Extremely rude and unprofessional. I had scheduled a "howdy-do" day for my one-year-old pup after speaking to someone on the phone about my concerns that she hadn't been around a ton of other dogs, and I had asked if there was anything I should do first to warm her up. The lady on the phone was nice enough and assured me that my pup would be fine and that they would let her get used to her environment and introduce dogs one at a time until the new pup is comfortable. This is also what is clearly stated on the website, see quote below: "What happens at a Howdy-Do Day? Dogs are introduced slowly to the play area with a few regular day play dogs that we count on for good behavior. Most dogs are nervous at first, unless they are puppies or have been to day play before. We allow them to smell and explore the play area, both inside and out. Once comfortable, we introduce one dog at a time waiting until the new dog is comfortable until the entire pack" I logged into the app to watch the live camera as soon as I got home from dropping her off, no more than 10 minutes later, and she was cowering in the corner of a room filled with at least 8 dogs. I knew my pup would be nervous and take some time to get acclimated to the new environment, but again, I had been assured that she would be introduced slowly and cared for. This already made me nervous, but I tried to let her have some time to get used to it. After about an hour of her sitting in the same spot, being humped and harassed by one dog in particular, and all but ignored by the staff, I decided I wanted to bring her home. It is possible that I was overreacting, which I will own, as I am new to all of this - but I also felt like I had been misled and was just nervous and wanted her home. When I picked her up, I explained that I didn't like that nothing was being done about the humping and that I had been misinformed about how the howdy-do day worked. She said "no, we don't introduce them one at a time, we just like them to be the first ones here on their first day so that the dogs can be brought in as they are dropped off." Again, see the quote from the website, but I just said "Okay, well that isn't what I was told on the phone." The other lady (who I am pretty sure was the owner!) who brought my dog out to me was the main reason I am writing this review. Absolutely unbelievably rude. My mom and I tried to express our concerns and explain why we were picking her up early (at this point we hadn't even ruled out trying again on a different day) and she extremely rudely said "Well, you just don't know anything about this." told me the dog humping her while she cowered in the corner was just "playing," etc. We continued to try to express our concerns and she just said, "You do not know what you're talking about at all, so just take your crazy dog and go." and stormed out of the room. My mom and I were so shocked! I was basically speechless. First of all, MY dog is crazy? For being nervous and literally sitting in one spot the whole time she was there? Okay.... But also, just shocked by how unbelievably unprofessional and immature this lady was! A client can't express a concern without you lashing out and storming off? If she had been able to have a professional conversation with us and help explain some of the stuff that we obviously "don't understand," I probably would have come back, but now I am absolutely horrified by how spiteful and rude this lady was to us! read more

I was a long time customer until my dog came home with an open clipper wound on her chest. I was not notified she had been hurt. I understand accidents happen. The owner brought my pet out without inspecting her under carriage. I feel they are untrustworthy and unprofessional. I have changed groomers. Not risking my dogs care again. I do not recommend them. She had a clipper burn and laceration. Kansas does not require certification for groomers. Be careful who you trust with your pet. read more

I can't say enough. Let me begin with almost 5 months ago from a fire at our house roverwood took in my 3 dogs. They have treated my dogs like family and they care about their dogs like they are their own. The staff are all wonderful, passionate, very attentive and overall outstanding people. Honestly, I'm over protective if my 3.4lb Yorkie Stoli... She's my daughter and so very spoiled! So for me to say I couldn't be happier with her grooming experience, well that's a huge compliment! I keep her hair very long so any mistakes show if they are not careful. I took Stoli in for a trial run to see the atmosphere, cleanliness, staff demeanor, grooming experience,etc. Helloooooo Flying colors!! Price is well worth it. I was able to drop off and pick up at "my" convenience. Location is easy to get to but away from high traffic. After touring the "suites" (they are nice size and NOT cages or stacked on top of one another) they have for boarding and seeing the play areas I booked her stay for an upcoming weekend... I'm loving that I can take her bed, food, treats, etc for her to be comfortable while she's there. Ahhhhh... This puppy mommy feels pretty darn good about her little ones accommodations. Almost as nice as mine will be on vaca!?! Haha Get in there and see what all the fuss is about!!!!! read more

I cannot say enough good things about the entire staff at Roverwood Ranch! We took our two boxers there weekly for daycare and used them frequently for boarding and were always so impressed! The staff is friendly and professional and really love your dog like their own. We have used many doggy daycares and boarding facilities in the past and Roverwood is by far the best! The dogs have an indoor and outdoor area to play and all dogs are separated by temperament. Your dogs will also get a little "nap time" where they are taken to an area to rest for an hour or two in the middle of the day which is something I really appreciated! There are also cameras so you can check on your dog throughout the day. We will miss Roverwood a lot and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a fun and safe place to bring your dogs. read more

The staff at Roverwood are wonderful! They were able to take my pooch on short notice and took wonderful care of her (she is senior and on several medications). They also were very attentive to her needs and made sure she played with the smaller dogs. The facility is easy to find and very clean. Everyone was friendly and courteous. Sharon did a great job giving Daisy a bath and grooming her. I would definitely recommend Roverwood to anyone who needs to board their dog or wants to take them daycare. I have a hard time letting anyone take care of my dogs, but I was totally comfortable leaving Daisy there. read more

I'm very hesitant to use kennels because my dog has come home from other kennels (not Roverwood) looking overwhelmed, depressed and dirty. This was my first time using Roverwood and it was a great experience. My dog came home happy and clean and I could tell he had a good experience. The staff obviously care about the animals and it was evident that my dog felt comfortable there. The center is clean. When I dropped him off they let me walk in the back where the animals were and they all looked content. I definitely recommend this boarding center. read more

Great place to leave your dogs. Safe and healthy environment. You can even get to take a look at your pets with the camera system they have installed. Our two dogs probably stayed there about 20-30 days over the year that we were there and never had any issues. I think they give 10% military discount. Although you may pay a couple bucks more than other places, its much better than any of the the other local places. read more

Doesn't get any better!! Staff was so professional and friendly. They were very accommodating for my one month stay in Leavenworth. Place was clean. NO bad smells. My dog, Xena, is a bit timid around other dogs and never really played with other dogs. But by week three, she was playing with other dogs, Wow. For her to do that at age 6, the staff had to know what they were doing when handling dogs. By the end of her stay, when we would arrive in the morning, Xena would push the gate with her nose to get in the back. I guess that's Xena's endorsement of Roverwood Ranch!! THANK YOU !!! read more

I would not recommend boarding your dog at this facility. My dogs had a scheduled meet and greet prior to boarding them. I was told they would be fine to board. They were 10 month old lab mix pups. I was told the facility only allows Nyla bones as everything else is considered a choke hazard. I brought treats and Nyla bones when I dropped them off. Upon my return in 10 days, I was met at the desk by the owner, Sharon Higley. She was either having a bad day or needs to consider getting a different occupation. She essentially attacked me by listing all the things the pups did wrong. She said "They chewed up my dog bed, tore up a blanket, tore up a roll of paper towels, ate 3 balls, and ate an IPod". In addition, she said they wouldn't use the K9 grass and "I lost money on this deal". First, she knew they were puppies and puppies chew things( i.e. Plastic pipe beds, blankets, paper towels) . I'm not sure why they were given balls that could be chewed up considering they are a choke hazard. In addition, I ,along with everyone I have told about this horrible experience with boarding my pets, question WHY an IPod was within reach of dogs that stand at least 5 feet on their hind legs. Why this was placed in an area that they could reach was very poor planning on her part. Finally, Sharon continued with "They pooped and peed in their enclosure". The dogs had been trained at home and could stay inside up to 10 hours without a problem before the boarding experience. Upon arrival home, we had to retrain them again. Apparently, they were housed for lengthy periods and the stress of the situation resulted in this behavior. In the future I would recommend you think about what you are saying to a paying customer ($650) before lashing out. read more

We took my sister's 1 year old goldendoodle to Roverwood for 5 nights/4 days during her destination wedding. When we dropped him off, the employees were so nice and very good with him, so we felt comfortable leaving him. We really enjoyed being able to watch him play on their webcams. The employees at Roverwood come back in the late evening after they are closed to let the overnight dogs out to play and potty before bed, which 9 out of 10 boarding places do not do (at other places, the dogs can be left in their individual kennels/rooms for 12 hours or more at a time. That's unacceptable!). We love that they have small individual rooms for each dog rather than kennels. They even gave him a bath before we picked him up, and it was obvious he had fun there and was well cared for, plus the cost of his stay was very reasonable! If we ever need to board him in KC again (he lives in Dallas!) We will definitely be taking him back to Roverwood. read more

We only used the grooming services, but we have nothing but good things to say about Roverwood. Everyone was very nice to us as well as our dog, and the facility is very clean and modern. We had a 9:00 appointment and our dog was through with his appoointment by 10, so they are really quick, and he turned out beautifully. They have many options to choose from for grooming, so you can get just what you need. We were given a tour of the facility, and I would not hesitate to use them for boarding or daycare when needed. read more
