The venue was PACKED, and getting around felt chaotic because of the sheer number of people. Leaving after the show was by far the worst part. Traffic and rideshare pickup were a mess, and we ended up waiting around for over an hour before our ride was able to get anywhere near us. It was incredibly frustrating and there seemed to be very little organization for getting people out efficiently. The bathroom situation after the show was also awful. We checked two different sections of porta-potties and none of the ones we tried had toilet paper. For a venue hosting that many people, bathrooms need to be adequately stocked throughout the entire event. On the positive side, getting into the venue from VIP parking was quick and easy, our seats were good, and once we were settled in we had a great view of the show. I'd come back for an artist I really wanted to see, but I would absolutely plan ahead for a difficult exit and would not rely on rideshare being easy after a sold-out show.

It's randomly located in District 1 of GLC and right at one of the "corners" of the mall where I believe it used to be a Bed Bath & Beyond location or something, so it's one of the really big store spaces. It's a massive space and that meant plenty of room for all the different Friends exhibits! My friend and I went at 4:30 pm on a weekday and there was barely anyone there! I'm curious to know what this place looks like on the weekend as when we walked in, there were the line ropes in place that seemed to indicate they normally get long queue lines. I was glad for no lines though and just being able to take as much time throughout the experience as possible for my friend and I - it was such fun! All the workers are so friendly and there are so many photo ops! I would highly recommend taking as many pictures as you can with your own phone because the spots where photographers are taking your photos means at the end of the exhibits, once you get to the gift shop to view all your photos, you'll need to pay for one of their photo packages in order to get most of the photos you took inside the experience! The only photos they give you for free are the PIVOT couch ones, which let's be real...those are the best ones anyways, but still! But there are still plenty of photo ops where there is no professional camera/photographer ready to take your photos and just one of the employees waiting for you to hand them your phone to take photos, so it does balance out nicely! If you're a Friends fan, I just highly recommend you come here! It was so fun to be immersed in all the sets and I was giddy the whole time! Friends may be overrated given how overexposed it's been in recent years, but it was still so fun for me and so nostalgic as I remember watching this show as it aired LIVE growing up in my parent's home and then finding this show again when it came to Netflix over a decade after it finished airing! It's nostalgic and just so so delightful! I don't want to spoil it too much, but you basically get to see everything you probably have ever wanted to see! The opening theme song sequence set, Monica & Rachel's apartment, Joey & Chandler's apartment, the hallway between their two apartments, Central Perk, and so much more!!! Pay particular attention to all the signs they have as they fill you in on so much of the detail and background of Friends! At the end of the experience, you find yourself at the gift shop! It's cute and has some pretty unique items (like Monica's break up jam and a Central Perk coffee mug purse a la Loungefly) and this is where you can view your photos. Many of the quotes on the walls were directly from the show. They did have a video from the costume designer and blurbs from the show writers. Buckham hosts some of the more unique art shows in town. You know, the type of art with a little…read moremore "flavor" to it. To put it mildly, it's not your Grandma's quilting exhibition. The crowd at Buckham is filled with eccentric, free-spirited, creative types. I've seen the most unusual art shows here, but most have actually been very entertaining. Lots of upcycled "dumpster" art along with more mainstream photography and paintings. It's always surprising. The art is thought-provoking and gets people talking and that's what art is supposed to do- get people discussing it and looking at things in a different light. It's always fun to see everyone crowding around talking about the fusing of art, politics and commerce during art walk with a glass of wine in hand. Admission is free. Patrons may rent the space out for private events, too.

Buckham regularly hosts Second Friday Art Walk receptions, along with the other local galleries downtown, like GFAC. Sometimes they host spoken word or poetry readings or, on rare occasion, an interpretive dance recital. It's really a great space for showcasing local art talent and, as one of the city's non-profits, they manage to do a lot with a little- no small feat in this day and age, and particularly in this city. It's a testament to the changing times in Flint and our city's dedication to both promoting and preserving the arts downtown. Whenever I attend one of their Art Walk receptions, I always run into a number of Flint-town regulars that I know from around our colorful downtown landscape. They serve appetizers and beer and wine at their receptions, so donations are always welcome to help defray costs, but it is not something that is pushed. Great art, great scene, great people. Some of the art exhibitions here will often be a bit quirkier than those at GFAC, but it's the ingenuity and independent spirit that drives this gallery. We headed upstairs to grab a drink prior to exploring the arcade downstairs. We were immediately greeted and told about the layout, we decided to order the Shirley Temple of Doom (get it! ). It was the bougiest, best made Shirley temple EVER. Thanks Evelyn! They had a snack bar with candy, nachos, popcorn and pretzels along with multiple beverages. Along with the snack bar the upstairs features axe throwing and an absolutely dreamy game area with an assortment of games for every age level. There was plenty of space to hang out, it was super clean, well lit, but not uncomfortably bright (if that makes sense) and very very welcoming. The arcade area was more my son and husbands area- they had a blast playing skee ball, Pac-Man, pinball and racing. We could've stayed all day. Price wise everything was SO reasonable. I think that was one of the most impressive aspects. I could easily see myself grabbing a book, giving my kid $10 and parking myself by the skeeball machine sipping a mocktail and being left alone for at least an hour. This is PRICELESS. It's actually a really nice place on the inside and is primarily for the Flint ice hockey team, which yet again, I had no idea existed! You learn something new every day, right? After a long drive I found this place and wandered inside. Parking here's a little odd with a few different entrances and two separate lots. It reminds me of mall parking at Lakeside for some reason...don't ask. It was $5 to park which isn't that bad. Inside the main lobby is quite large with a big screen across the wall! there's three floors and my event was on the first floor. the main floor had the fly ball for dogs and I believe that's also where the actual ice rink is. I have no clue what's on the third floor. Probably offices. Anyway, it's a nice place in a part of town that could probably use the event space. They had a little snack area but I didn't get anything to eat our drink. Would return for other events in the future.
