I would never recommend this driving school. From the first phone call to the final step of issuing the student's certificate of completion for both the written and behind-the-wheel tests, the entire process was incredibly disorganized. Every interaction felt confusing, communication was poor, and we constantly had to follow up to get basic information and paperwork completed. What should have been a straightforward experience turned into a frustrating and stressful one. The lack of organization and professionalism made an already important milestone much more difficult than it needed to be. There are plenty of other driving schools that value their students' time and provide better customer service. Unfortunately, this was a horrible experience, and I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

My son said that the lady driving instructor was screaming at him all the time instead she should have been TEACHING HIM. I paid a lot of money for this kind of service? He refused to take any more lessons, and this has kept him from driving, Please, make sure you pick someone who has patience and kindness when you choose to put your confidence in someone. They Scheduled my pick up time at the same time as my test and as a result , when I got there i was late and couldn't take the test . Clearly, Donna smokes in the car when she isn't teaching. As a nonsmoker I found this to be very offensive. The vehicle has duct tape holding the front bumper together. The car overall seemed run down and loud when driving even though it was a Prius. Her demeanor is aggressive and makes you feel like you should already know questions when you ask her anything. Most of the time I just kept quiet. She took multiple personal calls. She has a very mean-spirited vindictive personality. read more

Harvey was fantastically calm, patient and knowledgable with my son for the 6 hours of lessons he took. He took a 2 hour lesson when he first started driving and then 4 hours in the week leading up to his test and he passed first time! SCAM! We scheduled a driving test appointment and they canceled on us less than 24 hours before the DMV appointment. They said it was due to them not servicing the area we live in, yet they gladly took payment of $325 at the time of booking and sent a confirmation. We immediately asked for a refund to be processed upon their cancelation and they ensured us that one would be on issued in 5-7 business days. After waiting that amount of time, we followed up again, and they told us that they had processed the refund on their end, but sometimes these things take time with the bank. After 21 days and numerous phone calls to Route 66, we still have not received the refund. They blamed the issue on the bank and that we should take it up with them. Shameful way to operate a business. read more

It was 1:24 pm on Saturday March 19th...... I was threatened by one of the driving instructors while driving on Sepulveda and Howard Hughes Parkway...... There was road construction going on and the instructor honked me from behind....... telling me to go faster.....he later than pulled up beside my to shout out further obscenities..... I started to record him on camera and then he began to threaten me hoping that it would stop me from recording........ When that did not work...he then got out of the car......... he then came toward me and tried the threaten and bully me even more....... I have the whole incident on camera............ read more

Mike took my daughter out three times -- two hours per lesson -- and she just passed her driver's test on her first attempt. He was patient and went over areas he and I spoke about and he worked with her until these "bumps in the road" were eliminated. Nice guy, very thorough and he made the lessons fun for her, too. I never thought I would be able to drive if it wasn't for Route 66 driving school! I had two instructors who were both very informative. I mainly had Mike as my instructor and I have to tell you he does a wonderful job. Not only did they give me lessons, but also made my appointment at the DMV for my driving test. My daughter completed her online drivers education course with this company and just completed the 6 hours of behind the wheel training with Mike. He's an Excellent instructor, Patient, Personable and Very Kind. My daughter liked him so much she wants him to go with her to the DMV the day of her actual drivers license test. Route 66 Driving School was a perfect match for my daughter's learning style and busy schedule. Mike was her driving instructor and he was very positive in the way he taught the basics of driving. Every time I called to set up a 2 hour session, Mike was available. I could ask for driving sessions on the phone (live or at night on the voice mail) and I would receive an email confirmation of the driving appointment. Mike took her driving around the Inglewood DMV during two lessons, which is where she took her test. She was well prepared and confident with the neighborhood and the tricky lights and turns. The Mini Cooper was a great car to learn on. She also drove with me in our minivan, so she had the opportunity to practice in a big and small vehicle. The best proof of Route 66 Driving School? We have twins who arranged lessons with Route 66. Harvey was the instructor for both girls and he was great!! The right mix of caution and confidence building for two girls who couldn't be more different, they just happen to have the same birthday. They both passed their driving test the first time. He took them to the course and talked about what to expect and gave great advise the day of. We arrived early enough for the girls to drive around in the area so they weren't as nervous as if we just pulled up and they had to drive for the test. Thank you Route 66 and Harvey. read more

I took 4 lessons, 2 with Mike and 2 with Harvey. Both were incredibly impatient, they both snapped at me and raised their voice at me, repeatedly. They made me more paranoid and scared of driving than I was going in. Yes, I was making mistakes but that's why I was paying for lessons! I will have to take more lessons but it won't be with Route 66. Stay away! read more

I called to get pricing and details. The woman answering the phone was very rude. They only have Dual Brakes. Most schools have Dual Brakes and Dual Gas. Some even have Dual Steering Wheels. If this woman's attitude was indicative of the customer service they provide, i would " Steer Clear" of Route 66. read more
