Let the buyer beware!! Roto Rooter in Scranton, Dunmore, Clarks Summit and surrounding areas are all run by the same office. From my experience, the reason Roto Rooter of Scranton has a high rating because when the bill is presented for payment, not only does the technician rave about the Thursday motivational meetings that teach how to get the most from each customer, his skills at distraction are far better than that of plumbing or septic repair. What seems like a canned infomercial goes on about how every customer who leaves a review is entered into a drawing to win $500. Since I am finally submitting a review, please consider this my entry. At least if I should win the drawing if in fact there is one, it will bring my loss to $3600 instead of $4100! After this gleaming review of Roto Rooter, the technician went on to say that their charges are high because technicians work ON CALL and ON COMMISSION so they never know how much income to expect. The technician in question had a gofundme page for a few hundred dollar fix for his old pick up truck, yet thinks it fine to steal from unsuspecting customers. Further, if you contact the office, the representative will insist Roto Rooter of Scranton is part of the corporate structure, however Roto Rooter's corporate office insists Roto Rooter of Scranton is a contractor using the Roto Rooter name. There isn't any way to enforce policy, if such such a policy even exists. A technician, which the Scranton office said was their most honest and capable employee disconnected the septic, illegally dumped over 1000 gallons of raw sewage on an adjacent property, and caused $4100 damage to date. By the time the repair is complete it will cost nearly $20,000. The Department of Environmental Protection has opened an investigation, while Mr. Roeder, the manager of the Scranton office informed Amy Whitmore from the office that oversees Roto Rooter's contractor division that he does not have any intention of questioning his employee or looking into this matter until such time the DEP presses charges! It's the start of a long anticipated 4th of July weekend. The weather is supposed to be great. Just one more load of wash to finish up. Do I hear water dripping? Oh yes I do. The utility sink where the washer drains is overflowing. The drain must be blocked-- no there's nothing blocking it. It must be clogged. Bail out the sink. Get the plunger, grab some drain opener. Plunger not helping. Pour in drain opener. Wait. Wait. Wait. How can this be? The sink is filling up again. It's Saturday night on s holiday weekend. Now what? Wait til Tuesday? Stay awake the whole time to protect us from flooding? No. Call Roto Rooter. Maybe only have to wait til tomorrow. So I call. Answering service takes info-- they'll have someone call. So I sit down to wait. 5 minutes and my phone rings. Emil says he'll be right over. I'm amazed. He arrives, assesses the problem, snakes our main line and is finished within less than 1 hour. It doesn't get any better than this. Yes it does, the work is guaranteed for six months. Thank you Emil, thank you Roto Rooter. read more

Roto-Rooter did a great job today. When Lee came out today, he was efficient, knowledgeable, and was able to take care of a sewer line backup within an hour. He offered me a number of other services, including a chance to put a camera on the line to see the problem, and although I didn't purchase that service, he was extremely positive, and took care of business. read more

Representative showed up exactly on time and was very friendly and professional. Our sewer line was blocked up and he got it open very quickly and camerad the line, letting us watch it on the screen and assured us that the line was fine. We were very happy with the service. Julie Hill read more
