Jake fixed a broken sprinkler line, lowered a sprinkler head that was too high, and replaced two other ancient, poor performing heads. He checked the system and adjusted a couple of other heads. I am a single mom, and had rotator cuff surgery in January, so when I had a big leak in my front yard, I struggled to figure out where it was coming from and I uncovered a large pipe, when my shoulder had enough. I called Jake and he came out the next day and worked to figure out the crazy sprinkler pipe configuration that was laid out when the house was built and told me that large pipe was actually a root and he worked in the 100 degree heat to get the problem solved. He was kind, courteous and very fair with his price. I wish he did more than sprinklers, I would call for anything I needed around the house! I've already recommended Mr. Ross by my neighbors, and I haven't even written a review yet. I called him up about a leaky valve, a couple blocked pop-ups, and potentially replacing some pop-ups with drip tubes for a planter. While it's true I did have to call twice, I'm still glad I did. He worked around my schedule, and showed me how things work. Some tradesmen are uncomfortable if you check out what they're doing. Not only was he fine with it, he encourages watching what he's doing, and explains what's going on while he does. I prefer actually understanding what's wrong, so this was great. He explained the leaky valve may have to be replaced. Turns out it didn't, and he made an adjustment. He talked me out of the drip system, as it's really not needed. I appreciate the honesty and not just going for the extra billable tasks. Joe checked all the sprinkler heads, and replaced the ones that weren't as good as they should be (like a 180° where a 90° should be, or ones with cracks). I even threw in one of those "while you're here..." twists and asked him to check the backyard sprinklers too. Without objection, he did, and made a couple minor adjustments. If anyone I know needs a repair done, I know who I'm going to suggest. read more

Jake arrived wearing a mask. He did a lot of trouble shooting. He replaced the timer for our drip system explaining everything as he worked. Jake came to my home and looked over my problems, water valve leak in front yard was most important to me he said he could do it Saturday @ 3pm. I then showed Jake other issues I had in backyard. I asked him it this was an irrigation line and he said I check and punched hole in it and water sprayed out. He told me he would come back and and irrigation drip system to the existing line. Saturday came and went No call. Today is July 25,2020 a week later and no call from Jake. I guess my job was not worth it to him. I gave a star because I had too. This person charged me $350 to do some very basic installation and put in a timer, the wire was already there. He charged exorbitant prices for the valves that he said were way better than Lowes. I needed it done fast so paid Ross his fee. He said anytime there was a problem he would be back to fix it. Several months later the valve was leaking all over the ground during the sprinkler time. I called him and he said he would be at my house between 10-11am. Apparently he changed his mind and came at 8:30am when nobody was available. He never bothered to check if Id be available. After that he flaked out and never returned my calls. Beware, he charges $65/hr and you can find far more reliable guys who mow lawns every week for half the cost. read more

I had high hopes based on my neighbors' recommendations, but I've tried to reach Joe Ross for over three weeks, and he never called back or answered his phone. I hammered a nail through a pipe. Oops. Called Ross and answering machine said he would get back with me in the early evening. Had not herd back at 7:30pm so called again. He called right back then. He came out next day and repaired it quickly. I think he felt bad about the minimum charge for coming out since it only took a couple of minutes. It was all fair, I couldn't have fixed it. Joe Ross is a nice fellow but his work is among the worst I've ever seen. I had leaky spigots. All he did was tighten the nut around them instead of taking the few extra minutes to back out the screw in the handle. What I ended up with were spigots that still leaked in some cases and were hard to open/close. I asked that the sprinkler heads be checked. He sent his grandson (a teenager) out to check them. Don't know that a teenager has much experience of judgement about the proper spray patterns. But what took the cake is that when he was checking the sprinklers, he erased all the programming on the controllers. My lawn didn't get water for 10 days, until I noticed it turning brown (I have them set to water at night so never seen the actual watering part). And he said nothing to me regarding a need to reprogram!!! He left my lawn in worse shape that when he came; I can only hope it will recover!! read more
