Saturday morning breakfast at the Omelette Shoppe while visiting TC...delicious! We tried a few different things , shared, and compared, but there was 1 unexpected champion of breakfast. The Sausage Gravy omelet, with the house-made sausage gravy, rye toast, and the homemade strawberry jam was terrific. The omelet was not only super tasty, but it was enormous! It was extremely filling and the strawberry jam was excellent! The Chimichurri omelet with gluten free toast was equally flavorful with loads of prime rib and chimichurri sauce both inside and on top. It was so big, it could have been 2 breakfasts. The Chimichurri sauce was spot-on, the prime rib was tender and well-seasoned, but had just a bit too much fat on some of the pieces. The GF toast was far better than most places (it was actually the size of a normal piece of toast, not like the dinky gf substitutes you normally get) and accentuated with that same strawberry jam, took it up a notch! The Avocado Toast (also on GF toast) was good, but the avocado mash had just a tad bit too much lemon in the mix that made it a little cheek puckering; however, the tomatoes were fresh, the goat cheese was generously portioned and tasty, and the egg on topped was cooked to perfection. I'd certainly give this one a 2nd chance. The star of the show? The fresh squeezed OJ! Perhaps the best OJ any of us have ever had...seriously. Everyone in our family agreed, and we all went ham on our glasses of juice (LOL). The outside of the building doesn't lead you to expect the amazing level of food that is coming out of the kitchen. Don't get me wrong - the inside is bright, quaint, cozy, and super clean, but the food speaks volumes at a much higher decibel. Our server, Annika, was utterly outstanding! She was funny, personable, engaging, and informative. She made great suggestions, had great stories, and knew how to sell (she sold us on the OJ by sharing how it was made, how much she liked it, and how it was worth all the work they do to make it because of how good it is). Thank you, Annika, for keeping us laughing and making a normal breakfast an unforgettable family outing! We're already making plans for our next visit when we're in TC again. read more

Wow! Sooo delicious! First of all, we chose this place because it had better/easier parking. The one downtown has construction right outside of it. They have such a big selection on their menu! We went with a cinnamon roll (so fluffy and good and not too sweet), Eggs Benedict, and a Chimichurri Omlette. The Omlette was soo flavorful and good but the dairy (the cheese) affected my stomach after. The pancake was made well but the portions are so huge, I couldn't finish it! This is your basic diner. Decent food. Super helpful staff. Nothing to blow you out of the water but food tasted good. Their cinnamon rolls are really good and plenty of icing which is helpful. Our server was patient and helpful and even engaged us around why we were in town and so on. Restaurant is dated but functional. They do the business because I came back the next day to a shop a couple of doors down and people were waiting outside to get seated. We loved this place so much we went twice!! What a great experience. The staff is young, hard working and very polished. The food choices are varied and everything we had was delicious. I also had the some of the cherry themed food (for cherry fest) and the cherry food was delicious too. The waitress we had was super friendly and accommodating. She was extremely kind, and had such amazing attention to detail, even with several in our group having dietary restrictions and 5 small children. As we are a restaurant and hospitality family we are always observing and watching what goes on in other businesses. Everything was spot on!! Our server Emma was our favorite server, anywhere, ever!! Get on the waitlist ASAP, this place fills up fast. Not an overly large place but plenty of seating. Service was good, never ran out of drinks. Food was top notch too. German omlette was done well, fluffy and great fillings. The pumpkin pancakes had a pumpkin cream on top. Still four stars, excellent service on Easter. All staff in bunny ears and spreading joy. Cinnamon roll dad and I shared was so tasty. Dad's disappeared so reckon he liked it. I ordered avo toast, stick to the eggs Benedict or the scrambles (omelette are winners too, I just prefer the scramble- omelettes can be runny and I can't deal). I love scrambles and omelettes, but it's a ton of food, definitely get your money's worth-toast, potatos etc. I am just not always that hungry first thing.I know avos are expensive and they go bad in the blink of and eye, but I can absolutely tell when the shelf stable avo is used. Real avocado or nothing. The fried egg atop was delicious. The avocado toast was supposed to have goat cheese, I asked for no goat cheese. Maybe I should have had it with the goat cheese. Visited this restaurant back in January. I read multiple reviews about the place and decided to check it out. It reminds me of a old diner inside. We didn't have reservations and the wait was a bit long. The restaurant was packed to the brim which I always think is a good sign that the food is good. The food was good. The goat cheese omelette was amazing and the blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes were even better. Some places didn't even answer the phone or have an online capability to get in line. The food was decent. I got the chipotle beef barbacoa. I wanted as a big a breakfast as possible before spending the day on a boat. Portion size was excellent. The omelette itself was just ok though. The chipotle hollandaise sauce it came drowned in wasn't as good as a regular hollandaise. And the avocados inside were not ripe, that kinda made this a less than stellar experience. It has often been my experience that local venues are the best venues, and the Omelette Shoppe did not disappoint. There are three locations in the Traverse City area. We visited the Front Street locale, which is at the end of a strip mall just south of the bay. Parking was tight, but we found a spot in the side lot. There was a short wait for a table, which I did not mind. I noticed that many locals were there - always a good sign. Everything was handicap accessible, and kids are welcome; dogs were not (except service dogs, of course). The ambience of the place is light, white, and sunny, with red accent decor. Once seated, our waitress was on top of things. She kept my coffee hot and made sure we had everything we needed. My daughter ordered a s'mores hot chocolate that came with actual fire roasted marshmallows and whipped cream, it was fantastic. I had my usual black coffee, and it was fine. The menu is comparable to a Bob Evan's or Dennys, but with some local embellishments, and it is my opinion that the food was a step up. I think the attribute is primarily to freshness, which is achieved by using local ingredients whenever possible. I ordered a farmer's skillet and pancakes. Everything was fine. The sausage in the skillet was more of a chopped link (as opposed to ground sausage), which is not my preference, but it didn't hurt the taste of my meal. My wife ordered an omelette and the kids had a variety of sweet pastries (pancakes, shortcakes, and French toast). Everything was good. For breakfast in the Grand Traverse area, I'm not sure you'll find a better restaurant. The Omelette Shoppe is better than their chain store competitors, and it's local, which is always a boon for everyone. I highly recommend that you give them a try. read more

Before our hike - we decided to have a big breakfast instead of something quick. Let me say - I dropped my rating down because place inside looks old; doesn't have nice warm vibe. It seems like that had water damage on the ceiling and never replaced but if you don't look up, then you'll be fine. Now lets get to the food - just about everything is $9 and up, so you should get something fancy. Lol! #YOLO I decided to go with blueberry/lemon pancakes - you really didn't need any syrup and it wasn't overly sweet neither. I did add a side of bacon but of everything taste better with BACON - drinks are $4.50 (at least the OJ) and i don't believe it's free refills because she never offered and i didn't ask. we were in town for my sons soccer tournament. I joined the line online. It first said 35-40 minutes wait. No problem. Then I got a ln alert that it would be 40 minutes. ok. We packed up at our hotel, and were loading the car. I got an alert that our table was ready and we had 5 minutes to get there. This was after 20 minute. I called and told the restaurant that were 10 minutes out, and that the time I was told from joining had only been 20 minutes. The gentleman told it was fine they would hold it. We got to the restaurant in 10 minutes and hostess said they gave our table away. I was shocked and said that I spoke to someone and they would hold it. Her response was 'yeah, the manager over-rode it' she was so rude. When I asked to talk to the manager she said no. What terrible customer service. read more

The service was dialed in, although there is usually a wait...We waited 15 minutes, which wasn't bad considering the popularity and lack of other breakfast places in the area. When we were seated, our server was right there with coffee, and within a few minutes was taking our order. Our food was delivered about 3/4 of a cup of coffee into our breakfast experience. (less than 20 minutes which is pretty good for how busy it was) I ordered The Farmer (omelet) and my wife ordered the Country Skillet. This was a lot of food! The one turn off is they roll the hash browns into the omelet. Speaking of, it looks like the eggs are cooked flat and then the ingredients are rolled in like a taco. A lot of restaurants do this, I just like it incorporated into the egg mixture. My wife liked her Skillet except for the large chunks of red pepper. Again, hard to rate, service was good, food was OK, I wish there was an option for a 1/2 star, would get 3.5 stars....maybe read more

Simple strip mall eatery that will tickle your taste buds! The lemon blueberry pancakes are amazing. Perfect lemon flavor, blueberries not overpowering and the ricotta is so smooth and creamy! My sisters loved the cinnamon toast French toast, they said it tasted just like a cinnamon roll and I agree! They were so full of yummy flavor. The atmosphere was pleasant local diner vibe.
