Lived in Delco for 50 years. Meats are always good quality but the CUSTOMER SERVICE is the WORST!!! As the years go on they become more rude and obnoxious. Especially one guy-wish I knew his name to post it. They LOST the meaning of service. You can get the same quality meat anywhere else. Love this place. When you walk in the door and smell the food you know. I bought a frozen container of chicken scallopini and I have to tell you it was amazing. Lunch meat special #3 is unbelievable. Visited to get (2) bags of meatballs and sauce after I had them at a holiday party. Great looking "throwback" butcher shop. The meatballs might be the best I've had anywhere, seriously. Great products. Just a heads up. The cranky old woman that rings people up at the register rung up 2 extra items and increased the price of one of our lunchmeat purchases this morning for over $34. We got home and looked over the receipt and caught it. Remember to double check your receipt when paying. Its easy to miss that she increased the price of the lunchmeat, but we were able to catch that she added extra items to our bill. Example: If you bought $5 of American cheese, whats she is doing is adding extra money on at the register so you would be charged more than the $5. Say $5.25. Unbelievable! We were able to check the receipt from the prior weekend when we were discarding what we purchased, we still had the bag with last weeks receipt! Sure enough the prices of the two items we bought from the deli counter were increased by .27 cents. If this woman hates her job, the customers or both, they should remove her from working at the checkout counter. read more

Giants on Baltimore Pike and Havertown didn't have the rib roast in stock... Google'd, Yelp'd, and found Tweedys... Gave them a ring, and was told "they have it everyday".. Drove over.. A lil one stop shop! They have almost everything you need!!! Bread, seasoning, meat, deli meat, frozen section. I was wow'd. The guy that helped us was pretty friendly, asked which end of the roast we wanted., weighed it, made sure the price was decent for us to say "OK".. Wasn't pushy or rude at all. I can totally relate to what previous reviewers meant when they mention "customer service". I felt the same way. I placed a call into the store because I didn't want to waste the time driving over. We had already visited two Giants and they didn't have it in stock, it was crunch time on our end. Called Tweedys, and asked if they had it in stock. The guy that answered said "uhhh yea, we have that everrryday". That "tone" kind of threw me off for 10seconds. Parking could be a bit of a pain since it was so limited. I've been a customer for over 40 years. Today, no longer. Each time I ask for my imported ham to be chipped, I'm met w/major attitude the last few visits. I was told former employee was fired for same. Today my son-in-law asked for his that way & was told they no longer do that. I called to spw manager, didn't want to give me his name. I told him my family has been coming there for years asking for their ham the same way. He asked me why we "like" it that way...really? I told him that each time I visit, I may drop $100 worth of business & if that's my request, I expect it w/a smile (no rude comments). Poor customer service skills! Hope u save ur self some $$. Then to watch the owner berate one of his employees in front of me. He is a mean man. So disrespectful to employees and customers. My family has been going to this butcher shop for a long time & I cannot trust their butchers anymore. My wife had gone into the shop & asked for 2 racks of pork spare ribs (not baby backs). What they gave her was a loin with small bone fragments attached. When I brought them back & questioned why I got these, the butcher played dumb & said they are spare ribs & that they are sold out of the St.Louis style with the bone through them. So essentially what they did was instead of telling my wife they're sold out, they'll sell us loin w/ a little bone in them. I use to enjoy coming here but lately I feel that the two gentlemen are overworked and tired. When I was getting my things he said "I'm running out of room " i said I could stop ordering and he said"that would be great!" So I stopped I think I'll Be going across the street from now on. Also I was overcharged for a product he forgot to ring up! Disappointed I spend a lot of hard earned money here but it seems like they aren't happy or maybe overworked. I understand all of that please be less sarcastic after all if we didn't spend money here you would not need to be working here. Previous review is correct. The guys here don't talk much behind the counter. If you didn't know any better, you might even call them a little grumpy. But that's Delco and that's part of the beauty. Bottom line is that the guys who work there have never steered me wrong. If I had a question, they answered it. And really, what it comes down to is that the quality of their meats has never been in doubt in my mind. I tend to get fresh chicken parts and ribs here, and they come off my grill with perfect taste and juice every single time. In the end, that's what keeps me coming back here. read more

While I'll definitely say this place has an old time butcher shop feel...but is that a good thing? I decided to give this place a try after having their meatballs at a party (which were actually yummy)! Well my experience was not a positive one and found the employees were quite grumpy and a bit rude. But since my visit was a short one I decided to give it a second try and didn't want to make a judgement based on one visit cause we're all entitled to a bad day. Well, the second visit proved to be even worse! Same encounter with employees and quite frankly I found the place had a dirty, crowded feel and even saw a dead roach!!! The way the meat is displayed is quite unsanitary in todays day and age. I just couldn't shake the dirty feel and couldn't bring myself to buy anything more to report further on their products. I did check out the prices and they were a little high but they did have a nice variety of foods (which just made the store feel that much more crowded and squished). Their meatballs are good, can't deny that, but so are Colonial Village's down the street...which is where you'll find me lol. The guys behind the counter are usually busy and don't talk much. For someone trying to learn cuts of meat, I wish they were just a little more welcoming. I never felt rushed out the door, but it's hard to make conversation and pick up some information at times. That said, These guys know what they're doing. They absolutely know their meats. I've picked up a number of pork butts, racks of ribs, sausage, ground beef, and it's always high quality stuff. Their frozen selection is always worth a look too. I've heard numerous times that you should get to know your butcher. This is the place I go for great meats. read more

My go to butcher shop. It has that old timey look about it and the cuts are always good. It does however kind of smell in there which is why I only give it 4 stars. I think the smell is from the pickles but otherwise a great place. read more

Went there because I was looking for a place to get better cuts for the charcoal grill and smoker. When I asked for skirt steak they rudely laughed at me as if it was a stupid question. A Delco legend! The prices are slightly higher than what you'll find in the supermarket but the quality is second to none! The meet is so fresh and juicy and tasty. They also have a wide variety of homemade items that they package and freeze. As summer winds down I would tell you if you have not loaded up on their meats for your next barbecue you should.
