. I was obviously fighting with a screaming and kicking 18 month old, you would think she would have had a little sympathy. Yes a lot of clothes. Plus size section for women SERIOUSLY needs attention. I understand that Ross gets leftovers but some of those clothes are truly unattractive.
