There is always something to see and do, and it's one of our favorite places to visit as a family. Today was extra special because we happened to be there for their first-ever Watermelon Festival! It was such a fun experience, with a great atmosphere, delicious farm-grown watermelon, and even a fun watermelon-eating contest. We also got very lucky and caught a special one-day promotion today: the unlimited ride wristband was only $20 instead of the usual $35! We took full advantage of it and had so much fun riding the attractions throughout the day. The watermelon was a wonderful surprise too -- they were giving out pieces of their own farm-grown watermelon, and it was incredibly sweet, juicy, and delicious! You could also buy a whole watermelon for just $5 today. The farm is always very clean and well maintained. Visitors and staff clearly take great care of the property, and we didn't see any trash anywhere. The restrooms were clean, and they also have private mother-and-child rooms, which is very convenient. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and smiling! We've been coming here year after year, and Bishop's Pumpkin Farm never disappoints. It's fun for kids and adults, the atmosphere is always wonderful, and every season brings something new to enjoy. We're already looking forward to coming back again!

Theres a huge parking lot, but be forewarned that it's quite dusty, so wear boots if you don't want to get too dirty. They had free mini watermelon slices to try, which was definitely a hit. Their watermelon is so sweet, it definitely sold us on buying a watermelon to take home ourselves. Because it's still early in the season, all day ride bracelets were affordable for $20. This especially came in handy because all the kids were able to ride to their hearts' content. Unfortunately, some rides like the train, also required adults to have tickets and/or wristbands as well (which I don't really like because the truth is, "I" don't even want to go, my kid just needs supervision smh. This was our first time at the watermelon festival and it won't be our last. .. pumpkin festivities, we're already anticipating your arrival :)

So driving up and seeing how many they had was super promising! We walked in, were greeted by a few of the workers offering their help when we find some etching we liked, and we went a searching. Let me say, they had a LOT of good looking trees! So why the 2-star rating? Well, we were greatly disappointed to see that NONE of the trees were being kept in any water! We'd touch the branches and needles, and some seemed aite, but all we kept thinking was, will this tree last till the New Year? We're a house that keeps the Xmas decor up through the first week of Jan before taking it all down. So that would mean an entire month, if not slightly more, for us needing the tree to last. And with them not being kept in water, we wondered how 'dead' they might already be. I braved to ask a worker how long have they had those trees, and couldn't believe he said for "maybe a week or so". I then made the comment/question of "and you don't keep them in any water?" He shook his head no and honestly, that made up Hubs' mind right then & there. I honestly couldn't believe these trees had already not been in water for that amount of time. If you Google, fresh cut Christmas trees only last 6-8hrs without water before they can no longer drink water. And they need the water to last 4-5 weeks! So, although many, many people do purchase from this lot year after year, I'm not sure how long their trees are lasting. On the plus side, their prices were fantastic!! But we just couldn't bring ourselves to buy even with those prices while having the thought of buying a tree that possibly was already partially dead and wouldn't drink water again. If Sutton's would 'splurge' on buckets or SOMETHING to keep those amazing trees in water on the lot, I'd consider giving them our business. So here, you may be getting what you pay for. We found ours here, and they gave us a great deal for a 12 footer, so we returned this year. They did not have the species this year that we usually get and they told us we could come back the following week when they got more in. My family and I went out to find a Christmas tree like we always do every year. We walk for at least an hour through the trees to find a barren land with poorly shaped trees in terrible condition. So we end up buying a pre-cut tree for double the price (which they import in from a different location). The tree is put on top of the car by seemingly teenagers and only a mile down the road, it falls off the car. So now I have to pull over just to secure the tree back on the car. Here we are, on December 21 and the tree has fully died, despite rushing it home and immediately putting it in water after cutting the trunk. This place seems to be run poorly and maybe even sets up a model for people to end up buying their more expensive, dying, pre-cut trees. They have surely made a Christmas memory for me I won't forget.
