I brought my Saab in on a few occasions before I realized things didn't add up. Each time I brought my car there the owner informed me minor parts were missing from my car. The second time they informed me that parts were missing from my car, I reminded them you told me this last time parts were missing from my car. The horn stopped working the last time I brought my car there I called and visited Rossi's to have them look at it, but no one followed up with me. Since Rossi's did not follow up with me I had my car serviced by another mechanic who told me that a fuse in my electrical box was missing. Someone at the shop is stealing parts so beware! read more

If you own a Saab or any of the Germans and you live anywhere near Silver Spring, this is the place to bring your car. Rod and crew are genuinely friendly and willing to even show you little things about your car that you never knew about. I own a 12 yr old Saab that I plan on keeping forever and I know these guys will help me with that. I had my car towed to Rossi's for repair after a recommendation from another local shop. They called me to ask me if a particular service had been done ..and if so when. My son, who is an automotive technician had always done the work on my cars until he moved to Arizona 3 years ago. I informed my son what Rossi's diagnosed and what the repairs would cost. He agreed with their assessment and said that the cost was in line with the cost of the parts and the man hours in labor to complete the repairs . He had done that particular repair to the car in 2011. I had been looking for a shop to MY repair shop for my cars since my son moved. I have found my new car repair shop and it is Rossi's. Second visit and second car, 2007 Toyota Fj cruiser with 155k miles. I know Rossi's primarily service Mercedes, BMW etc, but since I was so pleased with the first visit, I had to return. My differential was leaking and some rattling noises from the left front suspension. Noise diagnosed and fixed. I also purchased new front shocks. As for the leak, I was advised to take the Fj back to where I bought it since the previous repair job was poorly done. Rod, the owner took pictures on his smartphone and showed me. He identified precisely where the leaks were and where the poorly installed gasket(s) were. He said "Take the car back, show them the pictures of their work and ask them to repair it" He said, he could charge me hundreds for the repair if his shop did the work, "but free is better". So, I took the Fj back to the dealer. FJ is now leak free and it didn't cost a dime. Thank you Rod for your honesty. I will return for my next service. read more

Rossi's was a pleasure to work with and did excellent work on my Saab. It's not easy to find shops to work on Saabs these days but they gave me an immediate appointment, quickly diagnosed the issue, presented the options in a customer-friendly way, and got the work done right away. Rod Donoso probably knows more about these cars (Saab, BMW, Benz, Volvo) than many of the men who designed and built them. His father repaired even higher-end cars (Ferrari, Maserati) and Rod learned how to treat cars and how to treat people. He does both very well, in my judgment. His little shop is nearly always filled with 15-20 cars. If he was ripping people off, as someone has suggested, his place wouldn't be as filled as it is. People with the money to maintain cars like these don't generally put up with shoddy work. Rod and his team do excellent work. I've only once felt over-charged here, and that was 15 years ago when his brother-in-law ran the shop and set the fees. Following one expensive encounter with the brother-in-law, I stayed away for years. A few years ago, I brought my Saab in and met Rod, who has proven to be a very fair businessman and a thoroughly enjoyable man to know. I never feel over-charged by him, even though some costs turn out to be high because of the nature of the vehicles and the cost of their parts. I'm picky about the shops that work on my cars. I have a few BMW's ranging from an '88 restoration project to my wife's '06 daily driver. I've been to a number of the "reputable" independent shops in the area, and have always been disappointed. Rod has never failed me and I trust him to work on all of my cars. He is a straight shooter who can take care of your cars without breaking your wallet. Most importantly, he is responsive and meets his deadlines. Everyone at the shop has always been incredibly friendly, respectful, and most importantly, extremely knowledgeable about the cars they work on. Also, Rod walks you through what is wrong and shows you the broken or degraded parts. The shop doesn't have a pristine waiting room or someone to greet you at the door, it is a car repair shop. My brother told me about Rossi.... said he was not only a good human being, but an honorable business person as well. My brother said he would give you as many reasonable options as possible on any given repair, and would give me fair pricing as well. I brought my old bmw and left it with the folks there. There was a wife imposed budget to put in this car, and let Rossi know what the limits were. Not only did he call back daily on the progress of the repairs, he made suggestions that would save me money, and he never pressed me trying to up-sell a service of a particular kind of part. Just good, honest, respectful conversation around the repair. Since then, i bring all of my vehicle to him, because i trust him as his staff. Two great things: 1- they will take you to the metro if you need.... and they asked me! 2- my wife likes and trusts Rossi. she says it's because he is clearly an honest businessman. I say its because he could be the cover picture of a romance novel. The clutch cable on my Saab 900 broke on the drive home the other day. A friend has told me about Rossi's for years and I was about a mile away so I had the tow truck take it there. Rod was great to work with -- he was there well after hours and responded to my call that I was dropping the car. The car was fixed in a couple of days and they also took care of a brake issue and oil change. I thought the price was reasonable as well. The car is running well. They also followed up with text to ask if everything was OK - something I have never experienced elsewhere. read more

Rod and his team at Rossi's are good at what they do, and in my experience very trustworthy. Yes, it is true that repairs there can be a bit more expensive than some other places. However, Rod always takes the time to explain things very well, often holding on to the damaged or broken parts or taking me to he car to see for myself. When they fix something, it is fixed. None of this bringing it back 2 or 3 times to get it right. Bottom line is that you get what you pay for. If you have a nice car, maybe give them a try. read more

Saab is NOT a difficult or expensive car to work on, especially pre-2003 one. In fact, unlike most modern Euro cars, this one is designed to be easy to work on, and parts are cheap, unlike BMW's and Audi's. Anyway, my few attempts with these guys always ended up in estimates sky-high and wrong diagnosis. I once paid them $19 for a spare fog light bulb only to discover later that its a $3.95 at AutoParts (no labor was involved, installed myself). Viking Automotive is a much better service, always spot-on and always inexpensive. read more

Rod is extremely professional and honest. I needed a minor repair. Replacing a headlight bulb in my Mercedes. Extremely reasonable price and fixed it on the spot in less than 15 minutes. When I called he gave me an broad estimate with details about what may or may not be needed for the repair. Luckily I was on the low end. We were traveling home to upstate New York from DC when we heard an unidentified noise in the front end. We located this shop online, called in, and waited overnight to have them assess the 2003 Saab's problem. It was snowing. Driving was treacherous. We could have easily been convinced to spend the extra time and money on a needed repair, and had steeled ourselves to the prospect. After moving at least half a dozen other cars out of the way to get us on a lift, Rod and his crew did a complete workup, identified the extent of the problem, and assured us that while it needed to be done, we could safely make it home the 400 miles to our local service shop. He spent an hour with us. He charged $40, although the hourly rate is more than twice that. I would have gladly trusted them with the repair, and recommend this shop highly. read more

Rod and his crew have been amazingly responsive with little problems as well as big ones. They have worked on my husband's Volvo and on my Passat...example: dealer said it would be $1900 to fixed the heater core and he fixed the problem for $95 (obviously not the heater core). They work quickly and are very straightforward about what needs to be done and why; I trust them totally.
