Dan was great to work with. Not only is he local to my neighborhood (so I could walk to his house) but he's analytical and very detailed. He specializes in Windows products - of which I'm not terribly savvy with since I'm a Mac user. The computer he reconfigured was a former company's "Think Pad" which he completely wiped out for me to have for casual use. This computer is now running smoothly. He also asked questions as we went along as to what apps I want to have brought onto the laptop including MS Office. He also confirmed the amount of memory on the machine so I could eventually do video editing on the device. The cost was also cheap for this type of reconfiguration. I would think for the work completed it would cost a lot more at other local retailers. Just know he takes Venmo or Zelle, so make sure to have your accounts ready to go (no debit cards) before going onsite. read more

Dan, the owner of this computer repair business is a Saint! On Valentines Day afternoon no less, I had a 5-alarm laptop emergency when Windows 10 crashed and would not boot up no matter what I would do! My very critical and confidential data was not backed up! I have never had this type of problem with a computer before and I have been working with computers since Cobol IBM card compiler systems. I owned one of the first Windows 95 laptops in the day very few people owned a laptop, let alone a computer. Worse, the electronic address of this laptop has security clearance so I cannot just borrow a laptop--only that laptop will get me into the database to work and it would take 7-10 days to get clearance on another one and a lot of explaining. So what do you do in this situation? I immediately went on YELP and searched, "Immediate Laptop Repair." I called Dan and he actually answered the phone on Sunday Valentine's Day 4 pm! I told him what the problem was and he said, "Come on over." I responded: "What?!, come on over where on a Sunday evening? You are in your shop? You have time on Valentine's Day to deal with this? Is this going to create problems with your significant other?" Dan replied, "don't worry about it now--just come over to my house--you have an emergency." I raced on over to Dan's house with light's and siren blaring. He got right on it while I was there watching. Unfortunately, the HDD drive was corrupted his diagnostics determined. Dan was going to need to do emergency surgery on the Hard Drive, but he wanted to get into the drive and backup all my valuable and confidential data first just in case. He offered to back it up to a drive he had on hand, but I could not allow that with this data so he had me run out to Best Buy just 2 miles from his place and he gave me the name of a 1 TB drive to buy that I will now own and do regular backups on. When I got back from Best Buy with the 1TB back-up drive he went to work again on the computer at 7 PM on Valentine's Day. I left him with the Laptop at 7.30 pm and raced to my own Valentine's Day dinner before I would need my head backed up. He called me at 11.30 pm to let me know that he successfully located and saved my data on the 1 TB backup drive (I was so relieved!) but that he is going to need more time to repair the laptop drive, if it can be repaired, and reinstall the data. He texted me at 2:45 am to give me a list of data recovered and make sure that I was not missing any other data. He called me late Monday morning to give me a status report and again in the afternoon to let me know that it was fixed and ready for pickup. He transferred all my data back onto the Laptop and gave me the 1 TB backup drive back still containing my data just in case. The laptop has been working fine for the week afterwards, and in fact Outlook is not buggy anymore (It used to not display some of my appointments at random--Microsoft looked at it a few months ago and could not figure out a solution.) I also took this opportunity to clean up the cluttered Desktop. Dan gave me some helpful suggestions for backing up the computer as well as purchasing a new one if I was so inclined. His charges for this service were reasonable and I would return to him if I had more computer problems or if I wanted to replace a drive or upgrade a computer or reinstall software. He told me that he also builds computers but does not work on Apple computers. Dan is a non-smoker and has a pleasant welcoming personality and was able to stay calm and focused dealing with a stressed-out, aggravated client (me). He called me with status reports exactly when he said he would. I really appreciated that level of responsibility you don't see very often in other businesses.
