Dropped my laptop back in 2020 and busted it up pretty bad, never got around to having it fixed. Started to actually need to use it more regularly and decided the body was too unstable, so I sent in some photos, computer city repairs quoted me an estimate for the work, and I brought it in the same day. They replaced my hinges, fixed the placement of some of the parts that were out of place and keeping motherboard exposed, and created a fill for the parts that had broken off. Opens and shuts extremely smoothly, I almost forget how janky it was just a month ago. If I could 10 stars I would. Computer City Repairs has saved my laptop at least 5x!! I must have bad luck but they seriously saved my laptop from brinks of death many times. Once my trunk was not closed correctly and my laptop fell out and was run over by a car. Luckily, they were able to repair it. Whew, just when I thought my laptop was gone. Then, I had spilled water on it and they were able to save it. Then, I dropped my laptop and the hardshell got indented so that it would not power on.... All these times, they were very comuncative and turn around was fairly quick. I use my laptop for work so am always in a heart attack mode when something is wrong with my laptop. Found this spot through the Yelp Projects features and I'm so glad I went with them! Their prices were the most affordable and they were also the closest to my office in Sawtelle. Dropped my laptop off to get the charging port looked at as it had started failing me about a month ago before it finally decided to go. They quoted me about $40 less than everyone else and they were able to get the job done in less than a day! I dropped it off last night around 5:30p and got a call during lunch today that it would be ready soon. Beyond thrilled with the service. I was referred here after taking my macbook to Geek Squad at Best Buy. Last week, my laptop had randomly shut off and I was panicking, thinking I'd need to drop $2500 on a new one which was not in the budget right now. Had their tech Ivan out here for 2 hours and they were unable to fix my computer. I paid 300 for absolutely no resolution to my issue. It took him 2 hours to figure out that I needed a new video card. Doesn't seem like an issue that should have taken 2 hours to figure out. They charge 150 an hour so I know he was just trying to run the price up. He tried telling me more than halfway through that he could not figure it out and he would need to take it in his shop to figure out the issue so he would have all his tools and an extra monitor he would need to troubleshoot the problem I said I would rather have him bring all the tools necessary here which he said they can do but then after that he said he'd try working on it more and finally after two hours said it's an issue with the video card. Then after that proceeded to tell me there's nothing he can do to fix it. I asked what I should do going forward he told me he wasn't sure if they could order a new video card for me or if I would have to source one and buy it myself he said he has to talk to his boss first. Wish I went to a different repair center for this issue because I shelled out 300 to still have a broken computer and no clear helpful steps to a resolution going forward. Didn't even tell me what kind of video card I needed until I asked directly for him to write it down. read more
