I've always wanted to try pottery and ended up signing up for a class with a few family members. Pottery is hard--but I enjoyed it! It will definitely take a few lessons to get the technique under my belt (I am sure this varies by person). Emily owns the studio and teaches the lesson. There was about 10 people in my "intro to wheel throwing" class. Everything is provided in the class and it was about three hours long. Emily teaches you the techniques and you get to make as many as you can within the course period. I was able to make 4 imperfect "bowls." I suggest that you not wear anything nice because it will be messy. I got clay/mud in my shoes, on my legs, and my clothes--fortunately, it comes out fairly easily, just a warning! However, I think it was worth it. I found the process to be very therapeutic...and humbling. I plan to take more classes and hope to get better! read more

I'm really disappointed with the way this clay class was handled. Communicated directly with the teacher, who confirmed that the class would be held on Sunday. Everyone showed up as planned, only to find the shop completely closed, no one there, and no notice that the class had been cancelled. There was no message, email, or update letting us know about the change, which was very unprofessional and a huge inconvenience for everyone who took the time to come. Poor communication and lack of consideration for participants. Definitely expected better organization and reliability. It happened twice for us and I definitely not recommend it to anyone! read more

My friend introduced me this place and we had a intro to wheel lesson back in April, due to my work schedule I was unable to comeback in time to glaze my piece. Usually it takes about 2 weeks for pottery to be fired, phew finally I was able to find a time to pick up my creation. And I love it! I enjoyed the group lesson because Emily was guiding me to create something that represent "me". She encouraged me, complimented me, although it was my first time dousing a wheel, the entire class was fun and relaxing. The studio is very spacious, great lighting and full of inspiration. Location is bit hard to find (due to surrounding construction) at first, but plenty of parking. I definitely highly recommend this place, not only supporting our local business, finding your inner artist, at the end of the day you gain lots of valuable experience and bring home your own masterpieces. read more

There is a promotion going on where you can get 3 hours of clay play for $55! You also get to keep the art right after! There is plenty of free parking and there is a waterfall by the studio. The studio is very clean and spacious with a lot of natural lighting. All the equipment and tools are new even the aprons my friend and I wore. We got to play with the wheel for hours along with making stamp designs. You can make anything you want from cups and bowls to plates. The instructor was very friendly and gave plenty of instruction when you want it. I definitely would recommend and do it again. read more

Took Emily's Valentine Day couple class and we had an amazing time! This place was recommended to me from a coworker and I'm so glad we did it. Going back in a week or so to glaze our finished pieces! The class had a quick demo in the beginning done by Emily and then we were on the wheel. She definitely helped save a few of our pieces. I strongly recommend Round Rock Community Clay. Our family of 6 spent part of a Staycation Day learning how to throw clay on a wheel and not have it fling across the room. It was fun and enriching. Yes, we did make some nice bowls on the wheel after a few tries. We also learned to use forms and ropes to make dishes. It was so engaging we lost track of time and forgot to take photos.
