On our way from New Orleans we found the Hammond Food Mart. What an amazing store for Po'boys! Just a short hop off 51 and I-12. Best sandwiches we had over our two weeks in LA! We also bought 5 different flavors of Boudin which were incredible! Prices were VERY affordable and they had a HUGE selection of beverages and also sold liquor. Service was efficient and there are a few booths where you can sit. We will be back! read more

I ordered 2 shrimp poboys, a kids meal, with a side of thin onion rings to go. The onion rings were wide and soggy. The shrimp was tough and salty. We decided to never go back, it's just not the same as it used to be. disappointing. read more

If you're hungry and in Hammond Louisiana, this is a MUST! This is a favorite for locals and our family. Located about half a mile away from all the main eateries and the mall, this unobtrusive deli/gas station off S Range Road (Minnesota Park intersection) is amazing! The prices are reasonable and the portions are huge! Their po'boys and muffulettas are HUGE and delicious!! No corners cut here!! They also have deli meat and cheeses by the pound, salads, sandwiches, hamburgers and dinner baskets. They offer catering. Prepackaged dessert items are for sale at the counter. Hands Down, not even close, Absolutely the best Muffalatta I've ever eaten, and I've been eating them for 35 years. A little off the traditional and it's a great improvement. Great reheated in the oven. A real value, tremendous amount of food for 20 bucks. Can't wait to get the next one! read more

Very dissatisfied. First and last time ordering from here. I ordered a hamburger poboy, fries, and a drink through the Waitr app. The poboy bread was terribly hard, the burger patties were the frozen kind like you get in the lunchroom cafeteria, the fries were bland (and of course cold), and I did not even receive the drink. I had never eaten from Ryan's before today... we ordered a large muffuletta for lunch, split it between two people, and still had some to take home! - I didn't look much at the rest of the menu, stopping once I found what I had wanted to eat. I have gotten the roast beef poboy here in the past and loved it. Tonight, I got a fried catfish poboy and feel like I overpaid. I paid $10.99 for 2 slices of bread and one catfish filet. There was more bread than the meat. Not sure what's going on or if they're always like this but I was disappointed. The roast beef poboy is on point though! read more

Ok this was the perfect end to my weekend on the bayou. Just wow! Ok so I go down to New Orleans for the first time ever to stay wiht my lady friend and her newly found biological father, affectionately referred to as her "bayou-daddy." Well after spending three days drunk and getting up at 10 am only to be napping again by 1:00 pm, we ended our weekend with a stop at the first place we saw that had food. Anyhoo Ryan's, if you stumbled on this and are looking for that authentic hole in the wall poor boy sammich, THIS IS IT! Honestly I spent like $6 and I have enough food for two people. Years ago I would get the muffuletta. It wasn't traditional but was very good. Then a while back I heard Ryan's deli had changed owners. I picked up a muffuletta. When I got home I found MAYONNAISE on my muffuletta. I love mayonnaise but NOT on a Muffuletta. No where have I ever seen mayonnaise on a muffuletta. I threw it away. When it comes to muffulettas they have no clue. Never went back. I assume the other menu items are good but I'm not taking a chance. There is a picture where you can see the mayonnaise. read more

This place is on an unassuming road in a gas station. I was leary to try but reviews are accurate I had probably the best tuna sandwich I have ever had. My husband got a shrimp poboy which looked good. The fries are made fresh and everything looks homemade. The front counter lady taking orders was super sweet and made you feel welcomed. One of the best shrimp po boys around. Perfectly seasoned crunchy popcorn shrimp. I always ask for extra mayo because it can be a little dry. The bread for their po boys is inconsistent. I will likely start either ordering it with a bun or just the shrimp basket. Fries are good if you eat there. read more

Never again. We traveled 43 miles after having called about getting a king cake for a special occasion. I was told that I couldn't reserve one but they would put them out at 1pm the next day, and if not by 1, shortly after. We went early, deciding to have lunch there, as well. At 1:15, time was getting short so I nicely asked if they might be put out, soon. I explained that I'd traveled a distance and had called. The message that came back from the kitchen was (and I quote), "That's bullsh*t and I'm not putting them out until 2". The cake was ready. I already spent $28 on lunch. By the way, change your oil. Ryan's is a dump, it's dirty and the king cakes are not that outstanding. I won't be back. read more

I totally agree with the above (or Below) postee. I moved away from La (New Orleans) for the storm and my parents moved up here to Hammond. My mom always bragged bout this place named Ryan's that has great food like "the city" (New Orleans). I was like Yeah Right... but then my Grum'ma said the same thing and she dont lie bout good eats! So when I visited my mom took me there and Awwwwe Maannnn! The food was ROLLIN' (lol) Now its one of the few places I eat from in Hammond that taste like HOME! read more

Ordered a large muffuletta and Cajun fries. Fries were cold and soggy. The muffuletta was room temp. Put it in the oven when I got home. It had a ton of meat on it and a good amount of olive salad. But I was turned off by mayo on the top and bottom bun. Also, roast beef on a muffuletta????? Who does that! Took the roast beef off and tried to scrape the mayo off. Did not help. Ok, so this is one of those places that people pass by every day and never give a second glance. Don't let the outside fool you. I just finished probably the best shrimp po'boy on the Northshore! This thing was loaded! It was overflowing with shrimp. They were fried perfectly golden and seasoning was on point. Lettuce, tomato and mayo topped off the crusty but soft Ledienheimer bread. I also had the onion rings which were thin and crunchy, seasoned well and not greasy at all. These things were a meal in themselves! Even the kids chicken tender meals was tasty. Tell me, where can you get a 11", a 6", 2 onion rings, a kids meal and a coke for $32 AND have it be amazing? Ryan's Deli, that's where! Btw, they are on Waitr. read more

If I could leave a zero review I would. I called in a order to go. They were out of muffulettas at 2 pm. That's fine so I order a burger. We went to pick up the food and it was so unorganized and people standing everywhere. Told us it would be a longer wait. Waited another 30 min and went inside to again pick up the order, then a lady told me they were out of burger buns after I had already went inside the first time. Anyone from New Orleans knows about Central Grocery. Well... Central Grocery can't hold a candle to this place!!! Absolutely GREAT sandwiches! You will not leave hungry. Muffulettas 4" thick of meat, not olive salad!! Bing search Central Grocery New Orleans. Click on the first link. There is a photo of their muffuletta. That is about 1" of meat. Terrible Food!! This place use to be good but it's awful now. Shrimp are tiny and pre made. The Muffaletta had mayo and roast beef on it and it was disgusting. Who puts that on real Muffaletta's!! The Eggplant fries were greasy and mushy with no substance. The only thing good is there cinnamon rolls. They deserve one star. read more

Ordered 2 Roast beef poboys. Didn't get what I expected. The meat was that processed sliced meat you buy in the grocery store, soaked in a little gravy. Was so disappointed. Plus that little bread was 8 inches long, but was about 2" wide lol. Was not good. Not ordering from there again. read more

Don't let the convenience store title scare you away from this gem! This was my first visit so the ordering then pay after you get your food process they have was a little confusing, but the food was worth it. They are known for their Po Boys and Muffalatas. Defiantly worth a try! The price is great for the amount of food! I got the 8" roast beef dressed/sloppy and could only eat 1/2. My husband got the 6" fried shrimp. The shrimp were popping out because there were a lot of those suckers AND they were spicy. read more

I'm a poboy snob. Grew up in Nola. Started working at poboy shops when I was 12. They have some good food but their roast beef poboy and shrimp poboy need some work. The shrimp although plentiful are small and seem under battered. I don't think they toast the bread properly. The fried foods are a little heavy on the salt. If the ham and turkey are your best poboys there is something wrong. read more
