I'm headed out on a 4-6 month road trip all over the USA, including the middle of nowhere, Alaska. My aging 4WD Chevy Tahoe was dropped off for a humongous inspection prior to departing on our long trek and these folks at Roy Metcalfe Automotive spent an entire day thoroughly inspecting every square inch of it. They alerted on several issues and called me immediately to share the findings and as always, I know the repairs will be taken care of, first time, period. Okay So my sister had a radiator leak, they replaced it for a more than reasonable price. My mom's power steering pump. They got that taken care of. My Wheel bearing, replaced for a good rate and no push to repair the unnecessary things. From my and my family's experience with this business, they don't BS you. (Skip to the next paragraph if you don't want a long story painfully detailing almost all the parts of my journey towards Roy Metcalfe) So, I went to the Mercedes dealership because my check engine light was on. I payed $185 for a diagnosis and they wanted to repair something for $568. I decided to call a bunch of places and they all refused to service my car, because Mercedes are a pain in the butt to work with, until I found this place. They accepted the challenge but believed what Mercedes said to replace was wrong and that it was another part completely. Me being naïve and trusting Mercedes' diagnostic, I asked them to replace it anyways. Low and behold Mercedes was wrong and I did service for the wrong part, which was only half the price of Mercedes' service by the way. They sat down with me and explained what they believed was wrong and why they thought it was wrong. They answered all my questions and were extremely patient with me. I agreed to do the service that they said was the problem in the first place. I'm glad to say that they were right and my car has been running like a beauty ever since. They even called me a few days after the service to make sure that everything was working well and that the check engine light wasn't coming back on. This is hands down the best experience I have ever had with car service. They are patient, kind, cheap and, most importantly, knowledgeable in what they are doing. They had much better customer service than Mercedes and that place is supposed to be one of the best Mercedes dealerships in the nation. I cannot recommend this place enough! Caution: Roy Metcalfe no longer owns this business!!! He should insist his name be pulled because the new owner is spoiling his reputation. This incident happened last month so the details aren't exact but: We recommended Metcalfe to our grown daughter who brought her '08 in for some simple repair, don't remember exactly what it was. Anyway, she got it back and the next day the cooling system goes out. It cost $1,000 to repair. Coincidence? Read on. We chalked that up to bad luck because this company had always done right by us. A few months ago I brought in my wife's '03 Camry because the engine light was on. They called me a few hours later and said the bill was $270. While doing nothing more than hooking the car up to the computer to clear the message, they charged me $80 for that. I had asked them to top off the transmission fluid and the bill said "transmission work" for something like $70. They also changed the windshield wipers, and 2 air filters. My justifiably irate wife insisted on seeing both filters and the wipers, none of which were in need of replacement since they had all been recently replaced, and she made them put the old ones back. It was only then that I thought to ask if Roy Metcalfe stil owned the place because Roy was a very honest fellow who never did work that wasn't necessary. I spent several years looking for an alternative to the Subaru dealer, and this place is it. It also happens to be only a few doors down from the dealership. The guys who work here are honest and don't try to push unnecessary services. They've done major as well as minor work on my car, and they always explain in detail what they've done and show me the parts they've replaced. Their prices are reasonable, and they know you by name after one or two visits. Highly recommended. read more

It's so nice to be able to call a place that knows who you are, and can promptly get you in to fix your issue. It's amazing to deal with a company that will not take your money unless they feel like it needs to be done. Who does that?! Having a car repair shop that is honest and only fixes what needs to be done is so great when you have no knowledge of what needs to be done to a car when it needs to be repaired. I have been a client @ Metcalfe Auto for years. and have owned several different types of cars and trucks too. The Owner / Head Mechanic Jeff is a Rock Star. An honest absolute straight shooter. No games, no up-sells = no unnecessary repairs.. No Bullshit !! Where other shops will just replace entire part systems that are still in perfect working order just to crank out the work, Jeff and his crew actually take the time to figure out what part of that system is the ACTUAL problem and replace only the failing part, therefore saving their customers $$$. They work on all cars and trucks .. any make or model... older , newer.. doesn't matter. Complete Engine replacements, brake jobs, wheel bearings, steering, suspension, fuel related, starter, alternator, all electrical issues, Jeff can diagnose and FIX it all. No job is too big or small. Personally, I recently relocated to the Phoenix area after living in Tucson for years, and just last week drove 270 miles on my day off round trip to get my Lexus worked on , and as always Jeff saved me time, aggravation and big $$$.. Well worth the trip. I will gladly make the trip every time i have an issue with any of my vehicles. My son is a U of A student living in Tucson, where as I live near Sierra Vista. So when I needed to find a repair shop, I asked a parts supplier who they recommended in Tucson. I have taken my son's car in twice for repairs. Both times what I believed to be the problem was not what was found. I was contacted and told what had been found and that the far more costly repair I anticipated was not the problem. Both time they repaired only what was needed to be repaired, where as they could have easily performed the anticipated extra repairs and I would have not known any difference. This honesty and professionalism is rare for this industry. Many have experienced, including myself, extra/ unnecessary repairs to vehicles to up the cost to the customer and increase the profit of a repair shop.
