I signed the corrected return; however, they submitted the original, incorrect version. This resulted in thousands of dollars being erroneously withdrawn from my account. They subsequently filed an amendment, but I was unable to recover the full amount from the IRS and state tax authority. Additionally, they assured me that no automatic payments had been set up. This proved to be false--a quarter later, my account was overdrawn due to automatic withdrawals they had failed to disclose. Throughout this process, they have continued to send emails soliciting further engagement and payment reminders, and their communication has been notably unprofessional. When I reached out to the office for clarification, I was told it would cost an additional $250 just to review the return and address questions or corrections. I do not believe it is appropriate to charge a client to fix or explain a potential error made during the original preparation. What's more concerning is that I was told that because I reviewed and signed the return, they are not responsible for assisting further. This is unrealistic...clients rely on professionals for their expertise, especially for complex areas like depreciation, which are not easily understood or verified without specialized knowledge. This experience reflects very poor customer service and lack of accountability. I would not recommend this firm and would advise others to seek a preparer who stands behind their work.
