We shared a Phily Cheesesteak. It was pretty good. The strange thing was that it apparently had sliced canned mushrooms in it, but I did not see or taste a mushroom until my last bite. The sandwich was very juicy; eating over the plate is a good idea. Nice flavor, shredded beef, hidden mushrooms and melted provolone cheese on a soft roll. The restaurant was not very busy, although there were a few customers at the bar on the other side of the main entrance. Took a friend here for her birthday. We met at four so it's an off time and we got seated immediately. We started with cocktails. Our waitress was very attentive and wished my friend a happy birthday. We were greeted and seated by our incredibly happy server who let us take our choice of tables. Our drink requests were taken quickly and those of us who dine with kids know the importance of getting their food out as fast as possible. Our little diner who's a chicken finger connoisseur said their chicken fingers were great, good sized, lots of fries. The misses got the cheese steak sandwich, a hearty helping of meat and vegetables on this roll and a good amount of fries, she noted that the beef really didn't have much/if any seasoning on it. I tried a piece and I'll definitely agree with her on that, it could have used some. The Reuben was served on a nice thick cut of rye, and had that griddle perfect appearance. A touch dry though , it could have benefited from some thousand island dressing (I'd ask for some next time ). We sat outside on the deck, it was such a beautiful warm day for October. A nice view and of the lake, at a very fair price point. Someone must be a Jimmy Buffet fan cause there were lots of cute Margaritaville decor. I noticed that the restaurant and outside deck are very wheelchair/walker accessible with ramps. 4/5 for this little hidden gem! I enjoyed my dinner here and if you sit outside you can get a good view of the water! Outdoor seating has a cute beach/tropical ambiance. Service was great. Our waitress was really accommodating and informed us of all of the specials and homemade options we should consider! Also there were several "bus girls" who were running out to clear plates and clean tables. Really liked that! As for the food, it's a good 4/5. The clam chowder wasn't that flavorful and the ranch also needed some extra seasoning, but they said it was homemade. I also wish my spinach on the California chicken was diced up, but the chicken was sooooo tender and delicious! Crab cakes were homemade and so tasty as well! Overall I would come back here! They have a daily fish fry which was delicious (also with homemade salads). The tuna melt and the French dip from other customers looked amazing so I would like to return and try those items! We came here on a hot day after finding out that the restaurant we planned to attend had no reservations. This area has seen warmer than normal temperatures, and I'm thinking thats why a lot more people were out too (as opposed to cooking at home). There wasn't a wait over here. Rodney's did have a sign on the door asking patrons to close the door upon entering as I'd assume their a/c was struggling and it was uncomfortably warm. The staff was friendly, attentive, and did a phenomenal job. The prices were also very decent. The bread was fresh, the meat was generous, and I was a fond of the fries too. We were glad to finish our food and leave as it felt much cooler outside. I hope they fix or upgrade their a/c or that it does a better job when it isn't 85+ outside. I ordered a beef on weck. We've been here a few times. We come back for the fish fry! There is usually an older crowd in here. They are absolutely slammed on Friday nights. Because of this I think we encountered a few mistakes that made this review a 3 rather than a 4. There was a little wait when we went, which was totally fine because we just grabbed a drink at the bar. After a bit, we noticed the people behind us had been seated. We went back to the hostess and she realized she had mixed up our parties by accident. Waited a few more minutes for a table. We weren't pressed because we had our drinks and were content. When we got a table, we ordered almost immediately. I got a sandwich and side salad, my boyfriend got the fish fry and an appetizer for us to share. After about 30 minutes, the waitress comes by to tell us she messed up and our appetizer would be out with our dinner. So we got all of our food at the same time. We didn't even touch the appetizer since we got all the food at once. Our food was good. Standard pub fare. My boyfriend's fish fry looked delightful. My sandwich was pretty good. I'll update you about our untouched appetizer once I eat the leftovers! We'll be back to this little bar along the lake, it's a nice stop when the nights get a bit warmer and the patio is open. read more

Have passed Rodney's several times and decided to stop in for lunch. Great atmosphere, awesome server and fantastic menu. We had the goulash which was fantastic, large portion, very tasty and reasonably priced. I won't drive by again and look forward to my next visit. read more

I remember that the food was better then than it was this last time. Service was very good. Friendly, efficient. Water refilled without asking. Fair warning that separate checks might slow down our receiving our bills if she got slammed. No problem! But thanks for the heads-up. The ambience feels a bit shabby. Most notably the sticky carpet. Ew. The philly cheesesteak is ridiculously HUGE. Everyone who ordered it took half home. They pronounced the beef tender and tasty. My grilled salmon was overcooked, hence the 3 stars. A place known for its seafood should serve excellent seafood every single time. It wasn't inedible by any means, but it's disappointing to be served something I can cook better myself. Alongside the fish was a little souffle cup of some mystery substance that I forgot to inquire about. I chose potato salad for my side, and it was exceptional. Obviously house made, with not too much mayonnaise and perfectly cooked potatoes. The dinner salad was also great. Chickpeas, onions, grape tomatoes, croutons, cucumber atop fresh, crisp lettuce. I appreciate a side salad that doesn't feel like an afterthought. Being just across the street from the lake, Rodney's has a built-in draw. This place was busy with 2 large older aged groups when we went on a Saturday evening. It was quite loud inside and on the patio. I'll give it a thumbs up if you want to be able to move tables so a large group can sit together. There is a large food menu, but a small list of draft beers available . Went here for dinner on a Saturday night. Had a reservation to sit outside but they said they gave our table away and we'd have to wait. Ended up sitting inside instead because as it was we were waiting for 30 minutes after the time of our reservation to sit down and it would've taken longer to wait to sit outside like our reservation was for. Pretty sure their AC was broken because it was extremely hot inside. I would stay away from grilled chicken there as it was the blandest thing I've ever eaten no seasoning whatsoever. My mom had the unfortunate luck of her birthday falling on Labor Day this year, which meant many restaurants were closed. Rodney's happened to be open, though, so we decided to eat here to celebrate! The restaurant is outdated in terms of decor, but it offers a patio and a view of the lake that just can't be beat. Our server was very kind and everything came out in a timely manner. The menu has something for everyone -- from a host of seafood options, to sandwiches and burgers. I opted for a grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad, and I have to say, it was pretty delicious. Very filling and satisfying, though a little plain! My boyfriend ordered a fish fry (which they serve up every day of the week, not just Fridays), and it looked insanely good. The fish looked to be fried perfectly, and it came with huge portions of macaroni salad, potato salad, and fries. I will definitely be adding this place to my list for fish fry season. No special service. The food was very good. Great choices! Not too much ( that doesn't impress me) I'd rather have a small amount but, excellent sides! German potato salad was excellent. Fish was very fresh tasting, not overly fishy smell. Great!! They really do have to watch plating salads too soon. Mac was a little crusty. Cole slaw tasted stale. We went there on Friday night, If you don't have two hours to wait, I would skip this restaurant on this busy night. The service was honestly very slow and our waitress was spread super thin with two back to back large tables. It was incredibly warm in the restaurant, they definitely get to maximum capacity. I had to shout to my date for him to hear me. I ordered the fish fry because when I was there a few years ago and it was terrific. I ordered traditional Buffalo beer battered and after waiting well over an order for our orders, I received breaded fish. I certainly wasn't sending it back. My boyfriend ordered the scallops au grain. The food was none the less very good. I can only imagine how busy they are during lent season. I think we will skip this place going forward. read more

Living in Hamburg, you always hear about Rodney's fish fries and how amazing they are. Though I don't overly love fish fries, I had to try one to see what the hype is about. They are huge! And crisped to perfection while keeping the fish tasting fresh. Totally worth the hype! I personally loved the sides also. The macaroni salad wasn't overly packed with mayo, and the Cole slaw was the best I've had in a while. The French fries were the typical fries you get with every fish fry from anywhere. The price is steep though. Something like $15 for the full. The interior of the place could use a little renovating. It has a very old feel. read more

I loved the french onion soup! Not at all full of post-simmer bullion which obviously intensifies the sodium level. Crabcakes full of crab and not filler! Then came the seafood platter. The fish (haddock I believe), lightly breaded and fried perfectly and so were the clam strips. But... right when i was going to mention the scallops and shrimp, my server (who was AWESOME btw..) already knew. She read my mind and basically said, "these are way overcooked. I'm getting you more", which they were. By at least a solid minute over in the fryer. Oversight by the fry cook I'm sure. That said, all else was great. We will be back. read more

This is my husbands go to restaurant. It has your typical American fare. The menu is huge, probably too big. I think if they scaled back and focused on quality, it would be 5 stars. My husband ordered the club sandwich - he really enjoyed it. I got a salad with chicken and it was great. Everything was fresh, and there were 4 giant pieces of perfectly grilled chicken on top. I think it was 2 full breasts. I would have taken the other half home if we weren't on the way to the airport - seemed like such a waste. They also have quick-draw in there which is always fun. I order the smothered chicken and it was served in a tiny little casserole loaded with a juice which made it difficult to cut. Not much seasoning on the vegetables very bland. They ran out of baked potatoes so I had to settle for rice which was not good. My husband had steak and shrimp which was very good and he opted for the homemade potato salad which was a much better option. I honestly am not a very picky eater, but I would never order this again. Service was pretty subpar also. This is the place you take out of towners when they visit. Menu is straight forward and non intimidating. Atmosphere is very casual; you are good in a button down shirt or a polo. Small but welcoming with additional seating on a patio; weather permitting. The stuffed Hungarian peppers were a nice start. Good filling; would have liked them baked 5 minutes longer but flavorful. The fish is always good. When dining in, I get the broiled or Au Gratin. When taking out I get the traditional fish fry. Limited draft beers but they have the Buffalo staples in bottles. Rodney's has always been one of my favorite places since I was young. The service is always good and the quality of the food is a bargain for the prices. The bbq shrimp Orleans is always amazing. Anytime you have shrimp wrapped in bacon you can't go wrong. I had a burger and sweet potato fries and it was cooked to asking and had good flavors. The rest of my table had great food as well and enjoyed their meals. The only small negative is that the inside is a bit dated and not very modern.
