I had an odd problem with in home network Steve Rottman had installed about 3 years ago. I called him for help and he spent at least 2 hours walking me through troubleshooting. We finally discovered an oddity about the way my Frontier provided router was functioning and Steve figured out how to fix it without my having to call Frontier. And then he refused to charge me. First of all, this review is sort of an apology to Steve. I meant to call or text him back to let him know he helped me solve my problem, but never got around to it. He kindly followed up to make sure I was all good after our first chat, which was lovely. Basically, Steve helped me troubleshoot my own problem for free because he felt like I would be able to fix my own issue. I could not for the life of me figure out how to set up my home office dual monitor from a MacBook Pro. He turned out to be right, and I would totally pay him $50 just for the remote guidance alone. Best IT service and help I have ever received! Had an last minute emergency dual monitor computer set up issue on a Sunday and called Steve after finding him online. With no appointment he called back very quickly. Steve sat on the phone with me while I described all the parts I had and the history of the computers etc very patiently. He walked me through testing out what worked, what didn't, and trouble shooting to figure out what I needed and set up a call later for further help. I am so thrilled to have contacted Steve, the owner of Roving Technology! My experience working with him was not 5 - it was 10‼ I am admittedly a low tech gal. My Mac told me I needed a new battery. After a fraudulent experience with PC Mall in Santa Monica (now deservedly closed long before COVID), I am uncomfortable dealing with tech issues. I found Roving Technology on Yelp, called and left a VM. Before I finished reading all his 5 reviews, he returned my call! How's that for fast & great customer service? This type of attention is unheard of in 2020. But there's so much more to Roving Technology's standard operating procedures which go way beyond any other business. Steve has more compassion than my doctor! Although he, personally, could not replace my battery because even Apple no longer stocks batteries from 2008. But Steve did not stop there, after confirming my Serial Number. He offered to spend the time checking around for me to find someone I can trust and who has the extinct battery, at a very reasonable price & delivery service. Meanwhile my search on Yelp triggered a massive storm of businesses telling me they could replace my battery, before they even knew the Serial Number. They offered unbelievably low prices. But I was skeptical and read your Yelper reviews. The people were not businesses I could trust based on my fellow Yelpers. But Steve called me back again, very quickly. Apparently he took the time to review the specs for my MacBook Air laptop, circa 2008. He discussed with me the valid reasons why I might not want to spend the money for the battery replacement. He took the time and care to explain the operating system problems which would exist and needing to take additional steps necessary for our new Zoom World. Then he called me back today with a very cost effective solution and vetted the business for me. He charged $0, ZERO for all his time and trouble. As all the other reviews accurately state - Steve is amazing. He loves what he does and it shows in the way he supports those lucky enough to contact him. I called a few weeks back to get some advice and estimates on upgrading our network hardware. We are not a large enterprise by any means but do have roughly 50 devices connected to our network. Most would jump at the chance to sell equipment and services. Instead, Steve told me to take a step back and see if we could find another way to alleviate our network issues WITHOUT unnecessarily upgrading expensive equipment. He took no less than an hour of his own, unpaid time to learn about our business and thoroughly explain methods to test our network. To top it off, he ended up giving me a contact for someone who could better service our needs. All this to say that Steve is a rare breed. He is patient, knowledgeable, and honest.
