We stopped here after a Track and Field event at Houghton College. Surprisingly we were the only dinners there. The service was good and the food was delicious. We all ordered different menu items and everyone was happy with their meals. read more

We are from Chicago, staying at the Jellystone in North Java. We went to see Niagara Falls and stopped here on the way back. Great food, service and unreal ambiance. The people were extremely nice and this place has a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely check this place out. read more

Alright... I have a lot of thoughts regarding my experience at this establishment. Friday night my family and I drove around trying to decide on a place for dinner and after finding a few of the places we wanted to go to overly crowded, we decided to check out the Route 78 Pub. When we got there, they are decently busy which I would take as a good sign... When my mom and I walked in the door, we were immediately halted by the strongest smell of cat pee I have ever experienced. I will say honestly, how a place could pass a health inspection with that sort of stench completely baffles me. Whether that was really the cause of the smell or not, is a moot point. It was just bad - nearly choking. The hostess was M.I.A when we walked in, so a waitress told us to go wait in the bar area and she took our name. The bar was packed and incredibly loud. The clientele patronizing the bar section were having a pretty loud and vulgar sexual conversation...lovely dinner entertainment. ....or not. After being packed like sardines in the bar for awhile, the four of us were seated at a table...about two inches from the bathrooms, right in an isle and realistically better suited for two or three (maybe) people. Our waitress wanted to order our food immediately (she literally introduced herself and wanted an order) and then when we asked for a minute to decide, seemed to disappear for about 10 minutes or so. When she came back to order, someone in our party accidentally spilled their drink and it got all over my arm, and the table. I had to ask for more napkins because apparently she didn't have the foresight to realize that maybe I didn't want to go through the rest of our adventure soaked and smelling of beer. The menu itself was distracting. They were obviously going with a automotive theme and it was covered in little road sign pictures and organized rather haphazardly. Their offerings were pretty much standard fare, nothing awfully exciting -- typical American grub. I ordered a mushroom & Swiss burger with extra crispy fries. R ordered a quesadilla and an order of onion rings to share with everyone. M ordered the chicken quesadilla. W ordered spaghetti and meatballs...since they were out of fish. The spaghetti came with the salad bar, which was decent and had potato and tuna salads in addition to the typical green salad fixings. Let me say that out of everything we ordered, the onion rings were the best. Everything else was teetering a fine line between tolerable and disgusting. My burger was a clearly pre-formed frozen patty. The mushrooms were canned, the tomatoes mealy and the roll was stale. I ate barely half of it. My extra crispy fries? Maybe on the outside, but the insides tasted barely cooked. The quesadillas were alright but the huge slices of mealy tomatoes were a bit of a turnoff and without them, it probably would have been an acceptable quesadilla. The spaghetti wasn't even spaghetti --it was angel hair (which personally I prefer - though it wasn't mine). The "fresh garlic bread" it was served with was white bread barely toasted, and the portion itself was surprisingly small for an inexpensive to make pasta dish. I really tried to hold an open mind after my initial reaction walking in but it was a pretty down hill experience. I can not say I would ever return to this establishment and if anything I would tell people to avoid it rather than suggesting it. read more

Stopped in here for a quick meal with the family and was pleasantly surprised. It definitely has the "been here forever" local pub feel to it, but also has a bit of a family restaurant feel as well. They have a little salad bar that comes with a lot of the meals, which is something you don't see much of anymore so that was a nice additional option. I opted for some cheesy bacon fries, and a burger. The food was really good and no complaints around the table. Reasonable priced and the service was fast and friendly. I would certainly consider checking this place out again if I'm ever in the area. read more

This is one of the most friendly, family atmosphere restaurants one can find anywhere. Thea, the owner, always welcomes people with a smile and an occasional hug. Love Lori, Melanie and the crowd. The floors slope down near the big window where one can observe the birds during dinner. Here, most everyone knows the regulars like family. Am always amazed that they have Angry Orchard for us gluten sensitive people; glad they do. You get a good portion at a fair price. Salad & Soup Bar is well stocked. Being a lover of beets, and other things, there has never been an empty beat bowl and love it. The breads include the usual, plus banana bread and other specialty breads too & all the butter one could ask for or want. Once had an issue with swordfish, it was never rinced before baking. Said something about it to Thea and she took it to the next level by removing the bill. Am still gobsmacked over this, though it has been over one year since then. We travel about 24 miles each way to get here, and worth every one of those miles. Strykersville is considered a long drive from Buffalo or Rochester, but it's like driving home to family. Rarely order dessert, though every once in a while, take something home. read more

Obsessed with their Prime Rib!! I have been there a few times and am never disappointed with the Prime Rib. They also have decent pizza and wings (which are another favorite at times). Salad bar is usually stocked great! Soups are hit or miss. It's a pub setting, even though there is a somewhat separate dining area. It can get loud at times. Poor service, horrible nachos. Nachos had a scant amount of burnt hamburger. I ordered no sour cream and extra salsa. I was not told by the waitress that it was 50 cents for a tiny cup. Never did the waitress come back to check on us until my friends were done with their burgers which were standard pub fare. She was busy telling other customers about her upcoming camping trip and refilling dressing bottles. I came for fish which they were out of on a Friday night. Very unimpressed with my first visit with different owners. Will definitely NOT return. read more

We hadn't been to this place in at least a few years. I truly don't know why. So very glad we chose it last nite. Had a haddock fish fry, it was gigantic, came with salad bar, where there was a broccoli salad, tuna salad, cole slaw along with the normal fixings & soup. The entree came with either a potato or vegetable. A nice presentation with a slice of watermelon. All for a very reasonable price. Service was wonderful with a very pleasant waitress. We have been here about a dozen times for lunch or dinner and the food is always excellent. The salad bar is always fresh and a great deal. Everything is reasonably priced and the staff is friendly. Again we have never had anything that wasn't great, but the best things are the fish fries, the steaks, and the prime rib. read more

Tonight was the kind of night where I just didn't feel like cooking and couldn't decide what I wanted to eat anyway. I called my sister and invited her and her family to go somewhere to eat with my family. We decided the Strykersville Pub was a good choice since neither of us have been there in years. We were NOT disappointed! It was perfect! The menu is packed full of choices, the atmosphere is comfortable & cozy, the food was amazing, the service was impeccable (that says a lot coming from a server!), and the prices are fair. On Mondays, they have BOGO wings and also a taco bar. I had the taco bar, my child had the mushroom Swiss burger with fries, and my hubby had a burger as well. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The taco bar was awesome and the burgers were cooked perfectly and very juicy. The fries were mouth watering crunchy. Also, this place is definitely kid friendly! They have a huge bookshelf, in the back of the dining room, just filled with toys and coloring books & crayons for the kids! Both of our toddler boys were happy and occupied throughout the entire meal and we never had to rush to go home. We couldn't have made a better choice for our little impromptu dining out tonight. We absolutely love this place. We live an hr away and don't mind the drive because this place is worth it. The soups are homemade and the breads are as well. The service has always been great. The burgers I like, pies are homemade. The bathrooms are clean. Finally I like that they have a restaurant/ bar separate from each other. read more
