I had a great experience with this auto shop. They were able to get me in the same day I called, then they gave my car a good inspection, and showed me exactly what needed work. They did not pressure me to get anything I didn't want done. I decided to get a lot of work done, which meant leaving the car overnight, so Yang gave me a ride to and from the metro station. I went to four different body shops to have body repair estimates after an accident. All other three body shops' estimates indicating that the quarter panel of my vehicle had to be replaced by cutting the damaged quarter panel from vehicle and welding a new one, which not only will compromise the safety of my vehicle, but also will skyrocket the repair costs (from $3600-$7500). Mr. Eric Yuan (the owner) told me that he can repair the damaged area without cutting & welding at very reasonable price (less than $2000). Be warned: This is perhaps the worst place to get your car fixed, or you could say, the best place to "cheaply" get your car fixed and have it break down again. I had an older Accord fixed here several months ago. This car broke down again a couple of days ago. I took it to another auto mechanic. Apparently they didn't screw tight or align the distributor cause a complete breakdown of the vehicle. So nice knowing they don't pay attention to detail here. This review is not about the shop's mechanical repair expertise and quality of results. It is specifically about customer communication. For several years I had generally very good experience with the shop. But ever since the loss of the woman in the front office as a liason between mechanics and customers, it has become the most frustrating, exasperating experience I've ever had with any repair shop. The communication, and follow-up about status of work, is so bad that I would probably not go back to them. I think the woman I refer to is named Ailee. This is where I bring my car when I need to get it fixed. Fair prices, fast service, and they will try to move heavens to try to get your car serviced on the fly. I can't tell you how many times I've brought my car to this place (I live in DC and have to deal with street parking) and they always manage to get my car fixed without breaking my budget. I absolutely cannot say enough nice things about Mr. Chen and his staff. We travelled down to Bethesda from New Hampshire, and while we were there the brakes on our Dodge Caravan gave out completely. We initially went to Midas and received a really high estimate that we simply couldn't afford, so we looked up local places and settled on this place, and we are so glad that we did. Mr. Chen was very candid and honest with us- he let us know that our van was basically a bust, but that he would be able to replace the brake lines as a temporary solution so that we could at least get back home to NH. Because we had to leave our van there, Mr. Chen offered to drive us to the metro station to make it easier for us to get back to our hotel. He even told us to call him for a ride from the metro station when we picked the van up if we needed to! The work was done well, and he didn't overcharge us or do any unnecessary work. So if you come here, you're going to get honesty and a fair price. And on top of that, Mr. Chen is truly one of the nicest people we have ever met; he truly cared about us and wanted to make sure that we got home safely. Can't recommend this place enough! They also found an issue that wasn't noticed while creating the quote, but they took initiative to fix it and I did not have to pay extra for it. A Quality Auto Body & Services did an amazing body repair on our 15 passenger Chevy van. If it were not for the recommendation of a trusted friend I would have never gone there and I am glad that I did. Despite A Quality not having substantial Yelp reviews, and a shop location in the back-corner of a tiny and very tired industrial park. And, when you are near the shop you are not sure you are there. You can hardly find the shop's glass front door hidden behind a stairway. During my visits I found A Quality's office busy with satisfied customers. Mr. Yang Chen, the shop's proprietor, got right to giving me a quote. His quote beat the competition by hundreds of dollars. My van was no minor job. I had side-swiped the side of the van. From the rear taillight, with five deep horizontal gashes about four feet long, from the window to the rocker panel, the paint was peeled to the metal. I had a really bad encounter with a parking garage concrete post. Mr. Chen asked to start work the next day and said it would be done in two days, and that is exactly what he did. My other bidder could not start work for a week and required four or five days to complete it. Something we could not do. I was a leery about quality and Mr. Chen assured me his shop would "do a good job." And they really did. It was done on time. But more important, there was not a trace of the body damage and they masterfully matched the paint. A few days later I looked the van over closer from all angles and could find no flaws in A Quality's body or paint work. It really was a quality job. It's out of the way, but he's got signs, heck even a truck painted to lead you to the right place in the industrial park. His prices quoted were a quarter of what another body shop wanted to charge. Instead of replacing an entire hood, they repaired and repainted and it was a perfect match. They are fast and the work is impeccable. Another driver rear-ended my car and his insurance company, GEICO, seriously low-balled their repair estimate. GEICO also tried to get me to take my car to one of their affiliate shops. The GEICO affiliate shop committed to only repainting half the bumper and wanted me pony up an extra $300 upfront out my own pocket if I wanted the bumper replaced. I also had many concerns about the shop itself from the negative reviews on Yelp. Instead I went with A Quality because they had great yelp reviews and were very highly rated in both price and quality on Washington Checkbook. I'm glad I went with A Quality. Mr. Chen knew how to grease the wheels and got GEICO to pony up all the cash needed to properly repair the car, including several elements that GEICO had neglected in their initial estimate. GEICO dragged their feet to send out another assessor, but Mr. Chen got the work done quickly and precisely. GEICO still only reimbursed the shop for half my bumper to be repainted, but Mr. Chen repainted the entire bumper at no additional charge. Now my entire bumper looks brand-spanking-new. The quality of the work was very good. If you looked very closely at the bumper, you could see that a little paint spilled over on the embossed lettering, but even that I was able to remove that with my fingernail and a few minutes of patience. Mr. Chen is not a native English speaker, so sometimes it can be a little difficult to communicate, but I found that a little patience and asking a few simply-phrased clarifying questions were able to help bridge the gap. I don't write a lot of Yelp reviews, but I am making a point to write this one because I am so impressed with A Quality Auto Body. They were fair, they were fast, and their work, indeed, gets an "A" in quality, despite the cheesiness of that. I drove a rental car down from NYC to suburban Maryland, and it got scratched on the way. My credit card comes with rental car insurance, and I didn't want to deal with the rental company paperwork and having to have them get a repair quote. So I checked the Yelp reviews near where I was in Maryland, and took the car in to Mr. Chen. This was at like 4 p.m. on a Saturday. I had to return the car to the rental company the next day, Sunday, which happened to be the Chinese New Year. Mr. Chen and his whole family were about to go out for a Chinese New Year Dinner that evening. Mr. Chen gave me a quote, which was not cheap but not outrageous, and he went the extra mile to have one of his guys do the work that night and the following Sunday morning, even though A Quality Auto was technically closed that day, so that I could pick the car up that morning, and take it back to New York. And that is exactly what happened, without a hitch. Now that is service. As another reviewer said, both the office experience and the entire back alley vibe were a little bit surreal/sketchy, but the work was perfect, the paint job was so good that I literally could not see where the work had been done.
