Located on the edge of downtown, Lately's is serving up NY style pizza, breakfast all day (and night on the weekends), along with select signature sandwiches. The NY style pizza has the perfect char, does not droop, and the toppings do not slide off. Perfectly balanced with cheese to sauce to dough, I cannot get enough - especially when slices are huge and just $2.99! I have only had their pizza but the staff and atmosphere are warm, sunny, and super friendly. Their shop is easily accessed from Water Street where there is tons of free parking and is steps away from Granite City Park (you know - the place with the chairs). Lately's takes card and cash, and also offers Coke products, self serve coffee, and a selection of cold adult beverages! There is plenty of inside seating, but, in my opinion, the red table outside in the sun on the sidewalk is where I like to chill. NY style pizza is alive and well at Lately's in Hallowell.

Fluffy, tender, yet a little moist, slightly sweet and salty, it was perfect. The perfect biscuit. The biscuits and gravy were a most gratifying experience. The service was attentive and friendly. The only drawback, which was minor, was that my eggs were a little overdone. My husband sincerely appreciated the display of military heroes on the wall of the restaurant with photos and medals. Ample parking lot for the size of the place up front. They have a menu with a variety of bar food as well as several specials on offer each night. The blue burger was quite nice. I ordered and received it cooked medium. The bun was not bad, but not exceptional. Fries were skin on 1/4" strips. They were pretty good. The fried clam's were a special and were very good. We washed it down with Geary's HSA (a local brew). A few other local notables were also on tap. The wait staff was friendly, but I am sure it helps to show up with a group of locals.
