I did a search on Yelp to find a auto body shop near my job after a cab driver hit my car. I found Hanagan's, and I am so happy I did. From the very first time I walked in, I got that old school feeling. They just seemed like they know what they are doing. The atmosphere is real layed back, but not in a rude sort of way. I received an estimate in 15 minutes with a smile. They even put a quarter in my meter so that I wouldn't get a ticket while I waited. Two weeks later, I scheduled to bring my car in. They ordered my parts with a $300 deposit the day before I dropped it off. I took my car in on Wednesday, and it was ready on Thursday evening. They even offered me a ride back to work which is a couple of blocks away. I paid approximately $1000 (actually the cab driver's insurance) in total, and my car looks better than before the accident. I spoke to Anthony, who immediately came out and, after providing a detailed estimate, made sure I had no questions before I left my car there. They texted me every other day letting me know the status of the car and it was available exactly when they said it would be. Happy to report the car came out looking great. They even provided a small refund on the cost and labor of a small cosmetic part they had originally quoted that had come off in the collision (they were unable to obtain it from the manufacturer due to longterm backorder), a part/cost I would never have noticed had Anthony not been adamant about the refund. This place is a little hidden gem, tucked away on a nondescript street just down from the downtown Silver Spring shopping district. IIRC, the shop was a little on the pricy side, but the quality and timeliness of the service could not be beat. I had an excellent experience with Hanagan's. I found this shop through my auto insurance, and was happy to see the excellent reviews. I did a lot of research before dropping off my car, which still had temp tags at the time of the unfortunate incident that required body work. I wanted to work with a Porsche-certified auto body shop, but none of them had nearly as good reviews as Hanagan's. So... 1. Customer Service- Excellent. I walked in first thing on a Monday to drop off my car without calling ahead.The woman at the front desk was very helpful, and even called my insurance company to speak with someone when I was unsuccessfully negotiating my drop off on my own. Paperwork was quick and easy. 2. Car Service- Excellent. The Hanagan's team was quick, efficient, flexible, and HONEST. They kept me up to date with phone calls and texts throughout the process. Parts were ordered for my car the day of dropoff, and the car was ready for pick up first thing Fri am. I scratched the side door of our car (2002 Acura MDX) in a parking garage. The estimate was over $1,000 which wasn't worth it because the car is so old (over 200,000 miles). Instead, I asked them if they could just try to make it look "less bad" for a couple hundred bucks which what I was willing to spend so my dad wouldn't keep mentioning the scratch when we visited. They ended up covering up the rust on the wheel well which definitely helped with appearances. They weren't, however, able to do much with the other dents and scratches on the door so they ended up not charging me anything. read more

It doesn't get better than Hanagan's and their people when it comes to taking care of you and your car. Last year, my car was annihilated while parked along the street. Hanagan's was a choice covered by my insurance, so I chose them. Holy smokes, I couldn't have made a better decision if I had tried. Sean took my car in and stayed in communication with me throughout the whole process. He kept me appraised of what certain insurance procedures and timelines were, and emailed (per my request instead of phone calls) me updates regularly over the month it took to do all the repairs. My car came back looking and feeling brand new. Since this occurrence, I have returned twice, as well as sent my husband and two close friends. Every single visit has been nothing short of ideal. Customer service is top notch and friendly. The waiting room is clean and comfortable. There's always laughter in the room. Hanagan's cares about its customers, a fact which is exemplified by their quality work and excellent customer service. I originally took my car there for some body work after an unfortunate run in with a column in my parking garage... I was new to the auto repair process and didn't know that you should call ahead to schedule a time to get an estimate. They were able to fit me in anyway and I only waited a few minutes for the owner to take a look at my car and write up an estimate. One of the best parts of the experience is the communication preferences form that they give you to fill out when you drop your car off. They ask how and when you would like to receive information and updates, either by phone email or text and whether you would like daily updates or just notification when the work is done. I think this small step goes beyond just providing good service as they make you feel that your time is important too and that they want to minimize the inconvenience of having work done on your car. They also worked seamlessly with my insurance company - USAA. The location is a little unusual, although it is an easy walk to the Silver Spring metro. It is on a block with a dozen other auto repair shops and a little hidden however the building is clearly marked and there is metered parking nearby. I have recommended Hanagan's to friends and family and my sister has used them twice for minor body work on her car, even though it is not a convenient location for her she and her husband have been so impressed with the service and value using a trustworthy company that they feel it is well worth their trip which I think is saying a lot considering how many other auto body shops there are in the area. read more

Recommended by my usual car repair place (Murray's), Hanagan's did not disappoint me. My car was rear-ended, and the repair cost was covered by insurance (or will be, eventually...) so they naturally spiffed it up a lot more than I would have payed for, had I been paying. Of course they fixed up the bumper, replacing the cover and repairing a lot of other incidental damage; they also gave the car a thorough washing (it was really dirty when I brought it in) and vacuumed it out. Beyond all that, they straightened out a dent in one of my panels that wasn't caused by the accident, because they don't like to paint over dents. For free! Woo. By a quirk of fate, a bird flew into the side of my car on the highway about a month ago--loud clonk and then it actually fell inside an open window onto the back seat. I kept finding feathers in weird places after that--in the trunk, tucked into crevices in the dash. After I took the car to Hanagan's, no more feathers. No more bird crap on the inside of the back window. They didn't mess with the blood stain on the seat, but I don't blame them. (Ew, I know. It was much worse to actually have to get the bird out of the car.) I can't comment on prices, since I wasn't trying to be frugal, but I hear from others that they're fair. They're one of the oldest auto body shops in Silver Spring. If you need to have insurance work done, I can't recommend them enough (they're an authorized repair facility with State Farm, at least; not sure about other agencies). They have a night-time drop-off slot, but make sure to bring an envelope to put your keys in and something to write on it with. Parking is on the street. read more

I decided to use Hanagan's and am very pleased I used them. The whole process was seamless. They kept me updated on every step, and took time to explain to me the work they would be doing. The estimated repair was time given was a week, and the work was completed within the estimated time. When I picked the car up, it looked like new, again. I can't say enough! I got my car repaired here after a car crash. I felt terrible that my car was so banged up, but the guys at the shop made it a seamless repair. I was told it would take about two weeks, but I got my car in 10 days. It was pricey, but I only had to pay the deductible. And my car...She was in tip top shape! Or so I thought! A week later I was leaving church, when my car decided it wouldn't start. I called AAA and they showed me how corroded and hideous my car battery was. Mind you, I got this car a year ago, supposedly brand new battery in at the time of purchase. The battery was corroded down through the battery cables. I was quoted $900 from koons ford in silver spring. I went on a limb and called Hanagans to let them know, though I wasn't sure if it were caused by the car crash. Excellent experience with Hanagan's. They did an estimate for me and worked with me as I tried to navigate the insurance stuff. Their prices seemed fair and were in line with other estimates I received (within 10%). Most importantly, they did a great job on my car and it looked as good as new. And they did it within the stated time frame. I worked with Sean, who I think is the son of the owner. He was really knowledgeable. It's definitely a family business and they all seem to be very dedicated. I will note that a few days later there was an issue with an electrical component. They told me to stop by at any time and they took a look and fixed it (it hadn't been fully reconnected after the repair) in less than 15 minutes. Sean also gave me some advice on fixing an unrelated issue, which was helpful. They have a cool little text messaging system that gives you an update on how things are going. I appreciated that. I took my BMW 328i in for a low beam bulb replacement. I had looked on Youtube on how to do it and while I could manage, it wouldn't be easy because the easiest way to do a simple bulb replacement probably involved removing the tire to gain better access to the panel in the wheel well. I arrived at 8:15 at Hanagans and Sean took a look at it, said have a seat, have a cup of coffee (complimentary) and I'll get one of the guys to replace it for you. Half an hour later, Sean returns my key fob and says I'm set to go. I ask him how much? NO CHARGE. I go, really? Can I at least pay you for the replacement bulb. Sean says it costs a couple of bucks just remembers us if you need any other work. I will do so. Where does one get that kind of service in today's world?!! Kudos to Hanagans!!! read more
