Recommended by my buddy for the yummy sausage and biscuits omelette. Ordered the omelette and it arrived minus the biscuits. Brought it to the waitresses attention but she said the biscuits were an option, so either toast, pancakes or biscuits. And if we wanted biscuits it would be $2.19 extra per meal. Checked the menu and it clearly states the biscuits are part of the omelette. Didn't fight her on it. Will not be going back. read more

One can't go wrong with Round's. The staff is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is simple, traditional, and authentic. The prices are reasonable. And the fare is delicious. I strongly recommend the hash. Round's is a local institution, mostly overlooked by the tourist crowd. The clientele spans all walks of life, from landscapers to judges, doctors to retirees. The counter usually has half a dozen random folks eating and chatting while the rest of the restaurant orbits at an increasingly frantic pace as the day proceeds. You have to try the Eggs Benedict! They are the best I have ever had. The hollandaise sauce is perfect. I had the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict, which I think are on special. The Crab cake was so good! It was more crab then filling/stuffing. We also tried the Country Fried Steak and the Stan's Big Breakfast and everyone really liked those as well! We will be back! read more

This place has a cute diner feel to it, but the food is pretty bad. I got a veggie omelette and my partner got the Stan's breakfast. The latter wasn't too bad but the eggs were bland no matter what you decided to order. My veggie omelette had just plain, steamed vegetables in it, and the eggs tasted like nothing. No flavor whatsoever. I ordered wheat pancakes but the waitress brought me wheat toast; when I asked again for the pancakes she brought me the wrong kind.. The service is good though, nice people. I'm always looking for good places to eat breakfast, and this one didn't disappoint. The counter was full when we arrived so we found ourselves a table in the back. The servers were friendly and the food was good. We had eggs and pancakes, our normal breakfast fare, and they were well prepared and fast. Rounds was recommended to us by a bartender at a local, fine dining establishment. He said it's his "go to" place for breakfast and walking distance from his house. He was absolutely correct in describing Rounds as having huge portions of beautifully cooked basics like pancakes, omelettes and the best corned beef hash! Wow. I have been going to rounds since I was a child and it has always been great food and plenty of it. Sad to say it's been going down for some time and after yesterday I doubt I'll be back. First you can't sub anything anymore, which sucks. Second when they make the American fries half are raw and there is absolutely no flavor. There's no salt or seasoning added and they must fry the in vegetable oil instead of butter or margarine. They are awful! Second when I asked for my eggs over medium I received eggs where the yolk had already covered the bottom of the plate, not cool for dipping, and the whites weren't done. But how over medium eggs are supposed to be. My husband had to find a different waitress every time he needed a refill as ours was mia most of the time. And the food, not plentiful. So disappointed as my parents took me there and I continued taking my kids there. I'd like to say it was so busy i could understand but it wasn't. read more

I have found my fav breakfast place here. Had no wait at all, place was jamming. Yes, it's small & yes, you may run into waiting but boy o boy I would wait for an hour to have those eggs Benedict again. The best breakfast food ever. I think the Rounds name comes from the shape of the front of the building. We had breakfast there on a Saturday morning around 10:30am. It was packed full so we assumed the food would be excellent. DH had a BLT that he said was pretty good but I was pretty disappointed in my veggie omelet. read more

We come to Traverse City often and just stumbled across this awesome mom and pop shop. It appears we found the local legend that the locals keep to their selves. It had great homemade food, authentic corn beef and hash and their homemade bread was hearty! I'd recommend this to any non pretentious, food loving, healthy atmosphere seeking person. read more

in no way is this classic diner food. i've eaten at numerous NJ diners while living there 15 years and there no semblance to this place. this is a dingy, shabby, cluttered dump. the food is not exciting and flavorful like good diner food. The best I can say about it is their home made bread made good toast. American fries are just boiled potatoes cubed that are not properly browned/fried but served just that-boiled. Eggs just common. Definitely did not like the jams served in family style open vessels for any and all to do who knows what. I would not return nor recommend this place. read more

Very negative atmosphere. The servers were are all complaining about different things right in front of customers. One server took a plate from a man's table that he wasnt done with, so she took it out of the dirty plates bin and gave it back to him. A cook from the kitchen came out to get a cup of coffee, and noticed a rag was on the floor. He picked it up and put it back in the sanitation bucket. Once my food finally came out, it was dry and soggy. My toast was cold and my gravy was so dry and thick, not to mention cold. I sent it back thinking I would get fresh gravy, but she admitted to microwaving it after I complained about it being cold again. I didnt finish my meal and requested it be removed from our tab. I'm not sure what has happened to the staff there, but it used to be a very positive place to enjoy food. read more

This place is great. Service was fast and friendly and the corned beef hash was awesome...homemade with big chunks of corned beef. And it came with really great homemade wheat toast. I love that fact that if you order coffee, they leave a thermos full right on your table. read more

So. We get here and the hostess points out a table, tells us to seat ourselves, so we sit and wait a few minutes. Waitress comes over, brings us waters and takes our drink orders. After bringing us back our coffee/juice, she just leaves. We have no menus and after 15 minutes we flag her down and she brings us menus. We've watched several other tables sit and get menus immediately. So we finally order. My food comes out while my two other companions haven't gotten theirs. Fast forward, I'm essentially two bites from being done with my food and waitress reappears to tell us my boyfriends biscuits and gravy are delayed because they needed to make fresh gravy - TOTALLY FINE. They were a little busy, it's 11:30 on a Sunday. However, she completely forgot my friends order, after we watched her write it down. So she goes 'Oh, you never got your food either....' walks away, then immediately comes back and asks her again what she ordered. Then when she brings it out, it's wrong anyways. My wife and I tried this kind of out of the way place for breakfast. It has a very down home feel, and we felt very welcome. The servers were all very nice and quick. It took a few minutes to get menus, but our food was out in just a few minutes after we ordered. I got blueberry pancakes which were delicious and so big that I couldn't finish them. My wife got a full order of biscuits and gravy. It was more than she could eat as well. The only down side was that there were some tough pieces in the gravy, otherwise it was all very good. We're new to Traverse City and were excited to try Rounds this a.m. We are lovers of corned beef hash and the picture of it looked so good! After a long wait, we noted people who came in 20 minhutes after us were served while we continued to wait. When we asked our waitress, she said she'd check but had no explanation. We waited 55 minutes before our food came. We needed magnifying glasses to find the corned beef. We got a plate full of potatoes and onions and a few specks of corned beef. It was nothing like the picture. We may give it another try eventually, but if it's anything like today, that will be our last visit. read more

Locals eat here, food is good, but they must have been having a bad day when we were there. Breakfast for two on a Saturday morning took 50 minutes to arrive. It wasn't super crowded, but a large group went in just before us, so a bit of a wait is to be expected--but not 50 minutes for a simple breakfast. read more
