Usually when you go to a seafood boiler they give you a bucket and throw the stuff on the table... but here at a nice sit down restaurant you can other items that come on a plate and not thrown on the table... and they bring the boiler neatly ion a cooking pan... bucket also comes with gloves and bibs, along with crackers and other items to navigate through shrimp, king crab legs,, corn, and potatoes... so much better... since I ordered bread, calamari, and clam chowder with bread instead of the boil... everything was good... at my age eating with my hands are past... so having a place where you can have both is awesome... because our friends love eating with their hands... I'll be back if they decide to eat seafood with their hands... me... I will eat with a knife and fork...
Louisiana Creole Approved!!!! Wow, just wow. There were a few other things I was not able to photograph because everyone was so excited about the food it got snatched up. Lol My mother was in town, and I told her about a place that has creole cuisine. Being born and raised in Louisiana, my mom has a very strong opinion on southern cooking. She ordered a cup of a the seafood gumbo and was blown away. My mom has never liked any restaurants gumbo outside of the south. However, this fine establishment was the first to win her seal of approval. Everything was well seasoned and absolutely divine. We ordered several entrées like the gumbo, steamed oysters, French bread and butter, kids chicken tenders, H0use, lobster, blackened catfish, beignets, margarita, strawberry lemonade and a Moscow mule. The food was great. The service was good. The atmosphere was peaceful. There were so many great menu items. It was hard to choose so I guess that means we'll have to continue to keep going back so we can try everything.
Came here our last night of the trip. Nathan was the server, and he did an amazing job suggesting different foods for us to try. All the food we had here was 10/10. Definitely wished we had another night to come so we can try out the whole menu. But definitely will be back!
Another date-night experience. My wife and I have a number of hometown favorite places to eat with friends and family. My wife also has a little phrase she likes to use on Friday mornings as we wrap up a busy week of work, family, home projects, and other commitments. She will inevitably turn to me, smile, and say, "Where are you taking me for dinner tonight?" Sometimes we enjoy returning to those familiar places where you can always count on a good meal, attentive service, and a comfortable setting. But this Friday, I was thinking, maybe not. How about a place with a menu that was a little unique to the Southern California community, but not necessarily international fare? That's when I came across Roux Seafood Kitchen. I always check the interior and exterior photos before trying a new restaurant because my wife notices things that I would never even think about or care about. For example, she immediately noticed the oyster shells as we walked to the door and the double glass doors as we left the restaurant. Both earned her seal of approval. The dining room and bar area were orderly, classy, and appeared clean and polished. This place was going to make the grade. I made reservations through the website's chat feature and received a prompt response, so we were set for the evening. We were greeted warmly at the door and escorted to a table with a "Reserved" sign on it. A corner booth by the window--perfect. The service was attentive throughout the evening. At least four different servers stopped by to check on us during the meal, and whenever we requested something, it arrived quickly. Every member of the staff was pleasant, engaging, and personable. As many other reviewers have noted, there are similarities to New Orleans-style cuisine. We, too, were reminded of the flavors and Cajun-inspired epicurean dining experiences we've enjoyed in the past. We topped off the evening with warm, sweet beignets covered in powdered sugar. It was a wonderful dinner and a pleasant evening, with just a little taste of Bourbon Street on Beach Boulevard.
Whereas I do post reviews regularly and am mostly happy with them, seldom is it that I am deeply excited to write one. That being said, my first visit to Roux was impromptu. It has been on my list but it hasn't come up in quite a while so I forgot about it. We went around 6:15 and were greeted by a vent at the hosts desk. He asked if I had a reservation, and I didn't because I couldn't find a place on Yelp or their website to make one. He informed me that I could find it through Google or calling them directly. There was a large party in events room and the rest of the place was packed. He apologized twice that I'd have to wait and I told him I understood. It was literally less than five minutes! Brother, you did NOT have to apologize. We were seated in a booth toward the back and the people that attended to us were Quoc and Christine. Hands down absolutely STELLAR service! They have it down to a rhythm, top notch all the way! And with a packed house AND huge party event going on they were checking in on us often! Now onto the food. I told Christine to please give my kudos to the chef. The food was divine!! I've been to NOLA many times and this place is better than some places there! We ordered the Oysters Rockefeller, Mardi Gras Pasta, Shrimp & Grits, the Jambalaya, and the fried bananas for dessert. First off, you only need one entree per person, and tbh you can probably share one and an appetizer. Each dish was insanely delicious. Seasoned and cooked to perfection. And they do not skimp on anything! The number of shrimp they give you is more than ample and they are big! Not only that, the price point is awesome! I could go on and on but I'll wrap this up so that anyone reading this puts their phone down and rushes over to this place. Roux Seafood Kitchen PLEASE don't change a thing. What you're doing is the way it should be done. A master class in service, food creation, and presentation! Well done...well done!

If so, you will enjoy your night out at Roux! We got there early on Friday night. We are seniors! We were quickly seated and served water and menus. The menu is thrilling with all your Cajun favs (poor boy sandos!), we chose the shrimp etouffee, the lobster bisque and the fried oysters. If you prefer beef they have a tempting selection of steaks including a legendary tomahawk rib eye! Our Heinekens were $6 a bottle. The parking is free and easy! They have beignets for dessert! You will like this place, I promise!
The atmosphere is cozy, the restaurant is small but very elegant, clean and neat. Food is so delicious. If you love seafood and steak, and want to have them at the same time, this would be the good choice! Service is good too. Servers here are really fast and care the guests so well. Definitely one of my fav places
Came here with no reservations on a Saturday evening at around 6 PM. The place was packed particularly because the banquet room was rented out so they had a busy evening. We got the ribeye with the one side. I chose the garlic noodle. He chose the potato. The garlic noodle was just OK. I probably won't order this again. But the red potato was excellent! That was the big nice appetizer of the meal. The ribeye was great, good flavor and came out on a hot sizzling plate. The decor is decorated similarly to New Orleans and gives you that comforting feel. The weight staff is really friendly and does their best. I always appreciate coming here.
Came with my boyfriend's family for a dinner night. We made a reservation, but there was a good amount of seating when we came. I'd definitely make one in the case that more people start coming in! I got the Garlic Noodles with Ribeye Steak (Medium Rare). The steak was tender and well seasoned, but lots of fatty pieces were in there. Paired with the garlic noodles, it was great! You really can't mess up good noodles and steak. I also tried the Shrimp and Hot Sausage, but the sausage was dry. Definitely would stick to the steak. Prior to our meal, we also got the Fried Calamari that was addicting and crispy! Our server was incredibly attentive and quick. He also memorized our big order without writing it down! Props to him!!

My go-to Cajun restaurant in OC. On par w with some of the best I've had in Nola. Great seafood boil, fantastic beignets (evocative of the biegnets I've had at Loretta's in NOLA), and fantastic entrees. Very reasonable pricing. Dropped in on a Friday for the salmon blanc, perfectly cooked salmon with a luxurious white sauce and a crust to die for. Cannot recommend roux seafood enough.
Love love the price and the dishes we ordered. The server is always smiling and polite. He is also very tentive to out table. We went to Roux 2-3 times in the past months. Our usual orders are whole grilled squid , Mardi Gras pasta, shrimp and grits (extra hot), salmon with doy glazed and salmon with lemon garlic. The salmon comes with crispy skin and the both flavors are good. I love my shrimp and Grits extra temperature hot (and they did make it hot as be requested) love it. The squid is charred and grilled to perfection with or without dipping into the sauce. However, it did take a while to get our food, but the food always came out fresh and hot. We did not mind waiting for the fresh dishes right out the stoves. Did I say the price is very reasonable?? That is why with the price, the size,and the freshness of the dishes have us keep coming back. Love it!! Oh, I just learned if you pay cash, I think there is additional 5% off.
Nice little spot, their clam chowder was really good, not the best but I would order again. Their gumbo was average to me, could be better imo. I also had there salmon fish which I thought was pretty damn good, just wish the portion size was a little bigger. Service was a little slow imo but it was kinda busy so I can let it slide. I would come back here.

We recently celebrated a friend's birthday at Roux Seafood Kitchen in Huntington Beach, and the entire experience was spectacular from start to finish. The vibrant Soju cocktails were the perfect way to kick off the evening, setting the tone for a truly memorable dinner. The food was exceptional across the board. We especially loved the Mardi Gras Pasta, which featured a delicious combination of shrimp, andouille sausage, chicken, and mushrooms in a rich marinara cream sauce. The 16 oz. Ribeye was grilled to perfection and topped with a flavorful Cajun butter, and we finished the night with their incredible beignets. Between the authentic New Orleans-inspired dishes, the warm ambiance, and the fantastic service, this spot exceeded all of our expectations. If you are in the Huntington Beach area, I highly recommend giving Roux Seafood Kitchen a try--you definitely won't be disappointed! read more
This festive News Orieans-inspired resto with Asian flair in Huntington Beach did not disappoint! It's a few miles away from the beach, but it is on busy Beach Blvd! We just ordered two staples: Jambalaya & Shrimp Etoufee. Entrees came out in about 20 minutes hot, fresh & amply sized. They're reasonably priced, too! I'm glad we didn't order any apps b/c the entrees were more than enough food. Thought about getting the beignets, but I could not find any more room to fit them in! I had a glass of KJ Chardonnay to accompany the meal and it was pleasant. Service was very friendly and helpful from both servers working today. 5% discount if you use cash! Folks always talk about how there are certain types of restaurants they avoid. Mostly it's because they don't like the taste of the cuisine. Or maybe they like the cuisine, but for health reasons they've been told to avoid eating it. I know for me I just haven't come around to a lot of Asian cuisines that are focused on high vegetable and low protein content. But to this day Toby and I have never shared a seafood boil together. She has a germaphobe reaction to eating food with her hands and there's no easy way to knife-and-fork stuff like shrimp, crawfish, crab, or lobster. She's offered to get something else like fish n' chips or a plain steak or something, while I get myself a boil. However, one of the joys of boils is digging into a mound of Cajun-flavored seafood together as a group effort. A wondrous temple to the art like Roux Seafood Kitchen would be wasted on her. I couldn't get enough of their shrimp and crawfish. They were both plump, flavorful, and disassembled easy in my hands. At a lb. each, I was more than stuffed at meal's end. I think the only thing that could've made it better is if I had ordered a lobster tail in there. That would've been my ideal order. The service was great here for my party. The drinks were refilled quickly, the food was brought out in an efficient manner, and even the order taking was controlled in what kind of have been haphazard conditions. I liked the ambiance too. The dining room was a spacious and accommodating. The music was low. And the crowds were busy but not super full, which is where I like it. Nobody was on top of each other at neighboring tables and the noise level wasn't drowning. All in all, I think this is the perfect example of a seafood boil joint. The only thing that could've made it better is if my oldest eating buddy (and ex) could've miraculously gotten over her condition and joined me. That's the dream. read more

I had the BEST experience at Roux Seafood Kitchen! I've been here twice now and I already know I'll be coming back again and again. First off, the food is incredible: * I ordered the Mardi Gras Pasta (shrimp, andouille sausage, chicken, mushrooms in a marinara cream sauce) and it was SO flavorful, rich, and perfectly balanced * I also tried the Pernod Shrimp Pasta, which was lighter but still packed with flavor from the garlic, basil, white wine, and tomatoes * I also got to try some of my friend's seafood boil and it was delicious! Super flavorful without being overwhelming, which I really appreciated * I have to talk about the beignets... because WOW! They were better than Disneyland's (lol). Perfectly soft, warm, and just chef's kiss You can really tell everything is made fresh and with care. Portions were super filling and the presentation was honestly gorgeous! We had a group of 12 people and we booked their special events room and it was SUCH a fun experience. It had karaoke, TVs, a pool table, and a super cute backdrop! It was perfect for a group hangout or celebration. What made the night even more special was celebrating my birthday there! The team surprised me with a dessert (ice cream with fried bananas!) which was such a sweet and memorable touch. The vibe and ambiance overall was amazing! I'd 100% recommend this place for a group dinner or romantic date night to have your boyfriend peel your shrimps for you LOL. Service was outstanding, especially considering how busy it was. Huge shoutout to Christian, Nathan, Nathan, and Christine for taking such great care of our big group. They were all so friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. Yes, the wait was a bit longer since it was a busy night, but honestly the quality of the food and service made it completely worth it. You can really feel the love behind this place being family-owned, and it shows in both the food and the service! This is a hidden gem. Looks very nondescript from the outside. Inside is quite charming. Service was excellent. (Special shout out to Chris for being so kind and friendly.) Food overall was tasty. (4.4/5) Appetizer: Spinach and artichoke dip Would have liked the dish to be a bit warmer. Also having the cheese more integrated into the mixture would have been nice. But it was still enjoyable. Appetizer: veggie eggrolls They were fried well. Not greasy and not dripping with oil. The vegetables were well flavored and received a serving of four. Entree: Chilean Sea Bass with Creamy Lemon White Wine sauce paired with mixed veggies. The Seabass came pan seared. It had a really tasty rich flavor. Buttery smooth texture and perfectly seasoned. It came with two large grilled shrimps and the vegetables were broccoli, carrots, and cabbage. I only wish the portion size was larger. Dessert: fried banana with vanilla ice cream This was a perfect end to the dinner. Semi sweet with a light dusting of powdered sugar paired with ice cream. Random note: the outside is decorated with oyster shells. I guess after they've been used, they clean them and chuck them outside! read more

This place is a MUST try. Best Alfredo sauce I've ever tried. Lobster bisque is also my favorite to go. This place is amazing for a date night and service is always super friendly and quick. Main thing I love is the amazing pricing for lobsters. Coming back later! read more
Great date spot. Good service. Came in and immediately greeted by server and seated shortly after. They have both indoor seating and outdoor covered seating options for those who prefer the al fresco route. Menu is extensive and there is soemthing for everyone. We had the carpaccio for appetizer and then gumbo and shrimp etouffe for mains. Took a while for them to prepare (so don't come here if you're in a hurry) but when it came out everything was cooked right, seasoned well and tasted great! FYI- it's kid friendly they have food options for a kids meal. While we didn't try it, wanted to mention. It's also wheelchair friendly. They also have a special events room in case you want to book for a private party. The decor is nice and the place is clean and well maintained for special occasions. Easy to find, ample parking. The food is still great. I've been here about a handful of times over the past yr. I would say our fav dishes are the shrimp etouffe (broth is amazing!!!), jambalaya, garlic noodles with shrimp and sausage and the Mardi Gras pasta. Service is still super friendly. I forget her name but the waitress/hostess always does an excellent job. It's a really nice mom and pop spot. If I lived closer I would go more often. read more
Backstory: when my wife and I first started dating we went to a restaurant that coincidentally was called Rue that was also Cajun and was amazing (no pressure). My family and I came to celebrate our 3 yr wedding anniversary. The restaurant definitely gives the nawlins vibe when we walked in, that also looks great as a date spot. Our server was super attentive and was super mindful that when our baby was sleeping he even filled our waters away to reduce the sound which was really thoughtful. We ordered the New Orleans gumbo, fried calamari, Jambalaya, and the Mardi Gras pasta. One previous concern I had previously with Cajun food in California was that it wasnt seasoned well. Well, NO WORRIES HERE! Everything tasted amazing. If you're looking for authentic Cajun, you'd roux the day for not for visiting! Let's go!! read more
Took my mom here yesterday. We are from Louisiana and this place did not disappoint. When I tell you the food was on point you better believe it. We had raw oysters, charboiled oysters BABBBY fresh and amazing flavor. We got a pound of mussels and the cajun sauce they cooked them in was TOP TIER bursting with flavor. I got cajun grits and shrimp w sausage. When I tell you these were the best grits I had. Buttery, creamy with sweet corn and bacon in them PHENOMENAL. my mom had the roux seafood platter OMG this was enough for 2 people maybe even 3. They do not slack on flavor or portions. Our Server Nathan made the experience even better. Our food was so good we asked to speak to the cook they couldn't come out but they sent out some beignets that were perfectly cooked. The service was wonderful! The restaurant was aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately the food wasn't good! As you can see in the picture the cheese wasn't melted in the grilled cheese I got for my son. The food lacked flavor DRASTICALLY! The Mardi Gras pasta lacked flavor but somehow was spicy. The shrimp in the shrimp and grits were seasoned well but the grits were not the best. The clam chowder was good. The drinks are made with soju so they weren't strong but pretty good I got the blue something. And we got the beignets .. they were too dense to be considered beignets. Let' start with the things at Roux that really work! It was the food that was the best thing about this place. The food was five stars and the boys in the kitchen really know their stuff. I have never been to New Orleans but now I know what the place tastes like. Barbecued Oysters!! Incredibly tasty. Shrimp etoufee: very creamy and tasty Mardi Gras Pasta: excellent and very filling Shrimp Jambalaya: my favorite. It had all the spices and flavor. t The decor and seating are what is not so great about the place. They have an adjacent room for parties and a long bar near where you sit for dinner. It is dark, outdated, and has nothing to do with New Orleans. It is a nightclub decor, and not a place to bring your kids. That could be hundreds more customers. Roux needs to decide, are we a nigh club or are we a restaurant? The kitchen gets five stars and could be a lot busier if the front of the house we a more family friendly place to visit. We had to wait five minutes for anyone to notice us when we arrived since there has a long line of people who wanted to go to the bar from the party next door. I had to break the line, go to the kitchen and ask for some help. There was no hostess, no waiter noticed us, no one to help us. A good place that could be so much better. read more

Accepts reservations, had cheerful staff, displayed festive decor for the holidays, and served a nice variety of comforting seafood/Cajun/fusion meals. It was very quiet when we got there right at opening for dinner, and though it's a smaller restaurant, it didn't feel cramped. Parking is in a shared lot within the plaza. Fried Calamari: 2/5. They had a strange sweet seasoning and were served with a thin green sauce that was also sweet. I didn't really like them and wouldn't get them again. Clam Chowder (small size): 5/5. Deliciously savory and creamy, entire family liked it. Definitely a must-try! Mardi Gras Pasta level 3/10 spicy: 4/5. I liked the variety of proteins in the sea of fettucine. The sauce was slightly sweet with a hint of spiciness, though I wished it had a bit more salt. Cajun Garlic Noodles with Lobster and Shrimp: 4/5. Lobster tail was peeled and served on top of the shell as a garnish to the noodles. Very garlicky, strongly flavored sauce. Jambalaya level 7/10 spicy: 3/5. Seemed a bit dry and not decently spicy for jambalaya (there wasn't a gumbo-like broth present in the pan). The rice did taste seasoned but surprisingly plain for what should be flavorful and spicy. Catfish Platter: 4/5. Chunky filets of fish with a crispy breading and served with shoestring fries, a classic. Seafood Boils, including peeled shrimp level spicy and mussels level medium: 5/5. The food blew me away! I lived in southeast Louisiana for 15 years. Not that I'm some Cajun food critic, but I've often been let down by any Cajun food outside of that area. I was really impressed with the food. We ordered char broiled oysters which were very good. Fried shrimp po-boy for me and I loved it. That's comfort food for me. My wife got the seafood gumbo which was excellent and we also shared the garlic noodles with sausage and shrimp which blew me away. Then we finished it off with an order of beignets that would rival cafe du monde. I would highly recommend this place and we will absolutely be visiting Roux again. read more

They just have the license and will charge corkage fee in a couple weeks. Right now as of 10/02/23 it is free of charge.

Hi Kristine, for our gluten free options we do offer bbq ribs, our steak selections, and our house apple salad. We also are able to make any of our fish selections gluten free(catfish, tilapia, Chilean sea bass, and salmon).
