It's a pretty easy all in one shop with everyday street clothes as well as accessories, lots of gear and expression wear. Very much open to all, but they absolutely celebrate queer, lgbtq+, sex and body positivity. Rough Trade Gear - Palm Springs, much like their Los Angeles location in Silver Lake, supports a lot of non-profits, organizations, events and individuals which is a big reason I love supporting them. Planned to mostly window shop, I pretty sure I spent around $200 on various, yet amazing things including some new tags, underwear, accessories and gear, a lot of which I hope to donate and use to give back throughout the year, but also have to #TreatYoself to some nice things as well. Greg, was on register and the main man in the store, recently his so kind and friendly as well as funny. He guided us to a lot of the sale items and their 50% off rack, where I went wild picking up a lot of great finds. While RTG - PS off Arenas Rd, next to Bearwear - Palm Springs, BlackBook bar restaurant, across from Hunters nightclub and several others, doesn't have a second level... They got great parking in front, in the rear or on the side. And utilize their space fully, in the best ways possible. Everyone who works her is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and versed in ongoings, their casual clothes, leather goods, neoprene, latex, vegan leather (mostly courtesy of TOF/Tom of Finland products), rubber, magazines, art, adult items, chains, pins, buttons, socks, partner brands and just about everything in the store. It has been a few years since I have been back to their store but I still order online. Was visiting town from PHX for the weekend. I really do enjoy seeing all the new styles they have to offer. I was with my partner and picked up a few of the metallic thongs on Saturday 6/13. Decided to come back on Sunday and see pick up the other colors in my size but they were out of my size . The friendly guy working checked the back room just to make sure and recommended I try online. I looked and a few of the printed patterns are not online or the metallic color I was hoping to get as well. I hope that those patterns will become available. read more

Honestly I really can't recommend this place because of the customer service. We went in and the man at the cash register was extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. It kind of felt like he had some bias against us but we couldn't figure out what his problem was. Maybe he just isn't a friendly person? I asked him what material something was made from and he very rudely said "I don't know what it's made from," as if my question was ridiculous. If I'm putting something on my body and using lubricant around it, I need to know it's compatible. People might also be allergic. The labels also don't say what the materials are, which seems lazy and irresponsible. All in all, it was clear from the interaction that talking to us was an imposition and not something he was happy to do. We walked out without purchasing anything and won't be going back. Do yourself a favor and order from Mr. S Leather in San Francisco. Their customer service is top notch and if you ever go in, they're super friendly and eager to help. read more

This is a split review as your experience will vary greatly from "fantastic" to "don't bother" based on who is working at the store when you go. 1st visit: 5+ Stars Stopped by at the beginning of my PS trip. I had purchased their gear online and was excited to find a retail location. Adrian who is one of the designers was working. He was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, so I picked up $250 in gear even though I was only there for about 20 minutes. 2nd visit: 0 Stars I stopped back by later in the week when I had more time to search through all of the great options. Immediately the energy was different when I walked in. The guys working at the counter never acknowledged my presence with as much as a hi or a head nod and never stopped their current conversation the 5 minutes I was in the store. Even when one walked into my line of sight while I looked around the store, he again did not acknowledge me. The shrieking cackle of their conversation made me feel super uncomfortable, and I ended up leaving. The product is fantastic, and the idea of a retail store should be great, but unless you call ahead to see if Adrian (or maybe Greg who is repeatedly referenced in the reviews) is working, I wouldn't bother going in the store. I am still in town for a few days but will probably just purchase online and will skip the store on future trips to PS unless I call ahead which is kinda sad. If you run into these idiots that I did, it will change your perception of this high quality brand for the negative like it did for me today. I can only imagine how much money they lose the company every week with such terrible customer service. It appears they were hired for their looks but not much else. I'm sure you know how frustrating it is when you go on a business trip and you realize you've forgotten to pack something? Well that's the situation I found myself in on my recent business trip to Palm Springs: Silly me, I forgot to pack underwear. Well since I only had a short time to fix the problem before my dinner engagement, I thought I'd hop over to one of those stores over on Palm Canyon Drive and get some. Newsflash: those stores aren't there any anymore. Fortunately before real panic set in I happened to remember this novelty store on Arenas and I thought, "maybe THEY'LL have some underwear". Oh boy did they ever! In fact, they had a shit ton of wonderful things that I'll never use in there but I actually found myself rather excited with the selection of underwear. Now the snag in all of this is the fact that, in reality, the underwear was a little over the top and a little bit more expensive (and um...decorative) than I had planned on, but then suddenly I saw it, the perfect answer, just hanging there waiting for me. A camouflage jock strap!!! (Cue: Angelic music). I haven't even thought about jock straps since Phys Ed in high school, but this situation was a perfect time to reunite with my old friend The Jock Strap. In fact, behind the counter they had tons of them, on sale...in boring colors like white and grey. (Cue: Hopeful strings) Also it must be said that the guy working behind the counter was hilarious and very helpful (I saw him save this guy from putting this very complex orange strappy looking thing completely upside down, and he did it with a smile...such a professional ) (Cue: Flashback clip of whatever it is you imagined the aforementioned scene to look like) Oh, and I did the whole thing in 24 minutes!! Extremely weird experience. First, yesterday the "we will be back" sign said they would be back at 3. There was a crowd of at least ten people waiting to get in. Came back at 3:30 and they still weren't open. They must have lost a lot of business just from that one instance. So I came back today and they were open, and the woman behind the counter not only did it acknowledge us, but she was watching a video and talking to herself. That would have been weird enough but then she blurts out "no wonder my vagina feels like gum!" Ummm wtf are you talking about and who are you talking to? Looked around for a bit but just felt so weird we were not inclined to buy anything. They really need to play some music in here too like the other stores because there is no vibe and it's WAY worse when your staff is being weird. I was actually headed to the liquor store that used to be where "Rough Trade" is located now. However, that was a few years ago. I went in and was immediately greeted by "Greg" who was helpful, friendly, and welcoming. The store is beautifully organized and displays were attractive and interesting. I wish I had more time to explore but was anxious to find a drug store. Greg was very kind to explain where the nearest Rite-Aid was located, which I appreciated a great deal. I accidentally ordered an all black item online when I thought it had white piping from the website. The thumbnail showed the white one but in error didn't check the cart when it defaulted to black. I brought it back in to exchange it. Not only did they let me exchange it they asked me if I was happy with the fit. I made a comment that it was a little large in some areas and they offered to custom make me one ! I can't believe how they've gone out of their way. Adrian and crew are really great here. I went into the store about a month ago and there was a woman clerk. She did not acknowledge me at all and sat there eating her lunch and watching a video on her cell phone.
