Food at the arcade is horrible, staff is understaffed waited an hour to buy a drink never did , staff kept going back and forth between new customers on ice cream and food instead of simply ringing me and family up for drinks, the staff that was helping was still only on register and didn't stop once for any customers that wanted drinks after I got out the line. All they did was apologize and didn't take the time to multitask between everyone for a fair experience, first time I came I got drinks and the pineapple calipsco is good but not worth waiting for as I came a second time. Arcade is fun won lots of plushies, Bowling/Bar 0/10. Managers or whoever was there also doesn't seem to care about waiting customers, it wasn't even busy and they still weren't assisting us by the way. Could definitely improve service, also burned half the pizza. Also missed out of 90% of bowling from waiting. read more

Horrible place. The security here are extra biased against minorities and LGBTQ+ and harass you until you leave. They dislike people of color. The prize games are tight and it's hard to win anything. I been to other Round 1 locations and this one sucks the most. Rest assured that if you go into the bathroom, security will ask you for ID. If they don't believe what's on your ID, prepare to be searched for the right body parts. Parents beware-These are Pedos disguised as security and workers. While visiting Round One I received the the worst service I ever experienced in my life. It started with the pizza. It was undercooked and I was denied a refund. So then I ordered nachos after I asked did they have them only to be told that they didn't and a refund was issued. I was here my kids birthday. Let's start with Jake the kitchen manager who said the only thing they have in the menu is pizza, chicken tenders and fries. My kids wanted Icee. So I gave them money to go wait in line and purchase them. While waiting in line manager Miguel looks past them and takes the 6 white kids behind them. I don't like to do the race thing however when I went up there his response was I didn't know they had money. This is the most racist, unprofessional place I've ever been to. This place is a scam. We came for claw machines and walked in from the parking lot instead of the mall side. We came up on the card machines right away, so we bought them there - 2 cards with $55 on each card. Machine would not give a receipt. Walking in further, there was a sign about being able to buy a blanket and pillow with a card purchase or recharge of $55 for another $30. So I go to the desk and ask and am told I can't unless I bought the cards at the desk. Why? You can scan the cards and see that I bought them that day and the amount I put on. I'm not spending another $55 for the privilege of paying another $30. And the claw machines are minimum of 9 points per try up to over 15. That's like $2-3 a try, when you know you can't win any but the tiny ones on one try. Never again!!! I'd rather go into the mall and just buy the prizes. read more

The crane / claw machines did not disappoint! We ended up taking home a big astronaut themed Korilakkuma and another good sized cat in a pool floatie. The machine to get a reloadable card was really easy to use. The more you spend, the more bonus points you get! We played some arcade games there too. They have a good variety from skeeball to racing games to DDR. Some of the arcade games seemed old and malfunctioning. The cleanliness of the floor left something to be desired. Starters: noise level is okay at 8pm Bar closed: not enough workers, not old enough to work the bar, manager doesn't want to help some and not all Atmosphere: just ok, a teenager's heaven. Food: I wouldn't dare. The guy didnt wasn't to give me a cup for water after the bar was closed why should I trust the food. For this establishment to be at a mall knowing it may attract many people. They are very under prepared. I felt like I was being punked. As an adult there had to be more bowling options that my family could have explored but ultimately they chose here. What a disappointment. As I clenched my imaginary pearls and check out the atmosphere I can only imagine how disappointed other singles, grandparents, and parents may have felt. Security once told us we couldn't stand while waiting for the racing game to open up , lowkey it was giving racism because my group have seen kids ! (We are adults!) also standing where we were standing and didn't say anything to them. I normally don't care about things like this but another night when I went a group of male teen boys were in the women's bathrooms standing over looking over stalls. Security told us "we've seen you guys on the camera and you can't just be standing here" but didn't see the cameras when these little boys were in the women's bathroom? Nice people, giving stuff right. I saw some of the employees cleaning the machines to get the germs out of it. The rest are doing the cashier part of the place and prize stuff. The prices are nice. The food is good. The areas are cleaned out with the employees. Ambiance is great. But the claw machines are programmed to not give you prizes, I even tried to knock it down, but it didn't work, doesn't have well pressure. But still, fun. read more

Huuuuge issues with security. They were rude and aggressive throughout our whole stay. My disabled boyfriend was jostled upon entering the building with his service dog. The man at the door asked for his "papers" (which service dogs don't have??) and argued when he tried to educate the officer on disability law. We saw security around every corner. They stared hard, exerted their presence on you, and created an uncomfortable environment. I don't think I'll be going back and giving money to a place that doesn't make you feel welcome. read more

Extremely Rude Horrible Customer Service. The Employees have very nasty attitude and angry demeanor. This was our (Party of 10) first time here and we will never return again. We encountered a number of problems and Julio is the worst employee he talked to us in such a condescending manner. Then he said we came here before and didn't pay which was a complete lie. I'm not sure why this specific Round 1 couldn't bother updating their hours online given their circumstances of being understaffed. The people my friends and I were met with were also incredibly rude as they told us the news that they were closed for the night, as if the fault was in our hands that their store hours were not accurate to what is written. We arrived around 11:15 p.m., but the hours written online on both Google and Apple indicate much later hours. This and the Aurora Round 1 are the only ones in my area, but you're definitely better off making the further drive to Aurora since they appear better organized. read more

"Round 1" has become one of my new-found relaxation spots on my days off (or even right after work). I was surprised by the overall low yelp rating, but upon reading the reviews I realized that they were mostly individual incidents in regard of services or specific issues. I personally didn't encounter trouble whatsoever with the facility. I was mainly here for playing "Dance Dance Stardom," and perhaps other games in between. One of my co-workers introduced me to "Round 1," yet I didn't know that hubby has been in this place several times and he owned a club membership card. Fancy, wasn't it? I am now pretty hooked to arcade games because I get to move around. The location is quite convenient since it's one of the anchors at the North Riverside Mall. When the mall is open, one can freely access to and from it. If you are new to "Round 1," you will need to purchase the reloadable card and put some money on it. There's a charge on a newly-issued card (believe it's $3). I remember I put $30 on my card first the time and I got to play for next 5 hours or so. I admit that credit for each game was way less for a similar arcade game in Japan. Oh well, I am still glad that I can hop on the DDR machines without having to travel ardously, not to mention this particular location opens until 2am. Hubby also owns the other card that is able to save the stats on each game. Using the Dance Dance Stardom as an example, the more you play, the more points, which are used to unlock more songs, you can accumulate. It comes handy because the there is a limited number of songs for initial plays, especially the high level ones. I always enjoy my time spent in "Round 1" with hubby and friends. With that being said, I will most certainly expand my repertoire on other games and strive to be an expert at most of them (jk)! read more

No stars for this place.... very rude to their own people (manager) , would not serve alcohol to my partner after showing ID (a Mexican matricula) and staff was unable to do their job and misunderstood thier job resulting in getting us kicked out after we were already finishing our game..... saying there was law that wouldn't allow them to serve to people without a state ID...... mind you we were also there with our toddler trying to enjoy the night. My friend and I drove 2 hours just to come to round 1. 2 hours of our life, $40 gas and over $100 on game play. This guy in the photo comes here often as you can tell with the second set of shoes, towel and gym wear. Not only did he call us amateurs, but he got aggressive over a game. We were already almost out of credits and just using it up and he stated for us amateurs to move to the other machine (different version) next to us. And that he wanted this specific one. I then told him that we wanted this one too. He was rude and all in our face about it, and I tried to explain we drove 2 hours and we're almost done. We continued to play and after hovering over us (which made us feel uncomfortable, harassment if you ask me.) he stormed off to get a worker. A worker came up to us and I tried to explain the situation how we drove 2 hours and maybe had he not been all on us we could of switched off. It's disappointing that people come from all over the place for round 1 but locals/regulars feel entitled to these machines. This guy can come here any time. Me and my girlfriend stumbled into this place by accident while visiting the mall. I for one really like this place. There's definitely way more people here than the one in the Streeterville area. The games they have are really cool. They even have my favorite, the Speed Demon! It's a great concept place but I just fear about how wild and rumbuctuous these parents will let their children behave. The bathrooms are beyond terrible the one time that I went in there. If there was an adults night or 18+ day, I'd come here more. read more

This place has gone down a lot ... especially recently regardless of COVID. I'm not sure if it's just the day time workers, but all the ufo catchers and the the other ones with the chain never seem to be fixed. The boxes with the rings are always to far out of place or the ring itself is tilted too forward or too back. Most of the games my little one likes to play are not working( skeeball,pong balls) the games will glitch a lot. The early workers seem not to care. Cleaning etc is alright , from what I've seen. I'm not sure if it's the people that come And mess up the games or if they just aren't tending to the games/ machines. Coming at night it's too packed now too, with random kids running around and bumping into people, climbing on the games. I don't think we'll be back for a while. Used to love this place. read more

I hate that this is the only place even remotely near my Chicago address where I can play Beatmania IIDX. If not for the selection of Japanese rhythm games, I would never visit this place again. I've never had a pleasant experience with a single member of the staff--they're either absent when needed or seem imposed upon when I have the gall to try and purchase a bottle of water. Today I drove nearly an hour from the city to come play games only to find a sign in the window saying that they're closed and have reduced their hours, even though there is nothing on their website or Google indicating this. Besides the machines malfunctioning, another thing that makes me so mad is their systems, because it doesn't make any sense at all: -1: Why would you put the whole menu out, when you have something that is not in stock?. Don't you know how to let the customers know that you are out of something: like the sign said "out of _____", cross something out from the menu, or etc.?. -2: There is only one employee working on the counter, while the other employees are talking to each other, when there is a long line of customers waiting for help. Not only to the new employees, but to all the regular employees: techs, managers, securities, corps, & etc.. They either act stupid, act like don't care, or act like they don't pay enough to help the customers. -3: To redeem the ticket points from tokens & cards on the redeem machine; we have to let an employee knows first, then wait until they told the "manager" to swipe their card on it, then we could put the cards and tokens one by one, then push finish when we are done inserting, then wait until the countdown of the ticket points to zero, and finally we can swipe our own arcade card for getting all the points. -4: Speaking of #3, why is there are one redeem machine & one card balance checking machine, when there are 4 purchasing Round 1 card machines?. Shouldn't there are 2 or more in case some people waiting in line for it, or one is broken?. -5: Even though they have redeem machine, not all cards & tokens can put it in the redeem machine. Instead, the remaining cards and tokens have to bring it to the counter, and let the employees count it for you (they are slow poke when they are doing it btw). -6: They put the total ticket points of that particular prize, but doesn't even know what is the total points of it, instead they insist the customers to go check and tell them what is the total point of the prize. (Well, why the heck you help me scan the prize when you or the computer cannot tell the total points of it?, thats idiotic!) NOTE: If there are similar things happening here again, I'll not come back here to play. I will go to play on other arcades instead. Since some arcades have lots of nice games, lots of nice prizes, lots of good food, lots of nice employees, nice system, nice customer service, and everything is nice. OR, even they don't have many nice games and nice prizes, at least they have all the food & drinks for you, employees can help you ASAP when you need one, and their systems are not annoying or confusing whatsoever. We drove two hours to come to this Round 1. When we first started our first game on DDR. He came up to my girlfriend and I to tell us to move to the other machine. He clearly comes here often by calling us amateurs "kids." The staff has told him to wait his turn already but he made us feel uncomfortable by standing close to the arm bar and breathing down our necks. He clearly comes here often to play on an expert level when we would only come here once in a while. Smh. He could of been nice and patient about it. Do NOT go to Round 1 at North Riverside Mall. On July 6th we spent 4 hours (money) of bowling, arcade, and food for 8 kids to have one of the employees (Robert) accuse one of the boys with us (12 yrs old) of stealing a basketball that he redeemed with his points. The manager snatched the ball out of the boys' mother's hand saying we could get it back when we provide proof that we purchased it. After we provided proof Robert couldn't even look at us. When we asked for his name his manager said it was up to Robert to tell us. So before Robert could be all up in a 12 year old's face but now that he was wrong he had nothing to say. To go further when we asked the manager for his supervisor he said he was the manager on duty. But then HIS supervisor happened to walk around the corner and he denied ever saying he was the only manager on duty. Lies. He said we never asked to speak to his supervisor. Which we asked several times. We were planning on having my other grandson's party there but not now. This gaming family will NOT return. We will just stick to Dave and Busters, In The Game Hollywood Park, Ignite, FTW, and countless others we frequent. read more

Hard pass! Over priced and boring. The selection of arcade games is lacking. Mostly rigged redemption games. And you have the trouble makers that hang out at the food court now hang out here as well. For a mall that has a bad reputation, and trouble with uncontrolled and unsupervised teens, you'd think the last thing they'd want in the mall is an arcade. Don't see this place lasting long before it gets trashed and closed down. They can't keep anything nice at the mall. Would love to give a better rating. A lot of the staff are very friendly, better than I've experienced at other locations. The game selection is good and the variety of claw machine prizes is great. Unfortunately, it's becoming increasingly expensive to go here. Game prices keep rising and they now use a system similar to D&B where it charges you a decimal number instead of just a whole number so they can extort a few more cents per play. Also wish they had regular karaoke rooms instead of "party rooms." Employees frequently forget to give me my discount for my platinum member card which is frustrating as well. Side note: this doesn't bother me much but it frequently reeks of marijuana here so if that bothers you don't even consider going. read more

This place hasn't been open for very long so I'm impressed it's stayed pretty clean and decent since then considering this mall's reputation. The bowling lanes jam easily but every single time it has, the employees have done a nice job of fixing the issue in a timely manner. The pool tables are usually clean but many people get confused as to which table they're supposed to be in which makes it a little hard for everyone else. I had been told our group was in table #3, but when we got there, there was already another group. So we went back and told them and this black haired young lady was eager to help us out! As for the arcade games: the cranes have prizes that look super adorable! For $20, you can go a pretty long time without being bored. Dayana and Anthony were super nice and really helpful too! Also, the prize store that they have are filled really nice stuff! I was actually surprised when one of the employees told me that this place was orginally from Japan, but it made sense considering the japanese arcade games that were there. Where to start. Today was supposed to be a fun day but this totally ruined the vibe. We were planning on going bowling and they said over the phone 30-60 minute wait. Nope. We get there and play the arcade games to pass time. (most of them are broken) Than after waiting for an hour we go to get food, but nope if you want food you have to wait an hour. What?
