I have been wanting to stop here for a sandwich for a long time, and today I finally had the chance while I was in Los Molinos. I love a good hot pastrami sandwich, so I ordered one on a sourdough roll. I also got a small potato salad and macaroni salad to try. While we were waiting for the sandwich to be made, they brought us a complimentary deviled egg, which was a very nice surprise and absolutely delicious. The sandwich was excellent. The vegetables were sliced nice and thin, the flavors blended together perfectly, and the pastrami was flavorful without having all the excess fat that some pastrami can have. The potato salad was delicious--just like homemade. I'm not a fan of sweet macaroni salad, and unfortunately this one was a little too sweet for my taste. That's just a personal preference, so next time I'll stick with the potato salad instead. I will definitely be stopping here again and look forward to trying more of the menu. Absolutely worth the stop! Friendly counter service with a sandwich for everyone on fresh baked rolls AND BBQ by the lb. to take for later! (Brisket, pulled pork and ribs.) We had and strongly recommend the Philly steak sandwich...delicious with peppers and onions. Flavor and meat/cheese/veggie ratio was spot-on. We've driven through Los Molinos many times, today we stopped at Roxie's deli and BBQ. Definitely one of the best meals we have had north of Chico. As you enter the store/restaurant you're greeted by the owner or possibly one of the owners. This family run business was started in SF then Sacramento and Now here. I ate the TriTip plate, potato salad and Ravioli. Husband ate a Hot pastrami Pepper jack cheese sandwich - reg size as the supreme size was quite large. Daughter ate brisket sandwich (hot). Bread is baked in house - Delicious. All meats BBQ'd onsite as well. We will absolutely return. read more

I'm giving them four stars because they are very thoughtful. I had my partner order a sandwich for me on her way home from Chico. I said make sure to have it put on bread and not a roll. When I opened the bag the sandwich was on a roll. So I called them and learned that they do not carry sliced bread only french rolls. I explained the situation to them and they said I could come by and talk with the manager. Anyway, I used to order sandwiches on sliced bread all the time when I lived only a few blocks from them in San Francisco. Always a great sandwich. So sadly we will not be able to order from them locally. And I still feel that when my partner said on bread and not a roll that they should have told her they only had rolls. read more

My son and I stopped in and at Roxie's on our way back from Chico. This is my first time at Roxie's but my son had been there once prior to their reopening. They have been reopening now for 3 month. Although they have a large menu, I was able to customize my order. 1 Hot Pastrami, 1 Turkey Club, and 1 SalamI. We also got a macaroni salad. The sandwiches were huge and everything was delicious. We got ours to go but they're seating inside and out. It was clean and cool inside. We tried a deviled egg sample while we waited and that was very good. I drive past Roxie's quite often on my way to Chico and always wanted to stop and try it out. One day I finally did. The employees were friendly and the service was good. The food wasn't great but it was worth eating again. When you walk in the door you can smell the smoked meat and BBQ sauce. The prices are fair too. I had a tri-tip sandwich which was good. The meat was nice and tender and the bread was fresh. The flavor was good but wasn't "mouth watering". I have heard that the brisket is really good so I hope to try that one day. I really wish that Yelp had a 1/2 star rating system because Roxie's is better than a 3 star rating, but in my opinion it's not quite a 4 star in the one experience I had there. read more

We were able to make it back to Roxie's on our way home. It was a Monday so we had the Tri Tip. These folks know how to BBQ, it was excellent. The meat was moist, tender and flavorful. I had mine with pepperjack cheese, jalapenos and horseradish, yum! If you are anywhere near this place you should drive the extra miles for a great sandwich. I see they also have breakfast sandwiches. They should consider offering a lunch plate for people that don't want the bread. They have the sides available. read more

I've never been a fan of BBQ sauce, it's just not my thing to have sweet sauces or foods. I prefer that for dessert. Regardless, I've been to this place over a half dozen times and I believe a review is in order. They have a very good Tri tip that has always satisfied. Tender and bite able with a wonderful taste that I prefer to eat without their sauce on my sandwich. They have bread options that meet anyone's needs and the addition to onion and tomato to the sandwich really makes it delicious and filling. Potato Salad is very good likewise. The ribs are meat falling off the bone delicious. Now as far as the BBQ sauce, it is tasty and I do order it on the side to compliment the meat. This is a great BBQ option for anybody cruising on Hwy 99 between Chico and Red Bluff. You should give it a chance. read more

After driving by this place a few times I finally gave it a try today and let me tell you what a big disappointment the girl at the register seemed annoyed while I was looking at the menu to try and figure out what I wanted so I just ordered a roast beef and turkey sandwich cold on a sweet French roll and what I received was a total f****** joke a sandwich with very little meat and a roll that was burnt to a crisp for very disappointed definitely will not be coming back here I don't know how you guys could give them such good reviews you obviously haven't been out of the area to have a real sandwich read more

Let me start out with saying that I wish there was a 3.5 star rating. Roxie's has recently opened and seems to have a split personality. Deli and Smokehouse BBQ. While Deli comes first in the name it has a look and smell of a smokehouse BBQ - BUT THERE ARE SOME SHORTCOMINGS! There is a large smoker (trailer mounted) outside. So this shortcoming is quite surprising. They have Tri Tip, Ribs, Brisket and Pulled Pork from the smoker - BUT - ONLY 1 A DAY so Monday and Friday is Tri Tip, Tuesday and Saturday are the Rib Days, Wednesday is Pulled Pork (technically chopped pork when I was there) and Thursday is the Brisket day. Now this smoker is plenty large enough to cook more than one type of meat at a time so I don't understand the limitation. More of the split personality of this business, they have side dishes available. However the BBQ beans a BBQ staple is only available on Rib days. The normal sides are Potato salad, Mac salad, deviled eggs, coleslaw, pesto pasta and ravioli. Which means that if you visit on a Wednesday (like I did) you can have a pulled pork (chopped) sandwich with a side of ravioli ??? Enough with the shortcomings. The pulled chopped pork was actually very good, there wasn't as much of it on the sandwich as I expected there would be (a little lite), but in their defense I ordered the regular sandwich - $5.99. When I go back I'll order the Super sandwich - $9.99. There is a regular sweet BBQ sauce and a "fire sauce". I had the fire sauce I don't think most BBQ eaters need to worry about it being too spicy. The other meats for the deli sandwiches are Turkey, smoked turkey, chicken breast, roast beef, salami, crab meat, pastrami, bologna, tuna salad, ham, mortadela, smoked ham, meatball and meatloaf. Same prices $5.99 and $9.99, $.75extra for avocado and $.25 for each bacon added to sandwich. Will I go back? - yes if I'm passing through on brisket or rib days and give a second try. Fountain drinks are large $1.75, medium $1.50 and small $1.25 with a discounted charge for refills. There were several choices for the bread and we both ordered and loved the dutch crunch bread. read more

Full Review: Roxie's Deli & BBQ is a disappointment I'm afraid. There is no real dining area other than outside in the wind and with traffic whizzing by a mere 8 feet from your table. To add insult to injury, the tables were rust and covered with a gritty sand I am certain comes from the road. They have set up a few tables inside in an area roughly the size of my post office lobby. It is very cramped and forces customers to crawl over top of each other to get to the soda fridge. The cashier was curt and impatient as we attempt to discern the menu. We ordered 2 tri tip sandwiches, no drinks and paid nearly $20. Surprisingly, the sandwiches didn't come with any chips or sides for that either. The bread was great, tri tip was tender but not plentiful, but the BBQ was really lack luster. Seriously expected a bit of a kick but it was very plain and disappointing. To be fair, I am comparing Roxie's against Smoked BBQ in Redding who's tri tip sandwiches are out of this world! In the end, there was nothing endearing about our experience. My suggestion is that you continue on down the road. There's got to be a BBQ place in Chico that doesn't sit you on the side of a busy road. The 'dining' area (in quotes because there really isn't a dining area) is handicap accessible but only outside. read more
