It definitely on a tight side when sit down and eat, almost need another table. We were so full after breakfast, their famous hot chocolate with crackers & marshmallows was creamy & live up to the hype. I ordered strawberries short cakes pancakes- not so sweet & it, my toddler is a picky eater but he ate too. Couldn't finish but bring back to hotel & finish after that. I'm familiar with the Omelette Shoppe so I was happy that they had availability for breakfast while Nate and I were in town recently. We were able to grab a seat right away and our server was attentive and polite. The space is a bit small and cozy, but seemed clean enough. I ordered the Special Plate: eggs, bacon, fruit and choice of toast or pancake. Nate got the Leelanau scramble: spinach, wild mushrooms, scallions, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, and goat cheese. Our food came out pretty quickly, which was nice, as we were on a bit of a time crunch. I really liked the special plate - the eggs were perfectly cooked over medium, and the bacon was crispy. The fruit was just okay but it was a nice addition. Nate like his scramble and toast. Overall the prices were a bit higher than I was expecting but nothing outrageous. If you are looking for a cheap, cute, and yummy breakfast in Traverse City, you must stop by The Omelette Shoppe! My friends and I stopped by on our trip and loved it! A few things you should know before you go: 1. VERY SMALL! We had a party of 5 and did not fit in the booths. I recommend only sitting 4 in a booth and if you have more in your party, split up. You will not be comfortable. 2. Usually a wait on the weekends (summer especially) so when you get there put your name in and walk around downtown while you wait, they will text you when your table is ready. 3. No iced coffee 4. Get a few things to share with the table. We tried a few different dishes like the cheesecake pancakes The staff was so friendly and accommodating to those with larger parties and strollers. They have solid ingredients (good quality bread, eggs from local hens, really good sausage links per my husband, etc.) and even upgraded condiments (each table has freshly ground salt, freshly ground pepper, spicy ketchup, regular ketchup, and hot sauce) but there was way too much butter on everything. We each got the basic plate but felt the scrambled eggs, hash browns, and toast were all drowning in butter and couldn't finish. Also did not love the coffee, which tasted like old poor quality coffee. Inside was busy but spacious and service was relatively fast, but server was unapologetic when we pointed out she charged us for two coffees when we only ordered one. I wanted to give this place 5 stars but the only reason I won't is because the service was a little uncouth and rough. The servers seemed to run this place a bit like a toll booth, if that's an accurate analogy. It's kind of an average looking hole in the wall, but the food was excellent. We were seated fairly quickly and the silver ware (wrapped in a napkin at least to dull the fall) was literally dropped on the table and she was off. Then we had another server, who was very pleasant and easy going. She took our orders and everything was served quickly. My vegetable skillet was delicious, with nicely done eggs, a good amount of veggies and potatoes, served piping hot. Everything was good here, and some, but not all of the servers were just a bit rough around the edges. But that won't stop me from going back if I'm in TC again. read more

Came on a Saturday for brunch with my family. This is a VERY tiny restaurant and I would highly encourage you to put your name on the list about an hour beforehand. There's also not much room to wait inside, so be prepared to walk around a bit! The Reuben I ordered was fantastic! I loved the taste and how crispy the rye bread was--delicious! My only critique is that the red skin potatoes were pretty mushy; I wish they were a bit crispier. The service was also fantastic here. The cheese on the sandwich was cool and not melted, the avocado was dark brown and the tomato was right on the sandwich which made the sandwich bread very soggy. I called ahead to check to see what the wait was for brunch this morning. It was just after 11 AM. Sophie answered the phone. She let us know that the current weight right now is 45 minutes to 15 minutes for a table for two people. That's all fine, since we aren't quite hungry, yet. I hope we don't have to wait outside is all. It was about a 40 minute wait for a table. Half capacity and it's not a big place. All booths all over the place and one booth closed between. We built our own omelets. Mine had wild mushrooms, spinach, green chilies, broccoli, avocado, onions, jalapeños, asparagus and Turkey sausage and my husband's had wild mushrooms, green peppers, green chilies, spinach, avocado, black bean, jalapeño and onions. We both got fruit on the side instead of toast or pancakes. My omelet had some residual burnt hash browns from someone else's dish and my husband's omelet had corn he didn't order in his omelet. I am not sure I got $2 worth of Turkey sausage in my skillet, more like $0.50 worth or $1 at most. Service was super warm and friendly. Some hard brown unidentifiable object in my omelet. I thought it was the stem from the avocado, but it has the coloring of the shiitake mushrooms. The omelets starts at $9.50 and comes with one item. They also charged each of us an additional $0.99 for each side of fruit upgrade instead of toast or pancake. Would have been nice to be told so when we had ordered. I go there when in the area and have loved it. Things seem to be lacking this time. The service was great but the food just didn't get it this time for the four of us. I started off with a French press of locally sourced coffee, and he got a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice with the pecan cinnamon roll french toast- which was insane desirous! I got the Eggs Benedict, which was a perfect choice on this chilly Traverse City morning. We shared half order of biscuits and fresh sausage gravy. Everyone was on point! They allow substitutions which was a pleasant surprise, I was able to get a salad instead of hashbrowns for my eggs Benny. And the salad had Traverse City cherries on it!! Nice smoky bacon. The eggs Benedict was cooked to perfection, the eggs are poach perfectly, the Canadian bacon is so tender and flavorful, not too salty.
