At my first visit in 7/25 . Bought my daughter a used car that needed brakes . Took it there , close by the hs. After they ck the brakes an estimate was given that it needed all these things done to car . ? Ok Get it done , want my 17 to be safe in the car . On last wk 23 of Jan it was raining n she hit a pot hole n she made it hm , result was it was flat after she parked car . Called n made appt to take car of car tire . It was towed to garage. They had a tire for replacement n they balance the tire etc etc, They called me back say the car need all this wk done on the car $3,700? I was floored, u need this n that??? Well that's odd ? When it first came in u supposedly fixed what it needed brakes , rotor etc pads, alignment. Costing me 3,500 . Ok N now they quote me another 3,700 for repair n I told him . When I took my car 7/25 u fixed what was needed n 6 mo later u want to hit me w another 3,700??? Just change olí , filter n tire n alignment n a battery that he said it wasn't charging that good , $229 for battery??? 4 yrs . Ok pd $500 for repairs. Now I have an oil leak ???? When I took it in no oil leak ???? There was an older couple getting car estimates. Brakes, etc, oil change. N I heard what the total cost for their repairs N it came out to close to $6,000? I was shocked. These people are retired older people l then they offered them , oh u can get credit thru us n pay that off , they offered me same thing . For the past year, I've been running over screws, nails, etc. (It's the poor roads and unavoidable debris) requiring replacement of four tires on separate occasions the last one being here at this particular location the others at BRAKEmax on Valencia. Every time, they've ordered the tire for me then installed it without issue and had me on my way in no time. Many times these people don't get the credit they deserve, but they've saved me time, money, and aggravation by simply fixing the problem without any fuss. Been here twice now. First time to fix a starting problem which turned out to be replacing the battery cable. Today to recharge the AC and change the oil. Both times I felt comfortable. The guys are polite and friendly. I like the manager, Henry. I don't feel like they try to "take you." I used to do business with BrakeMax on 1st Ave, but I moved to the east side. They aren't cheap, but they aren't expensive, either. They charge the normal shop rates, But one difference is that they do coupons and that made the servicing cheaper, so kudos for that! 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Went there for an oil change and road trip inspection before I brought this car home to Texas. I truly expected to spend an arm and a leg on the service! To my surprise, we spent $45 and they even put my hub cap back on my tire for me!! I recommend this to anyone who wants quality service at a good price! I've tried multiple times to get a quote online, with no response from Brakemax. Yesterday I attempted one more time, giving them my car's VIN, thinking they just didn't have enough info (even though the VIN is listed as optional). No response. Tried calling the national toll free phone no. Was on hold for ~15min, before a human answered to tell me I was to be placed on hold. I responded by saying I'd shop elsewhere. read more

Breakmax On 07/17/23 we took our vehicle to breakmax to get an issue resolved regarding a minor oil leak. On 5/17 they did an oil change and documented a minor leak on the paperwork. On 6/1/23 we were verbally told that there was a minor leak potentially coming from the transmission, they would clean it up and inspect next oil change(not documented on paperwork). We decided to take it sooner as it felt necessary. On 07/16 we took our vehicle to get inspected and was told it was a vacuum pump issue (no diagnostic was ran to come to this conclusion) trusting they had done a diagnostic we agreed to get the part replaced. On 7/17 we took our vehicle for the schedule appt. Store manager Andre had no idea of appt or part that we were told. However he said he would look into it and took our vehicle. On 7/21 we received a call saying that they don't know what happened but that we needed to change the engine due to oil being found inside cylinder 3. When we asked for paperwork stating they had ran diagnostic prior to repair. They advised they had not ran any test and just replaced part. Total negligence and lack of communication from breakmax. Our vehicle is a 2019 with less than 70k miles! Prior to taking to breakmax we had no engine failure nor engine repair lights or any engine issues. Manager Andre handled the issue extremely unprofessional. Contacted his district manager before even discussing issue with us. District manager Javier contacted us on 7/28 asked for my statement and advised he would call back. On 7/31 Javier DM called back and advised that the part that was replaced had no correlation with the engine and there for it was not their fault. After 15 plus years of loyalty we nor our family members will be returning. read more

We've been going here for a couple years and just had our first negative experience. My girlfriend and I just left after having her oil changed yesterday. We went to pick it up today and it wouldn't start at all. Dead battery. The car is only 1.5 years old so there's no reason it should be dead, brakemax offered to sell us a new one for $150 but we declined and had it jumped instead to take elsewhere. When it started after the jump, both interior dome lights came on. Meaning that whoever worked on it left both lights on, draining the battery. It's frustrating that this careless mistake was made by a mechanic and that their effort to fix their mistake was to offer us a $150 battery at their store and when we declined they told us to take it to our dealership to see if it could be replaced under warranty causing us hours more headache waiting around. Also, after having the tires rotated with the oil change the check tire pressure light is now on read more

On my last review, BrakeMax stated that they would contact me off-line to discuss the problem; THEY NEVER DID CONTACT ME. I ended up going to AutoZone and bought new rotors and new pads and replaced them myself (pretty easy actually, and very reasonably priced for their premium rotors and pads and they loaned me a caliper tool). The annoying rubbing noise is now completely gone and the brakes work great. The original rotors were warped and BrakeMax decided to just leave them that way. Before actually going to BrakeMax, I went to Firestone and they told me that I needed new rotors, but I decided to get a second opinion from BrakeMax (they told me the rotors are fine). BrakeMax was wrong and Firestone was right. The entire BrakeMax brake job was a joke and a total waste of my money and time. Their Micky Mouse fix to stop the noise (unsuccessfully) was to grind the ends off of the brake pads, giving me less pad surface and less stopping power. I keep their pads in my garage to show my car enthusiast buddies for a good laugh. read more

I only rated 1 star because that was the lowest. I had the left front wheel bearing replaced on my Dodge truck and shortly after I noticed a vibration. I discovered the cause was a loose bottom brake caliper bolt and to my surprise the the top bolt was gone. Not to worry if I wrecked they have insurance by Henry at the desk. I like when I get great service. I love it when a mechanic is willing to tell me that I don't need that service yet. I took my car in because I was told by a dealership that I would need new brakes soon, along with rotors. After traveling some 3,000 miles across country, I thought that it was probably about time to get them replaced. My mechanic showed me where the wear is, and told me that its still within spec. They wanted to replace an idler arm that had just been replaced, and was OK. Then they did some work but tried to charge 200 more than estimated, they said they did not quote the smaller price, but then they saw the note on the paperwork where they did quote that price. After I paid and got out of there, next time they said they did not want to service my cars anymore. Just as well. read more

I have used Brakemax on Pantano and Speedway for over 7 years. I recently tried to get an oil change. I called to make an appointment and calls go straight to voicemail. They never called me back. I had to go in and make an appointment. My oil change took over three hours. When I mentioned to the guy that it has never taken this long he just kinda gave me a smirk and said we work on over 40 cars a day. Now my car is leaking oil. There was literally a puddle of oil in my carport. It's too bad that after making the change in staff and management that this establishment has gone to hell. I will not be going back. read more

I've been to looks of shops to get work done on my car. This is by far the best! The staff is friendly and outgoing. They didn't try and make me get unnecessary work done on my car. What makes this place stand out is that they actually took the time to show me what they were doing on my car and explain it and advise me on things that could be done proactively to increase the life of my car. I scheduled an appointment at this Brake Max because I had another appointment near here. They were friendly and helpful. They have Wi-Fi. And they didn't try and get me to get a bunch of other stuff done this time around. It is possible that I didn't need anything else done. Huh. Anyway. Good work, decent price. They would have gotten five stars, however they wouldn't let the shuttle take me to my appointment (not usually used for small ticket items?). It was fine in the end, I needed to walk and had been prepared to just in case, but it kind of sucks for those who are not prepared to wait, and don't want to walk. read more

I went BRAKEmax Tucson, Pantano-Speedway, in APRIL 29, 2022 to replace my dead battery. They also supposed to inspect my car AC so I dropped my car there and one hour later they called me and said we found the AC problem but if we fix it we will charge you $300 and I accepted it. When I went there to pick up the car they said we did that but AC still is not working. It was very funny they charged me $200 for not fixing the AC!!! They said we did what we told you but AC has another problem. read more

This is our go-to Brake Max location for oil changes and simple car matters for our Jeep. I'm not really car savvy, so I'm not really comfortable at car repair shops. But the staff here has always been very professional, helpful, and thorough. We always call to make an appointment a few days in advance. We tried to walk in last minute once or twice, and the wait turned out to be long. When we've called ahead, they've always been able to get our car in and out in the timeframe that works for us. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. They make sure you get the work done that you're asking for. During our last oil change, we asked them to check on a leak that we've been seeing. We already had a good idea of what the issue was, since it's happened before. The Brake Max guys correctly diagnosed it, someone called us with the info and gave us a price quote, and gave us his opinion about it. Surprisingly, he said to just wait on it because it's not a bad leak or a big deal. If you're anything like me, you assume walking in to any car repair shop, they're looking for any chance to gouge you or oversell you on work that isn't necessary. But Brake Max was completely honest, and we definitely appreciate that! It's a breath of fresh air, and makes me much more comfortable going here. And their quoted price was less than half of the price that the Jeep dealership wants to do the job. Speaking of prices, I think they're all very fair and competitive at Brake Max. They have promotions sometimes, too, which make the pricing even better. The manager actually gave us a discount last time because they had a promo running. We didn't know about it, so he could have skipped it. But instead, he applied it to our bill. Again, that's really honest and fair. The store is clean, and the waiting room looks decent and comfortable. I've never waited in it, though. But they do have a TV and Wi-Fi available. They also have a shuttle that will bring you home in case you don't want to wait. Overall, this is a great Brake Max location where you can trust your car is being taken care of properly. read more

The AC in my truck was acting up. In Tucson, in June, that's a problem. Called up BrakeMax because my wife told me she saw they were running a special. I scheduled an appointment and they got me in within an hour. I, like Lauren K., am not repair savvy and am very reluctant to trust shops when it comes to repairs. I almost always end up with sticker shock when the bill comes. They did try to sell me some extra work that I may or may not have needed. I was told my AC system had no leaks but certain parts could wear out and I could avoid that by getting them replaced now... for "about" $130. That may or may not be true. Do you see why I have trust issues? I asked them to just charge the AC system and ended up getting out of there for just over thirty bucks. Had the extra work issue not come up, they would have gotten more stars. All that said, I would likely use them again. read more

I had my car serviced for tune up and a couple of other things. Eddie was very friendly. But when I picked up my car, engine light AGAIN. Turned out a new code popped up on a diagnostic that wasn't there when it was checked by BrakeMax before. The code was for a wire that was disconnected in the area where the spark plugs was changed. I paid $2000 and they had me drive away with a empty coolant reservoir. That only means they did not check my fluids. Of course they are giving me trouble. 03/15 is when I took my car in and still hasn't been resolved. They don't own up to there mistakes and looks like they don't want to deal with unsatisfied costumer's. Especially when they know its their mistake. Been coming to the Brake Max on N Thornydale for years and have been more than satisfied. They have always treated me right and that is why I come here exclusively. Today, though was ridiculous. Two hours for a simple oil change guys? I made an appointment and was there on time. My truck was moved into one of the bays an hour later... an hour later... This never happened under the previous management, they now seem a little more than disorganized. I understand idiot customers walking in and demanding to be seen but maybe you should put your paying, potential return customers a little higher on the service list. There were two employees manning the counter, one should have been helping the walk ins while the other took care of the finished vehicles. My oil change took fifteen minutes, then the truck sat out in the parking lot for over half an hour waiting. Piss poor performance here guys, if I would have acted this way when I was a manager I would have been fired. Maybe that discussion should be held here. read more

We have been having our cars serviced at BrakeMax for over 15 years. Jamie was always great as a manager, but Henry, the new manager, just far exceeded my expectations. He talked me into purchasing four new Michelin tires from him in November. He was able to beat Costco's sale price by $94. Soon afterwards, we moved to Colorado and within less than 1500 miles, one of my tires had a screw in it on the tire shoulder, where it couldn't be repaired. Little did I know that BrakeMax doesn't exist in Colorado, so I had to deal directly with Michelin and one of their local dealers, Pep Boys. After waiting TWO WEEKS, during which Pep Boys and Michelin failed to find me a replacement tire, I reached out to Henry. He told me to have the tire installed at Costco and BAM! He reimbursed me for the cost of the tire. He is honest and stands by his products. I give him the highest recommendation and would definitely continue doing business with him and the BrakeMax he's managing ANY TIME. Thank you, Henry! read more

Don't go to this place unless you want to have all of their work redone somewhere else! I had my brakes and shocks/struts replaced here. Since then I had to go back and have the brakes redone within 3k miles. I took it in and the manager tells me that they're fine. I told him I didn't agree with all of the noise they were still making. He made the unprofessional recommendation to drive fast down an empty street and hit the brakes really hard to break them in. Are you kidding me? I had to take my car into another Brakemax location and have my brakes redone...correctly. They not only replaced the pads but also had to do work on the rotors again. Makes me think it was never done the first time or at least obviously not done correctly. I was also hearing noises from my front shocks/struts when going over speed bumps or curbs. The same noises I was noticing before I had them replaced. I took my vehicle into another Brakemax location, avoiding this one altogether, and was told they were bad and needed to be replaced. How is that even possible? Is this shop putting on bad, or already worn or weathered parts on cars and selling them as new or something? This just reeks of poor quality work and shady practices Luckily the parts were warrantied, but I got stuck paying for the labor to have work redone that shouldn't have needed to be done for another 50k plus miles. I will never be back to this shop and will inform anyone I can to stay away from there. read more

Had to get air in a tire. Pulled in here and immediately got attention. The mechanic spotted a screw in a back tire. He said they could fix it that day. They were so nice so I returned a few hours later leaving the car. When I picked it up, I got a printed bill for ZERO charge! Now who does that at a retail car servicing business? Rare find. Establishment was clean and was a comfortable place to wait. Most of the staff was older and seemed very interested in helping me find and fix the actual problems with my car. I didn't feel pushed to purchase gimmicky issues like fluid flushes. Brake information was detailed and correct. Knowledge of car service among staff seemed extensive with staff members having 10 years + of experience and prices seemed fair. Overall good experience. read more
