We hired Art's Plumbing to remodel our shower and to move the floor drain. We were originally told by Adrian they would work on a 'time and materials' basis of $200 per hour. The assistant plumber was left to excavate the floor and the lead plumber didn't return to the end of the day. (Our radiant heating pipes were damaged during their work.) We were then told that the business owner would need to approve the continuation of the project. Four days later Adrian called to say the remainder of the project would cost $2,600. We opted to finish the project with another local plumber who we could trust. Art's would not be responsible for repairing the radiant floor pipes they damaged because we opted to finish the job with another plumber. We wouldn't use Art's Plumbing again if they were the last plumber in Santa Fe. read more

Because it's high demand job, they show up whenever they want. Charge whatever they want. I guess when I hired 3 yrs ago, they were new. Now, they say I see you tomorrow. And a helper just stands next to him hand over tools and the invoice shows $180 for helper on top of the total charge. O still need a job done but they don't answer phone anymore. I highly recommend Art's plumbing for ALL your plumbing needs! This is a family run business owned by Art Cota with his son, Adrian, and crew. Art's Plumbing was recommended to me by Paul Davis during an very difficult time with mold remediation and reconstruction in the middle of winter. Art did extensive and outstanding work for me then and over a period of months. (1) He replaced an old Slant Fin boiler and hot water heater with a Navien tankless combo system and water circulation pump for on-demand hot water at all faucets. (2) He installed a top rated descaler unit for the Navien unit. (3) He replaced the piping, drains, and the shower fixture in the bathroom. (4) He installed new hot water heater baseboards in three rooms through tile and wood. (5) He removed my 73 year old cast iron sewer system under the house as well as the old clay sewer system outside house after a backup that caused 2 leaks in the cast iron under the house and tree roots outside in all clay piping. He disposed of old piping. (6) He removed and replaced old corroded gas line pipes throughout the house and disposed of old pipe. (7) He secured proper permits and worked with the county and inspectors and line locators throughout these projects. (8) He replaced an old toilet with a new one and installed a hand-operated bidet on it. (9) He put the dishwasher and washer back on line and repaired a bad leak in the washer line. (10) He installed crawlspace vent fans for me to keep the area dry. It has been a real pleasure working with Art, Adrian, and crew. They are very professional, very hard working, courteous, friendly, communicative, extremely knowledgeable (and able to come up with innovative solutions to some difficult problems). They are exceptional people to be relied on and trusted. They always made a great effort before work and after to keep all areas clean. When they say they'll be at your house, they will be! During last winter in the coldest part, our heater died. Art's plumbing came out and replaced the entire system. The house is in a trust and they worked with my brother in Hawaii (an electrical engineer) to discuss the need and arrange payment. The are back this spring to fix the water shut-off to he house (major) and other (minor) plumbing repairs. They have been consistently prompt, knowledgeable, hardworking and considerate. These guys showed up and did nothing to diagnose the problem. They were just looking for things to charge for. They wanted $300 to flush my hot water heater system. I agree it needs to be flushed but seems outrageous for 40 min of work - I'm just going to do it myself. And they want to be paid for an hour of work for just showing up for 5 minutes. We've had pretty good experiences with Art -- and his son. We've had them out a few times (for this, or for that). They are pretty good, but not very cheap-- but-- not as bad as many other plumbers in town-- so not a total rip off. We will keep them coming out (as needed) simply for not ripping us off as badly as many others around Santa Fe do. read more

Terrible experience. I was told that a permit that costs less than $50 dollars costed over $500. I paid for it in good faith. As the permit expired because of delays caused by Covid I needed another permit and this time he asked for $250. Note all he has to do to renew a permit is to go online and spend 2 minutes of his time. In his broken English, which becomes more broken when it is convenient to deceive the customers, he explains that if you do not like it then you can get your own permit as he is a licensed plumber. However the whole job was given to BECAUSE he is a licensed plumber and the permit is part of the job itself. This was just one sample of the changes that he made to our agreement. I am stuck in having to finish 2 jobs with him, but I do not recommend him. If you do decide to work with him, have everything in writing and make sure to add that the quote is to complete the job and not to partially complete it and then having to pay more even though you had gotten the quote on location and it was very clear that quote was intended for its entire job and not part of it. read more
