As 32 yr old now, I will make the 6.5 hour drive that it is to come see Dr. Dixon. He's worth the traffic. NO JOKE. Took time off work, came for my appointment 30minutes early and when I checked in, the front desk says they accidentally made the appointment for the wrong person resulting in me not having one. Minimally apologetic, just ended the conversation saying sorry but we made a mistake and you don't have an appointment, there's nothing we can do. I showed up in scrubs since I had to go to work right after so clearly she knew I worked in healthcare. She didn't even try or even pretend to go back and ask to see if I could be fit in given their mistake. I have fit patients into my schedule depending on circumstance when the front desk asks and the least they could have done was pretended to try to do the same. I recently saw Dr.Ross for the first time to redo a few old fillings. It was one of the best experiences I have had at a dental office. I have no pain during the procedure, I felt very relaxed in the dental chair. I thought it was a nice touch that there are tv's in the top on the ceiling to keep me distracted during my procedure. Dr. Dixon and his lab tech did a great job on my front crown. I had another awesome dentist (Bruce Johnson) install an implant (the metal anchor part) and then Dr. Dixon installed the crown (the actual fake tooth). It looks perfect, matches my other teeth exactly, works great and no complications. Dr. Dixon is a perfectionist, which I am grateful for. His staff are also super friendly and professional. I have no complaints and that is rare for me. My kids also have gone to his brother Eric Dixon for pediatric dentistry and no problems at all for the past 15 years. I can't speak to the other reviews but will say that my experience with this dentist office was very disappointing. The front desk lady Sophia is very unprofessional and does not provide any assistance with coordinating insurance. Keep in mind that this office only cover Delta Dental and if you are not contracted with this provider you will see a bill for a standard cleaning for $148! I informed Sophia up front that I was with Guardian and she did not disclose that I was out of network until the day of my visit at which point I was told there shouldn't be any additional fees. So in summary no x-rays and a standard cleaning and they billed $210 of which I had to pay $148 with no assistance whatsoever. It is too bad because the Dentist seemed to be pretty good and the hygienist was great but Sophia is a bad apple. read more

I hadn't been to the dentist since I stopped having dental insurance in college. I was a little worried about how much work I might need to have done, and the obligatory pain (physical and monetary) that might come with that. Dr. Dixon was amazing. He told me that I would need to get a fairly extensive amount of work done, but that he promised it wouldn't be too painful, and that his receptionist would happily work out payments with me. He works fast, has a great personality, his offices are clean and comfortable, and he seems genuinely happy to help his patients (read: not bitter or jaded like my last dentist). I was a patient at Dr. Ross Dixon's practice for six years and I was extremely pleased with the very professional and kind service I received there. The offices are modern and up to date without being flashy, but most importantly, the friendly staff is what I will miss the most now that I no longer live in San Diego. Every visit I ever had at this office was efficient and painless - you heard me right, painless visits to the dentist! In terms of Dr. Dixon's approach to dental care, he is very conservative and careful in considering treatments and procedures. I've heard horror stories of friends and co-workers who have gone to less scrupulous dentists and been pressured into undergoing completely unnecessary procedures. In contrast, Dr. Dixon will not recommend anything unless he is absolutely sure it is necessary, as he genuinely cares for the wellbeing of his patients. Additionally, I had problems with fillings a couple times (not his fault, as the location of the fillings makes them difficult to maintain), and he replaced them free of charge. In my past, I have been known to be somewhat critical of medical professionals. When I turned 16 my parents let me drive and choose my own doctors. I did a bunch of research online and decided to give Dr. Ross a try. I went into his office and HELLO it was amazing. His office can squeeze me in with my crazy student schedule and they are fast, pleasant, and have a variety of free products so I never have to buy toothpaste! Dr. Ross is kind and considerate. He will help you with what you need and not make you get things you don't. I would recommend him to anyone even though more patients means less time for me. He has TVs in his rooms so when you lay down you can choose what you want (plus for teenagers or people who enjoy television). I just want to say that besides Dr. Ross basically being a cool dude, his staff is fantastic. They are so nice, like so nice that you want to bring them baked goods, but can you bring sugary things to a dentist? Eh? Also side note, Dr. Ross is obsessed with apple products so if you enjoy them, you guys can talk about them all day. I am sad that I am moving so I won't get to see Dr. Ross, but I know that he will still give me free toothpaste so I feel okay about it. GO SEE HIM. HE IS THE BEST. read more

My son goes next door to see Dr. Eric Dixon and so it was quite fortunate to find out that his brother works with adults and their offices are right next to each other. Dr. Ross is straight up honest and will tell you things as they are. I appreciate this because he's not trying to "sell" you something that you don't need. Dr. Ross is an excellent dentist and I the best one I've ever seen - I've seen many. The office is very clean, quite contemporary and comfortable. There is no sterile feel to this dentistry office. Once I made a mistake of going elsewhere, and wound up very disappointed. Since then, I have never left Dr. Dixon's practice. He's the type of Dentist, who, after a particularly intensive procedure, will personally call you to follow up and see how you are doing. He takes the time to explain what he sees, suggests, and listens to be sure his patients are informed and comfortable. Let's face it, not everyone loves going to the dentist, but going to Dr. Dixon's office is a good experience! His office is especially inviting, modern, and very clean. When you are in the chair for your cleaning or exam, you get to lay back, have headphones on (if you like) and watch cable TV! Or, you can talk (nod along) with your friendly hygienist, who has you in good hands before you follow up with Dr. Dixon. If that's not enough, the office staff is great! They smile, are welcoming, follow up, set up text or voice mail reminders for my appointment confirmation, and generally help to make the appointment run smoothly and on time. Dr. Ross did an incredible job on my teeth. My 20+ year old bridge on my upper teeth was failing and Dr. Ross recommended replacing the bridge with an implant followed by orthodontia so that the new implant would not bang on my lower teeth. He coordinated my five year care plan with a team that included himself as the General Dentist, a Periodontist to install the implant, a Micro Endodontist for the root canals, and an Orthodontist. Dr. Ross led this team with the precision of a Quarterback driving down field surgically picking apart the defense until we crossed the goal line!
