I came here all the way out from the northeastern part of the SFV in hopes of a pretty niche repair for a PS3 I won from an auction, and right off the bat, one of the two gentlemen in the shop knew the error code right off the top of his head! And right then and there, I knew I had to get my PS3 repaired from these guys, and it was for a pretty niche repair. It was to fix the wifi/bt module, which ultimately got replaced, with, in my opinion, a quick turnaround of two weeks. You're sitting there staring at this game thinking this is the coolest thing you've ever seen. That feeling is exactly what this place brings back. I came in looking for a PS2 for my boyfriend's birthday and, honestly, I know almost nothing about video games. I was a little intimidated, but these guys were great. They knew their stuff, explained everything, and actually cared about helping me find the right thing instead of just making a sale. I had my 8-month-old with me, and they were super welcoming. I've been aware of this store for essentially half of my life at this point, and been in periodically to check out the selection of modern and retro games as well as various accessories. However, I recently, by my own idiocy, damaged my condenser microphone, detaching the usb port from the motherboard. Most places quoted me a price higher than I paid for the mic, but A&J quoted me an exceedingly fair price and fixed it to full working order. They are well known for their quality (and thus are busy) so it may take a week or more, but you can expect honesty, quality work, and reasonable prices that make it all worth it. Go patronize this store not just for your current and past video game and collectible needs, but also for any repairs or other servicing needs you may encounter for hardware. First off, this is not a review by a customer of A&J games, but the girlfriend of a customer of A&J games (no affiliation to Girlfriend Reviews.. just a fan!) I am an amateur gamer, I had Super Nintendo, N64 and PS3 as a kid, but I'm by no means an expert in all things retro gaming. That's where my boyfriend comes in. He LOVES retro games and gaming systems, so when he discovered the top screen was cracked on his Nintendo DS we went on a mission to have it repaired. A&J Games is like a Time Machine to the past, filled with Atari games, game boy, old consoles I didn't recognize, and so much more. If you're looking for something in retro gaming, they probably have one (or know how to get it). The store is PACKED with merchandise. It was extremely cluttered, which would stress me out if I were at home, but added to the charm and whimsy of the store. The two employees we encountered were helpful and full of knowledge on how to repair the broken DS and anything else you wanted to ask them. Prices seemed a little steep, they quoted us $100 to repair the DS screen. I don't doubt that the parts and labor are worth close to that, however, we could find DS's for sale on eBay for $85. TLDR: quirky, cluttered store filled with hidden gems. Definitely check it out if you're on the hunt for something in the retro gaming world. read more

I brought in a Halo Special Edition Xbox to be repaired so that I could sell it. They charged me $100 and confirmed it was working. I sold it, the person who bought it said it wasn't reading discs and since he lives close to the store he brought it in and they apparently fixed it again. It still didn't work so I ended up having to refund and take the return. I brought it back in to see if I could get some kind of refund or credit since I now had to list it for parts, and I was told the warranty is expired and he would give me $50 for it. So essentially, I would be paying him to give him my Xbox. read more

This place is one of the only quality game console repair shops in LA County. It's a little on the pricey side, depending on the repair, but you pay for expertise and good work. They fixed my Xbox Series X up perfectly after it had kind of a strange problem. I also appreciated that they said they wouldn't charge me a diagnostics fee if there was a problem that they couldn't fix. It also took them a weekend to fix it, which all things considered is not much time at all. They said they could do it in a weekend and indeed it was done in a weekend. Also a note for any potential customers that the tech who fixes consoles only comes in on weekends and some Mondays, so I'm to understand (just so you can plan accordingly). Only reason it got a 4 star vs 5 star review is because the brick and mortar shop itself is extremely cluttered. Other than that, anytime my Xbox is having any issues, they are going to be my first stop. I highly recommend this shop for console gamers who need console repairs that don't want to pay Geek Squad prices and want to support a local business. read more

I needed both sets of vibrator rumbles soldered back to my PS3 controller's circuit board, this was done in 5 minutes. I went back another time for a repair on my N64's reset button and help removing a stripped screw from an SNES controller. I was able to pick up the following day. My PS5 was overheating so I brought it in to A&J on Sunday. They had it back to me Monday afternoon. When I took it home I had the same issue so I called them back about it. This is my favorite game store in the area, not only for their inventory which has a lot more interesting items than others I've seen, but they also have great service. The people are very friendly and easy to talk to for game recommendations, helping you test your console or games, and repair services. I had a sega CD model 1 that was having audio issues and a non working disc drive. The store was able to recap the console, fix the disc drive and repair the sound chip so that my console works great. With the new capacitors added I have less worry about it breaking while playing it. read more

I think the one-star reviews called A&J a dump are ridiculous. I love this store. I feel like I'm in a time capsule when I go there and the smell of all the old plastic consoles and game cases is nostalgic. The store may look unorganized but the owner keeps organized records and knows everything that's in that store. There are boxes of random games that are fun to go through if they don't have the exact title you're looking for on the shelves. The owner Gary is really nice and easy to work with. If you don't like the price they offer, you could try asking them to lower it or just go somewhere else, but don't write an angry review.
