My kids took swimming lessons here. Their instructors were Cheryl and Dom. They were both knowledgeable and patient with the kids. My kids learned a lot in eight lessons. They have taken swimming lessons in the past (not here) however, I didn't feel comfortable in their abilities. With that being said, I recommend this place for lessons. This is a family owned business and they offer summer camp, swim team, as well as lessons. They also use their facilities for birthday parties. They have outdoor pools that are open to the public for a fee and they use their indoor pool for lessons. read more

For the money it's not too bad. The problem I have is the swim instructor didn't know how to teach. I think she's just too young to be teaching swim lessons. She also seemed to be overwhelmed by more than two kids at a time. I thought my daughter more in a shorter period of time at the lake. FYI, my daughter doesn't even listen to me. Impressive facility. Overview: Ms. Rountree owns a lot of ground in the-middle-of-nowhere-Hiram-Georgia, and she's built numerous facilities around her home: outdoor pool, indoor pool, indoor fields, etc. It's actually pretty cool. You drive down windy roads past trailer parks and suddenly there it is. Signage is good, but it comes up fast. Parking is a gravel lot, and there's plenty of it. Chickens and a sweet dog Abby wander the property. The facilities are great. Sure, they're not necessarily Division 1 University stuff, but they're very impressive, especially for the price. It very much has a common-sense, down-home feel. For example, in the indoor pool, Ms. Rountree has lots of big houseplants lining the windows, and there's a cool rope swing for the kids and more pool toys (noodles, rings, torpedoes, balls) than you can count. Also diving blocks and a diving board. Shallow end is 4 feet, deep end is eight feet. There's a small playground outside the pool area (some swings, short monkey bars, etc. Even a neat little outdoor pond with a wooden T-rex skeleton. The indoor pool also has a party room. It looks rather eclectic; it's got picnic tables and workout equipment, but it's all neat and quite welcoming. We loved having our party here. Lots of space, clear rules (e.g., don't bring food into the pool area, no running), and, again, that down-home feel: for instance, Ms. Rountree has a separate bucket for scrap food to feed her chickens and goats. We really liked it. For being out in the boonies, they are great facilities. Great for parties. Friendly, down-home staff. Don't expect the ritz, but you're not paying for the ritz, either; expect a welcoming, down-home, no-nonsense facility. Loved it. Would recommend and will probably use again. I swim here in the outdoor pool when it's open (usually May-Sept). It's a fantastic facility. Family owned and operated. Very clean. I come to exercise by lap swimming, and the staff always make sure kids, etc are aware of lap swimmers so we can have space. It is an outdoor pool, surrounded by forest. There will be bugs and leaves sometimes. They do an amazing job keeping it as clean as it is, but it's just what being outside in a rural area looks like. There's nowhere around here with facilities like this, I'm very thankful to have an excellent pool nearby. If you behave yourself you'll have a wonderful time! Unfortunately people that don't like to follow rules are more likely to leave bad reviews. read more

My daughter has been with Cheryl on and off for about 4 or 5 years now. She's a level 3 swimmer now. She would be further along had I kept her in swim without the breaks we took. I love Cheryls teaching style. She's patient with the kids but she's also not gonna put up with nonsense or bad behavior. Trust me, she's the swim coach you've been looking for. She now has 2 outdoor pools with a concession stand for snacks, drinks, floats and more. Pictured below is the kids pool that's 4ft max and to the left of that is the big pool that's 8ft max I think . She has tons of lounge chairs and it's really nice out here. She also has a big indoor heated pool for swim lessons. I highly recommend her and her facility. The best customer service you could ask for. read more

This was recommended to me by a friend who takes her kids for swim lessons. While it may not look like much from the outside, Cheryl has a great facility here. She has two indoors arena areas she rents out for nerf gun parties (which was what we chose to do for my sons birthday party), two outdoor pools, one indoor pool that is heated and used for swim lessons and a huge land area in the back with horses. I was underwhelmed when arriving initially but the party was a blast, her crew was super helpful and accommodating. Prices were great and Cheryl even recommended a bounce house for the younger kids. After seeing the beautiful photos on their website, I took my grandson over to enjoy the day. When arriving we weren't sure if they were open, due to no cars in the gravel lot. I saw an open gate, so we walked down to it. The pool was empty and there was someone in the gift shop? I ask if they were open and I was told they were and that the indoor pool wasn't open to the public. I had ask in case of the possibility of rain. I all where all the people were and was told that they were afraid of the rain. We paid and started to get in the pool, the attendant walked up towards the parking lot, we were there alone. There were bugs floating all over the water and algae growing in the steps . We decided to leave. When we got up to the parking lot the person who had took my money came out of nowhere, I told him that we were leaving. Never once was a mention of a refund, they started walking off away from the pool?? My daughter had planned on my grandsons birthday next month and I told her to make other plans, this place was terrible. There is so much potential there, but we will not be going back. I would highly recommend that you DO NOT use this facility for any purpose. They are operating beyond the limits that were set for them several years ago by the county in relation to the time frames in which they can offer services, and have been doing so for a long time. I would also recommend to always check the Ga child predator listing in the area before using a facility such as this one that is located in a non business district. I enjoy the field and the soccer except I had called because I had left my necklace, I called and the lady answered and told me that she wasn't going to waste her time searching even though I told her the exact location I left it. She said whenever I come back I can look for it. Wished for better customer service, I appreciate the guy though. read more

I really recommend taking your kids for swim lessons here. My kids have progressed quickly and I look forward to starting a new round of lessons for them soon. I also plan on having my kids birthday party there in a few months. Mrs. Cheryl is a very nice lady once you get to know her. She is very welcoming and easy to get a long with. She pushes the kids to do better and not give up. She understands the importance of safe swimming and she makes sure the kids understand it as well. My kids enjoy going as well. read more

My son loves taking swim lessons here. Cheryl is awesome with the kids!! My son is 4 years old and started out very reluctant to get in the water and wasn't comfortable with the idea of swimming, after a couple of times he has warmed up well and always looks forward to going to swim lessons. This is his second session and we plan on doing more! I can see more progress in every lesson he takes. The instructors are unable to handle a large class if there is one or more kids that are too energetic. Our child was removed from the classes because the instructors were unable to manage more the 4 kids learning to swim. The classes were unstructured and my son learned nothing new from what I taught from the previous summer. read more

I called and called this facility to ask about swimming lessons for about two weeks and never once got a call or email back. Thinking this was a public business I decided to take a drive over to Rountree Recreation, which is about 20 minutes away from my house. After a long, winding drive through crazy Hiram back roads, roads that I would dare not want to travel in the winter months when there might be some ice around, I pull up to a place that looks like a horror movie would be filmed there. It's a little gravel road that leads up to some rickety, old buildings with no signs to guide me in any way. There seemed to be a parking lot zone, also a gravel lot, but there were no other cars there, and this looked like someone's personal (and abandoned) property, so I stayed in the car, triple checked the address and map on both my GPS and phone's GPS, and, sure enough, this was the place. With no business at 5pm on a weekday, I had a bad feeling about the quality of everything and decided to leave. After hearing more about Ms. Rountree's behavior from other parents of swimmers, to which she is supposedly about as warm and inviting as her property looks, I am glad that I didn't go inside or press the matter further for lessons. read more
