Great show with Karla Burns in Hi-Hat Hattie. Karla and pianist Huron Breaux presented Hattie McDaniel's story through her songs that entertained the world. The heartfelt story of Hattie's life interwove through the struggles of the times. Totally enjoyed hearing and seeing Karla bring Hattie McDaniel to us. Both the singer and musician enjoyed presenting this incredible story. It showed. Excellent. The food tasted surprisingly good. I would gladly eat at Roxy's again. Fun night!

1st Tuesday Talk with Creative Rush. Roxy's is a great venue for this!

Roxy's is a really cool performance space. Even though it is located downtown right on Douglas, it is still fairly hidden. When you climb the stairs you enter a whole new world. A classic looking theater type space with comfortable tiered seating makes it so there isn't a bad seat in the house. I've attended comedy shows, informational talks, and live theater performances here and they were all wonderful. There is also a full bar to satisfy all of your alcohol needs.

The 9oz cup wasn't even full and they charged $4 for this.

We have been for several years, and I can't believe I haven't posted a review until now. The wait staff is amazing. They are always so attentive. We have the meal option before the show, which is hard to beat, especially in the old town district of Wichita on a Friday or Saturday night. Let alone the Sunday brunch. The shows tend to vary, some are great, some are OK, but we always have fun. We've gotten to know some of the cast, albeit they have never met us. We have our favorites, Kyle, Scott, Julia, Sarah. Dacia is amazing! It's never a bad day. If you're looking for some entertainment and a night out on the town, this is the place to go. Parking across the street is convenient, and I'm not kidding, the wait staff is great. They take care of you through the whole show. Very reasonably priced for what you receive. I can't recommend enough.

The sets were well done and full of character. The whole performance had us smiling. It was a great take on the now classic movie. The theatre seating is intimate, I can't say there's a bad seat in the house. The concessions were tasty and affordable. The seats themselves are not incredibly comfortable but there was plenty of legroom. My one note of caution is that the theatre is in the middle of an area very heavy populated by the homeless community. Overall, a great experience and a wonderful display of local theatre!

Highest recommendation for Forum Theatre, Wichita. Their…read moreproduction of Titanic was, I have to say, EPIC. I don't use that word lightly. Large cast, nearly 30, costumes incredible from 1st class, long ball gowns & tiaras, 2nd class, the wanna-be's wearing their cheaper finery, and 3rd class hopefuls, traveling with nothing but hopes & dreams for a future. The Titanic staff & crew equally perfectly attired, (ie.number of brass buttons on captains jacket). Stage set, huge open stairways leading to upper decks, to lowest engine room where the stoker "shoveled" coal into red-glowing lighted, really smoking, fire pits. Amazing! But it is the singing and yes dancing, but the voices which carried the story, each word of song perfectly understood. We met the characters, true to real life, and hoped & dreamed with them, learned to love and hate some, as the true details played out. The Tony award winning score made us laugh, then wish for a different ending. We hoped for each, as we listened & watched. We cried for the strength & courage of these men & women, and cheered through tears after the final song. Bravo Forum! Can't wait for your November 5 2022 show, Words & Music of Diana Ross.

The seating is armless banquet chairs packed as tight as possible. It's like being trapped in the center section of a 747. I'd have given one star but there are three rows with decent views. And bring earplugs. Even comedy shows are too loud.

As for what to say about the dinner, (I use that term loosely) my mother told me if I didn't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all! Well...I don't listen to my mother. First, the buffet was served to you only after standing in a line that wrapped around the theater like you were standing in line in a prison or a sad cafeteria, except the food and service at the Crown was worse. The "meal" started with some over cooked mystery meat and a dried up piece of chicken meat (not sure what part of the chicken it was) some mushy vegetables that had the piss cooked out of them, some mashed potatoes that tasted like paste, a cold roll w/cold butter and a salad, no wait...it was just lettuce. To top it all off...it was served on a paper plate. And not one of the the "good" paper plates, one of the plates that can't hold much food without collapsing. But that's ok, because the serving was minimal at best. We only were able to eat part of the "food" and ended up throwing it out in the convenient trash cans spread out around the theater. The show was fantastic and we really enjoyed the performances. The talent of the singing and dancing was very impressive. While we sat in the front row, there didn't appear to be a bad seat in the house. Well, except for the seats on the far left side of the theater, where everyone stands in line to get the incredibly bad meal. If you have seat in this section you will have people standing all around you before the show starts. The bar was quick and attentive with the ability to order from your seat before the show starts and at intermission. They should have more of the food listed on the menu available, but then people would forgo the "dinner". Believe me a frozen pizza, a pretzel or some popcorn from the bar would have been better. My advice to Max Wilson and the other leadership of the theater, you have a GREAT group of performers, shows, venue and volunteers, but you MUST find a better caterer! If you need to, charge a little more and improve the dinning experience that's ok. It would be worth it to complete the experience. That all said, we will be back to see a show, maybe even Elvis in January, but it won't be for dinner. 5 stars for the performances and performers, but 0 stars for the food!

I should have checked the Want Bierock Company's Yelp page prior to visiting on our last trip to…read moreWichita. I'd been craving good Volga German bierocks for some time. (I used to live in Wichita back in the Eighties, and learned to love bierocks during that time.) Well, shiver me timbers and call me Petunia, honey, but I sure as git-out didn't go into Want Bierock Company to be pummeled with loud "Christian" music and a plethora of self righteous placards urging my conversion. To quote fellow Yelper Mindless M.'s review, "Well, the new owners change it for the worst it's now a Christian coffee shop ('cause we don't have enough of that in Kansas...) and they made it really bad where it feels like they're shoving Christianity in your face they changed the decorations to Christian stuff and constantly play Christian music no one wants to be there even if they liked the coffee because everyone who comes in there feels so much tension from staff" The front door had a sign encouraging us to take off our masks (!!!) even as COVID-19 numbers surged in Sedgwick County, and the reading materials placed out among the pieces of used furniture inside the restaurant (no joke!) were all far right wing conspiracy rags. Here's the whole megillah: I don't want to eat in Muslim restaurants that has Islamic prayers and chanting during my meal. (And yes, I've encountered that once, as well. How hard is it for some folks to leave personal religious crap out of business?) I also don't eat out to see and hear THIS kind of tommyrot. I go out to eat to enjoy my friends and their company, after all. I do NOT go out to eat to be proselytized, nor to be a captive audience for sectarian music, no matter its origin. Five stars for the bierocks we got. (They were hot and filling and tasty. Yum.) One star for the rest of the experience -- self righteous and ham-fisted proselytization efforts all included. Two Yelp stars across the board -- mostly for the sake of the bierocks. Please do better.
