I recently ate at Bistro Milliard and couldn't be more impressed. The waitress was super sweet and food came out relatively quickly. It's a small restaurant, so make sure you book a reservation in advance. Food was delicious!

Charming and intimate experience with this chef owned unique bistro. Highly recommend the Tuna and Muscles. Wine was delightful and the waitress had a great attentive but not overbearing approach. Hidden in bustling Hallowell! Special occasion kind of experience.

10/10 best gnocchi I've ever had. Focaccia to start was a nice touch, and the apps were fantastic as well. Tim changed the recipe to the white beans and sausage to meet my vegan dietary preference and absolutely nailed it. Excellent service as well, couldn't recommend this restaurant enough.

I had the mussels, the dates, and tuna as the appetizer all was very delicious! I ordered two entrees the filet and ravioli both was the best I have ever eaten! The desserts are tremendous the pan cotta is incredible. It was so good I almost cried eating it. Highly recommend everyone try this restaurant I will be coming back a lot

    Agnolotti al sugo di funghi

Exactly what Hallowell needs! While other surrounding towns are getting fabulous chef-owner restaurants, this one landed with aplomb. The chef, experience from Italy to Portland, is very welcoming and delivers every dish with finesse and faster than expected for a one man show and one waitstaff for now. There are limited tables in this cozy romantic space (former Slates building) so reservations are encouraged. Outdoor patio is planned for the future. The calamari was tender and savory, braised with porcini and pecorino. Eggplant was a perfect parmesan app. And the agnolotti di funghi the best pasta (house made) dish I've had in some time. Panna cotta was very traditional. They call the apps "tapas" but really they are a half dozen appetizers of choice, slightly larger than a tapas house would deliver. So in the end the prices are typical for a joint like this (including the wine and good beer offerings). We are returning to try more!

This time we brought the whole family for dinner. I'd recommend reservations on weekends since it was packed, but we got seated right away because we planned ahead. Our waitress was top-notch -- high energy, charming, attentive. I'd give her 6 stars if I could! She read our crew well and adapted to each individual at the table -- a skill that clearly came from experience, and it served her (and us) well. Everything we had was great: cocktails, appetizers, dinner -- not a bad thing on the table. But the standouts for me were the Buffalo Cauliflower and the Spicy Shrimp Shio Ramen. For drinks, the seasonal Crazy (whiskey, Amaro Montenegro, beet, cayenne, lemon, egg white) and the Veruca Salt (tequila, coconut, avocado, pineapple, lime) were both incredible. I loved them so much I'm making a special trip back to town during my stay just to have them again ;) Bravo, State Lunch! You've got a fan for life. Book that reservation -- you won't be disappointed.

We chose delivery and it sent us to DoorDash, that seemed better because we never have issues with deliveries from DoorDash. We placed the order at 6:33pm and the estimated time to deliver was 7:02. We never received any updates from DoorDash so I called the store the first time at 7:09. The person who answered stated that they couldn't update DoorDash but the pizza was already out for delivery and it'd be here soon. I called the second time at 7:34 asking for an update and the person said that it was still out for delivery and would be right to us. I called again at 8:17 and asked for an update. They stated the delivered the pizza and followed our directions 'to a tee'. Thankfully I have a ring doorbell and checked it. There was no delivery to our door. They said it was delivered but didn't take a picture and mentioned that they don't use DoorDash drivers they use their own. I went to the surrounding doors but no delivery. I have officially learned my lesson. Hopefully I get my money back. Past issues: Ordering extra black olives, they charged me $9 for them and when the cashier opened it to look they said 'That doesn't look like extra olives?' It wasn't. Ordered a pizza, no cheese delivery, because I don't like cheese. I made sure he said no cheese. It got to my apartment with extra cheese. My friend and I went there, her choice, to get garlic bread. I asked for the kind with no cheese and extra garlic butter. I got the driest bread. The next delivery I decided to get a salad, everyone else had pizza. I ordered a large and got a small. That time I had to drive and get my replacement. The driver then said they'd get in trouble for not checking the receipt before leaving the store. I didn't want them to get into trouble. I promise you I've 100% learned my lesson.

What are they famous for you ask? Well, seafood...of course. Specifically, the lobster roll. My boyfriend loves the lobster roll! I had the popcorn chicken basket with crinkle fries that I could eat everyday if given the choice. The seasoning and breading are just right & fried until golden brown without sacrificing safe cooking or flavor. Another one of those busy places-it's a restaurant that attracts locals and tourists. They've always got inspirational quotes on their marquee. Outdoor patio seating (tables with umbrellas) and a no-frills, basic interior decor. Gives total seaside vibes.

They have the option for ordering takeout Ahead of time or online. There is significant outdoor seatting as well as a small interior dining room. The interior has one non gender handicap, accessible bathroom. The menu is not excessive, but the portions are generous. CAUTION: pay close attention to the prices. they will fluctuate and you should not assume what the final cost of your meal will be beforehand!! My clam basket and my daughter's 1/4lb roll (2 20 Oz drinks) totaled $65!! Now I will absolutely give credit to them for the clam portion being large and high quality. These were the type of onion rings that I prefer, which are thinner and more crunchy with less batter. That said, the total completely blew my mind.Because even with a very industry standard upcharge for onion rings in place of french fries.I had sticker shock. I grew up near Portland so I understand the price of seafood can change quickly. But I would say do some price shopping. Because this is more about the experience of the location since the quality of food does exist at other restaurants. In maine.
