I called to get an estimate. They sent a young man must have just gotten out of High School he knew nothing about plumbing.. The clothes washing machine wasn't draining properly I knew that it was due to the vent on the roof but he only made things worse by cutting drain hose shorter. I needed a snake approximately a 40 to 50 foot to get the drain unclog I called to get an estimate for plumbing services. They sent a young man who looked like he had just graduated from high school, but he didn't seem to have much knowledge about plumbing. These guys were great back in 2005, replace half of our ancient clay sewer line. Came out in September for a clog, and did the speech: gotta replace the line. Liked those guys, though $500+ for a line clog is too much. So now the time has come; looked back and the charge was to Cartwright. Found out you gotta call the "Roto" number or the same woman who answers both phones gets POd. So call the Roto number 3 weeks ago, got guys out camering (a verb in Roto-speak) the line, and then again, with a skinny guy to go under the house. NOT GOOD! Patient may die.... On Wednesday, nice real guy said estimate on Monday the 8th. Called on Thursday -- promised estimator would call on Friday. Called next Monday, gonna get it ..... blah blah blah. Called on 15th at 10 AM, same woman tells me "O" will take care of it, get right back. This is Friday around 6 PM. No call. No action. If there is any government complaint system, I will go all out to can this bunch at Cartwright who can't do anything right (though actual working guys were great!). Put competent people on the phones! Actually USE the online system some traveling salesclown sold you, which your phone girl still doesn't know exists. Every time, every 6 times i've talked to this same person, we have to start over, and she interrupts and promises (not really), and NOTHING HAPPENS. I'm giving up on Cartwright/RotoRooter. They are not the competent timely workers of the past. The office/phone staff is insulting and incomptent. Now, if only I could find any competent company in Santa Fe. We're at about a 9 to 1 ratio of incompetent to possibly competent. I've spent hundreds of hours, with almost now results, not in the last 5 weeks on sewer, electrical, and appliance repair. I hesitate to think how to get some building contractors or stucco repair or roof repair! read more

If I could give a zero, I would. Had a serious sewage back flow into 2 bathrooms. Called Roto-Rooter. Got a call from a guy named Santiago who showed up at my house with his "camera" which he never plugged in nor was there a video display. He never once tried to snake the evacuation pipe. After over an hour he said the pipe would need to be dug up (he still never snaked it) and he would be back later in the evening with a helper - he never showed, but did forget his "camera". He returned at 7am Sunday morning to pick up the forgotten camera saying he had an emergency in Los Alamos (wait... I have two sewage filled bathrooms - I'm not an emergency?) took off promising to return by 11am and that was the last I heard from Santiago. Called another local company (TLC) got a call back in 20 minutes and the guy was here in under an hour. He snaked the pipe and was done in under 10 minutes. Oh... and the final cost was less than 1/2 of what Roto-Rooter quoted. read more

We called Roto-Rooter in Santa Fe twice previously to root our kitchen sink drain and were pleased with the timeliness, service and price. So when we needed our drain rooted again we called and made an appointment for them to come out. The repairman couldn't make it by 2pm and finally had to call and schedule the appointment for the next morning. Two men came out and resolved the plugged line within half an hour. Everything went smoothly until they handed me the bill for $400, twice the amount I had been charged 18 months previously. Called the office to see if there was a mistake. No, they were under new management and prices were set by corporate. Basically, I was stone walled. They are no longer the low priced, timely company I had experienced in the past. So, will never do business with Roto-Rooter again. read more

We hired Roto Rooter Santa Fe to travel here to Taos. They were three hours past the arrival time window. They asserted they found the leak in a main water line. A full day on a backhoe did not discover any leak or water in this area. The equipment relied on my supplying a heavy metal bar to pierce the ground. The equipment they had was not able to do this. I was not provided with a price before services except for travel mileage. read more

Are they pricy? Yeah, probably, but I called 7 supposedly 24/7 plumbers on a Sunday and they're the only ones who responded. Their tech kept me updated about his ETA throughout the day, and was willing to come out at 10 at night if I needed it. We postponed to the next day, and I was contacted promptly the next morning for scheduling, and a friendly and efficient team was done and out of here by 11:30. To me, totally worth it. read more

I called to schedule a leak detection service which is specified on website as a service that Roto Rooter offers. Modern underground water leak detectors are sensitive and accurate - and allow our team to create repair your pipe as quickly and efficiently as possible. I was called by the "plumber" before the scheduled appointment who asked what was going on. After I explained that I had an underground leak between water meter and house, he informed me that he couldn't find it unless there was visible signs of wet area. I indicated that the reason for the appointment was explained to Bo at scheduling conversation the day before. The "plumber" who I believe is Santiago, told me that they were a "plumbing company not a leak detection company". I informed him that the website and schedulers gave me the impression it was something rotorooter did, and that he should discuss it with upper management as it seemed he was unaware of what his company actually did. After several more excuses from Santiago, I asked if he was going to be able to provide me the scheduled service or not, and he hung up on me. I called the office to let them know of the rude and unexpected treatment, in which I was put on hold to speak with a manager, until I lost interest and hung up. No call back. I then received an email that informed of the cancelation of my appointment And a coupon for my next service. As if I cancelled voluntarily? I had to take a day off from work to be treated this way and I still have an underground leak somewhere costing me additional money. Zero stars in my book. A sad excuse for honest business practices. NOTE: Roto Rooter is a franchise so this review only pertains to the one listed hereby. Another note: They only have a PO BOX on their invoice. So you can not even stop by the office to talk in person. No website, no email, no names of owners or managers. Was charged for half an hour of actual time on a holiday $550 dollars. I was not quoted a price, which should have been volunteered, not realizing this could be this insanely high, where normally my plumber charges around $200 for this. I expected a bit more due to Holiday time. But not two and a half times more. I called twice to reach someone and no one bothered calling back as they knew full well I wanted to speak of the charges. So I called again to negotiate the already charged to my cc price and I was immediately treated defensively that these are their NORMAL charges and we were the only ones to show up so we did you a favor. I mentioned that it would have been cheaper to go into a motel for another 2 nights and wait for the regular plumber to show. Then he offered $50 off.... That's the equivalent of a 10% coupon.... Seriously, and now I was accused of extorting money ? I'm a business owner and he very unprofessionally accused me of extortion. It's called negotiating. One can only negotiate IF one has something to offer in exchange. That is doing business. It looks more that it was Roto Rooter was taking advantage off a bad situation I was in. (during the Gold Rush days, shovels were sold for crazy prices. IN those days, there was no negotiating, no internet) And, I called before writing this review on Yelp, advance notice, to negotiate and gave the option of warning the public as in Freedom of Speech. I'm not saying don't use them, I can't tell anyone what to do, I'm saying SHOP AROUND and GET Quotes. I never saw this coming. I had $300 cash on me, I thought that would be it. But, i was hurriedly asked to sign their form AFTER the fact. The form on the back side which I should have been told to read by the technician, because I signed under duress. It also states HOW TO RESOLVE A PROBLEM and to contact the manager at the listed nr. Well I did, and not with great reception. So, No thank you to the 10% offer, $200 off that would have been ok, but, for $50 i choose to warn the people to make sure to shop for services, even on a Holiday and not fall for the outrageous charges. One man and one machine half an hour. machine that one can rent at Home Depot for under $100.-- I don't know anyone else than the other Franchise which I have not done business with, but even my regular plumber was shocked. I will not recommend anyone else. But, don't let this company or any company take you to the cleaners... read more

The tech Ken Luna was very helpful with unclogging my shower drain. He walked me through what and what not to do to get it taken care of. He didn't even have to come out to look at it and saved me money. read more

The plumber who came out did a good job, but the billing was dishonest, and they made no attempt to make it right, so I felt the need to warn other customers. Even though they claim that they offer to come out and look at your situation and give you an estimate for free, they charge a $20 "trip fee," apparently regardless of where you live, since I live right in the middle of Santa Fe (it might make sense if you lived far from town, etc.) and they don't include this fee in their estimate. This is particularly annoying because their fee for service during business hours is already $170/hour, which is nearly $50 more than my regular plumber charges. I would not recommend this company unless you absolutely need service immediately (which in this case I did, so I didn't have much of a choice). read more

Extremely disappointing. Promised to arrive Saturday morning......call @ 1:00 pm, can't make it. Promised to arrive to fix the problem Sunday morning.....a complete no show.
