Rounders is definitely a hit-or-miss kind of bar. The drinks are way overpriced, but it is a college bar, so I guess that comes with the territory. I'd honestly recommend pre-gaming before you go, because the cover charge is usually around $25 just to get in. It is still fun, though. The place has three different rooms -- a club-style dance room with smoke and flashing lights, a bar area, and an upstairs dance floor with a DJ -- so you can kind of pick your vibe for the night. The bartenders are okay, but they can be a little rude sometimes, which is a downside. Also, the floors are slippery asf most nights, so watch your step. Overall, Rounders can be a good time if you go with the right group and know what you're getting into. Fun vibes, but definitely pricey. read more

The bouncers are absolutely terrible. Hello, last night was my second time ever coming to rounders, my experience was hands down the WORST Experience I've ever had in a bar/club/lounge never have I ever been treated with more disrespect by bouncers by simply telling them where I was from and asking to use a women's bathroom downstairs because the one upstairs was packed and slippery. It was so bad I'm going to post a yelp review later as well as my friend who I brought who flew in from Arizona to come experience the nightlife here in Tuscaloosa. I know I will never be coming back due to the lack of respect from the bouncers as well as the DJ. If I'm paying cover for my experience I expect at least a sliver of kindness but that was not met last night whatsoever. They serve alcohol to minors. This place is too crowded. They cannot be in fire code with that many people in there. I wish I could give zero stars. This place is an absolute joke. $10 cover to get in under the guise of free hamburgers and hotdogs. They were in a steam pan on a table near the back and had obviously been there for hours. My wife asked the bartender for two beers to go. She served us, and the bouncer very rudely told us we couldn't leave with them. When I questioned him, he responded by treating me like a kid, bullying, threatening, etc. The manager was exactly the same, and when we complained further to him, he told the bouncer to get us out. Horrible bouncer! Refused to let my whole group in and kept asking for our "real ids". I have been into this bar multiple times, and my REAL id was the only proof of identification I had on me. Every drink is what any normal bar would consider a double. Are they double the price? Nope! It's a college bar in a college town. This might be the only place in the upper half of Alabama that plays anything remotely close to Top 40/EDM. If this is the closest thing I have to a bar that plays Calvin Harris within 100 miles, I'll take it. The first floor is a disguise that makes non-locals strolling by think this place is deserted. The 2nd floor is a whole different scene and lots of fun. The dance area is on the porch and the setting is nice even as you hear Nicki Minaj blasting in the background. The drinks are strong and cheap. Even if you don't want to dance, people-watching is just as good. There's always a group that knows how to dance and a group that can't. Nobody cares. You'll be entertained either way and everyone is friendly. It's been Fall 2012 since I last visited Rounders. It had a bit of a stuffy entry bar/band room and a shoulder-to-shoulder back room that was really the main selling point for most. Fast-forward to now and you've got a different face being shown by this iconic hotspot. The entry bar/band room is spacious enough to fit a decent crowd, not to mention a larger band than could previously fit in the smaller corner stage. The back room is still the "club" room, but has stair access to the newer 2nd floor...and that's where I had most of my fun this time. Never before in Tuscaloosa have I heard house music in a public setting, so it was great to hear a DJ (with some guests) spinning their own mixes on tracks I've heard on SoundCloud. I hope Rounders keeps up the 3-room concept...that's really the best way to capture the widest audience! read more

Used to like going to rounders because they have 3 floors with different options for music. Last time I went, I ordered a drink I had previously gotten and it was $5. When I went back to order another one, it was a different bartender and she told me the drink was $6. When I asked why the price was different she asked the other bar tender how much it was and he said $5. Then she said "well aren't you going to tip" and I said not after that. I used to go to rounders when my friends and I first turned 21. It was definitely fun at the time whenever I didn't understand the cost of drinks, but as we began going to other bars we realize rounders was overcharging and not mixing the drinks correctly. The drinks were way too strong and getting us drunk way too quick. They allow far too many people in at a time and are not very good at keeping up with the underage crowd. There were several times where I almost got kidnapped by strangers. I don't fully recommend rounders to any women who go in alone without any male friends, because I have never felt more threatened in a bar than at rounders. The music is fun , however. but I would not go back. read more

Writing a new review since I'm sober now. Oh wait still 1 star. If there was a 0 star option I'd click it. First off all, why is the cover $40? Excuse me? I'm not made of that kind of money. It happened so fast but anyways. I had to go to the back of the line. He wouldn't let me go up with my friends. I have never been so fucking angry in my life. Anyone that made eye contact with me got the fucking death stair. I was ranting to bitches I've never seen. ALSO guys were cutting me because they said they were on the football team. Okay and? 2 floors including an outside/rooftop area. One of the only places you can get in under 21 (19+ still can't drink) and usually has quite a few people there. Bartenders are nice and service is pretty fast. Cover ranges from $5 for 21+ on normal Friday/Saturdays and $10 for under 21, to anywhere from $20-25 for everyone on especially big game days. Covers are usually less the earlier you go. No cover during the week generally. read more
