Been wanting to try this place but I keep forgetting about it. Apparently they don't always fair well at festivals. They started TooGoodToGo and my intuition told me this would be an enjoyable pickup. Pasta was fine and not too oily. Chicken Parmesan had good sauce and seasoning. The staff asked me if I wanted anything else and I said no. I was so overwhelmed with outside life stuff but maybe next time I come, I can try a sandwich or something prepared like that too. Unfortunately, I had a really disappointing experience. I received chicken cutlets that were raw. When I called to let them know, there was no apology and no acknowledgment of how serious that is from a food-safety standpoint. I explained that I wasn't able to come back in to exchange them, and the response I received was simply to "cook them in the oven." There was no offer of a refund or replacement, and again, no apology. Mistakes can happen, but how a business handles them matters. We were fortunate to find Luigi & Giovanni to support our TCS team's box lunch needs during the PGA Championship. This was by far one of the best catering experiences we have had. We typically manage 1 to 4 events a year that require boxed lunches, often up to 400 per day over a week to a week and a half. In the past, menus tended to feel repetitive, and our staff usually get uninterest throughout the week. L&G was a completely different story. In fact, a team member reached out to me personally to say these were the best lunches they've ever had while working with our company. The food was outstanding. The salads were especially impressive, the Giovanni Salad with fresh strawberries, cucumbers, and goat cheese, delicious! The packaging was also excellent, with everything carefully secured and even extra items included. Jose was an absolute pleasure to work with. She went above and beyond, from helping us select menu items for each day to ensure all dietary restrictions were properly handled and separated. She and her team were professional, communicative, and truly a joy to work with. We cannot recommend them enough! read more

Different cheesesteak #997 in the last four years. Guest Eater Amigo Dan. We took our cheesesteak to Locust Lane Brewing in Malvern. This cheesesteak was a grill person's love away from being a very good cheesesteak. And a great roll. And more cheese. On 2nd thought, we liked the meat, mushrooms and onions. They did need to spend more time on the grill together and get mixed together but they were good. The roll was substandard for Luigi and Giovanni's. That is more a nod to Luigi and Giovanni's awesomeness than a slight of the roll. Luigi and Giovanni's is awesome. When you go, start on the right side. We took our cheesesteak to Locust Lane Brewing. We like Locust Lane. Nice beer selection. They had a wood burning oven pizza truck. We liked the pizza. read more

This deli makes the best Italian hoagie I have ever eaten. The bread is a soft roll that is the most fresh I ever ate, filled with melt in your mouth deli meats and cheeses, with just the right enough of lettuce, tomato, mayo, and oils. We ordered this alongside a large egg salad and fennel salad (both incredible!), with an extra roll, and we ate a heavenly feast in the generous seating outdoors. Inside - for a lover of Italian food as I am - is a child's paradise. It's the first time I've ever seen anything of it's kind - an Italian deli and supermarket packed with every Italian delight you could imagine. I could not believe I grew up here for decades and that in my fourth decade, finally discovered this Italian gem, thanks to Yelp. And, having lived in Hoboken NJ for ten years, I am no stranger to some of the best Italian delis in this country. The service was so kind and warm. Do yourself a favor and go - buy your favorite sandwich (so many!), homemade Italian desserts, handmade pastas, soups, salads, grab an extra bag of soft rolls, and make sure you don't miss the room to the right of the main entrance and store - which could be a very successful Italian prepared food business in its own right - with its counters heaped with beautifully prepared and presented grilled meats, prepared pastas, lasagnas, veggies, salads and more. My exposure to L&G goes back to getting sandwiches and catered delectables at Villanova basketball games. Finally got to the store greeted by an outside sandwich setup where the smell of pork wafted through the air. Inside is a well stocked grocery flanked by a butcher counter on one side and a deli counter on the other. Lots a varieties of cuts of meats from bracciole to flat iron to chicken cutlets. Stood there for 8mins at the deli counter while 4 people walked around in circles. Not one person said hello or offered to take my order. I asked the gentleman standing next to me if he ordered yet and he said "2 sandwiches 15mins ago". Service was beyond horrible (I didn't get any) and all the meat is choice frozen or pre frozen. Extremely disappointed, thankfully I didn't reserve our large party for the taste of Italy in September yet. Unfortunately I'll have to call everyone tomorrow and tell them we need to find another place to eat. This was my 2nd and last visit since they took over this space in Ellis Preserve. Ordering flow is wonky--I stood under the sign marked "order here" along with other people who had already ordered but honestly, who could tell because everyone was just standing around. The cook finally made eye contact with me and instead of asking "how can I help you", "can I take your order" or anything else customer service focused, he asked if I needed a stool. Yeah, I'm short--nice observation, guy. When I replied he said he couldn't hear me which is likely because he was cooking and it was super loud... and I guess I needed a stool so I could shout over the divider. Didn't have rye bread so I couldn't order one of the specials listed. Ordered a wrap instead and dude directed me to another counter/person to place order. The guy with the Phils hat who made my wrap was super nice. Wrap was ok but overpriced. Young lady taking payment was nice too. I worked in bars and restaurants for years and would never dream of talking to someone the way the guy on the grill did. Cheeky banter and ribbing is cool if you know someone and they're a regular customer but he was out of line. Good luck with all those other eateries moving into the business campus. read more

We ordered Bakala and Calimari from them this year for the Christmas Eve fishes dinner, a dinner we've been doing for 40 years. Anthony's isn't available this year where we usually get it, so we came here. The Calimari was a large portion, but more than half was the cheap tentacle parts. We separated the rings out and they were the worst. They were so overcooked they literally chewed like rubber bands. Inedible. Then the Bakala, which we expected to be some big pieces of cod in sauce for the 24 bucks they charged us, instead we got a big dish of sauce with three bite size pieces of fish and a bunch more squid tentacles. It looked literally like the scraps from the cutting board were swept into the pan. 60 bucks for a bunch of food we ended up throwing out. They could have had a new regular customer. read more

Love this place with few reservations. Beyond belief prepared foods and great selection of both fresh frozen and dried pasta. Cheese and salumis are out of this world. Butcher section has pink lights that enhance the redness of the meats. Great selection of some custom roasts and have a lamb shoulder. BUT, I have a problem with their ground meats in that they have a weird sourish smell. Very off putting. I bought the ground beef, it was mealy dry and had that smell. Wrote it off as a one off, then bought several beef, veal, and pork combos. Same thing. I prefer not to buy that anymore, but up to your sniffer. I go about once every couple months, maybe 4-6 times per year. Parking is easy. The employees are kind and welcoming, and the inside is not dirty. We frequently buy food from the deli area. The variety is always different, and overall, decent in taste. The tilapia and salmon is a personal favorite; I also like the meatballs, asparagus, and spaghetti with garlic. They have pre-made salad, cheeses, meats, etc. In the back is an expert butcher, and off to the left side is a hot food area. The main sticking point, however, is the price. The prices could be lower, as I don't notice a significant difference in taste or overall quality to warrant such a high price. And a couple of times, the place is a hit or miss. For example, the pulled pork sandwich on the weekend (outside) is great, but when I order from inside, the bread feels like a wet sponge, and the preparer does not wear gloves. Like, what the hell? Had the unfortunate experience of purchasing food from them during the Italian Festival at St. Anthony's in Delaware where they served as a vendor. There was a mix-up with our order as their stand was total chaos and an employee handed us an extra box of pasta. Upon telling the employee she gave us extra, she nicely told us to keep the food anyway until Bill came over and snatched the box from us and accused us of stealing. He was so rude and unprofessional and acted like we were thieves trying to get away with a $0.50 serving of pasta and some jar sauce that they were charging $16 for. That interaction was so upsetting I could barely even stomach the cold pasta they served us after. Never again, avoid if you want to stay away from jerks like Bill. read more

Now Nova is affiliated with Aramark and sells beer but lost the good food connect. Anyhow, you know how it goes - Covid and all - but L&G still exists and has the best outdoor hot buffet going. Chicken parm, sausage and pepper, two styles of wings et al plus all that's inside... Luigi & Giovanni's gets extra special consideration cause they are open early. read more

Man the service blew my mind! Went to try pig roast. This man was so nice and unexpectedly took me and my friend on a tour of the place. He gave us complementary food as well. I would give zero stars if I could. We ordered meatballs, chicken marsala, potatoes and salad for 15 people. When we brought the food home, it was ice cold. I immediately called L&G to ask why it was cold. I spoke with a manager who unapologetically told me that the food is always served cold unless they are told that the food needs to be warm for pickup. I explained that was never told to us and there would be no reason for us to assume that meatballs and chicken marsala would not be warm when picked up. The manager then doubled-down and said the menu doesn't mention that the food will be warm at pickup. I was done at that point and hung up. We heated up the food. For food that was intended to be heated at home, no heat-up instructions were provided. The chicken was inedible because the sauce was a congealed goo. The potatoes were also inedible because they were apparently not cooked through originally and were mostly still raw, even after warming in a 350 degree over for an hour. Truly awful service and food. Worse yet, paid over $300 for everything. Not making that mistake again. read more

My mother's co-worker recommended Luigi & Giovanni as caterers for our wedding. My husband went to pick up samples of the food (arranged ahead on the phone with no mention of a fee), and they actually charged him for the samples. Really? They had no set protocol for wedding sampling; had there been a fixed plate with house specialties or wedding-type fare for a modest fee, whose price was presented over the phone (so we had the choice to agree to it, or take a hint that these were not the elite professionals we had been told they were) then that would have been remotely good business. But instead, they served us up an a-la-carte, unceremonious, unappetizing plastic sandwich carton of yuk, and charged for it. I didn't need 2 pounds of pasta to decide if I liked it, I needed a BITE! Anywhere else we sampled anything it was free. Ridiculous. Since there were no appointments to meet with the manager or appropriate staff member who handles menu selection, we were told to show up and pick up the "sample." Because it was a pick-up affair and I had a million other wedding responsibilities, my husband went to get it alone. Had I been present, we would have turned around and left, with the food sitting there, and the cashier with a dumbfounded look on her face. Really. But sadly I wasn't there, and my husband tries too hard to be nice and polite, so despite their rudeness, he paid them. The food was disgusting. It was trying way too hard to be creative by making trendy, pseudo-expensive ingredients go together when they shouldn't. At least we didn't make the mistake of hiring them for our wedding. This place is a business designed to price gouge the shopper. The prices on the deli board are "half pound" of meat, so you order it then it's double the price that you thought it was. Clever. The baked goods are 12-13$ for a container of cookies. Wow! Are they made of 14k gold? The quality is good, but it's one of those businesses where it's entire business model is to overcharge older people. Nothing about the selection, quality, or prices makes it worth supporting. Certainly, I've never had something from here and been impressed by it. Maybe the rolls, which are fresh. But they're brought in from another bakery in the Philly area. What makes it worse is her wearing a mask UNDER her nose while talking nonstop and complaining about masks. In a food store! Nary a Sunday dinner at my parent's house goes by without something on the table from Luigi & Giovanni. Marble-sized spheres of marinated fresh mozzarella, toothy green olives touched with red pepper flakes and split long hot peppers stuffed with breadcrumbs, ricotta cheese or sausage appear weekly, to my belly's endless joy. These sort of prepared foods are where L&G really shines -- they also do catering, so they have the technique down for creating edibles that appeal whether hot, room temp or cold from the fridge. Their butcher and deli does it right, as well -- this is the only place my step-mom will buy raw chicken to make cutlets, or the "meatloaf mix" of ground beef, pork and veal for meatballs. Though their red sauce is not bad, and super convenient when you don't have time to make it yourself, my gravy is better (classic Italian kitchen machismo, right here). read more

I love pork. Perhaps it's because I am a native son of Iowa, the top US producer of pork. Perhaps it's because at the university I went to, we crowned a Pork Queen each Fall and for me pork has become a Freudian web of desire, excitement and a drive to be satiated. Whatever the reason, I crave succulent roasted pork. It is visceral and real. Unfortunately finding finger-licking, awe-inspiring roast pork in my neck of the woods is no easy task. Oh yeah there are abundant claims of mouth-watering porky deliciousness. But they are usually wishful-yet-empty boasts for pork that is dry and tasteless. Happily I have found a place nearby where I can reliably "get my pork on." Granted it is only available on Saturdays, "until it's gone," but hey it's a guaranteed fix. I bought prepared food as I have done very often. There were mouse droppings on it. When I called to tell them what I had discovered, they argued with me and told me that I was mistaken. It was Saturday. In the summer that means L&G roasts a whole pig, debones it and shreds it up for delicious sandwiches. These are sold right outside in the front along with meatballs, wings, chicken cutlets and other things. I was there for the pork. I got mine with their homemade hot peppers and hard provolone cheese. The meat was hot and juicy. The only problem is the roll - it couldn't hold up to the meat. In other words, it fell apart. Its a great pork sammy - not in the upper stratosphere of the best pork sandwich Tommy DiNics. Their's is amazing - voted best sammy in the USA by the Travel channel -and the hard roll holds up. Still, this is a delicious pork sandwich and highly recommended. I also purchased some sweet peppers,sausage and onions to eat later along with some rolls. The sauce was good. This was good. Also wanted to try their macaroni so I purchased some manicotti for dinner the next day. That was very disappointing. The gravy was not good neither was the macaroni. Springfield Pasta Company, P&S Raviolis, Tallutos and Scaramuzzas all blow this out of the water. I was not happy this heavy Italian specialty store wasn't better for the price. This place is on the high end - I dont mind if Im getting food that's worth it. I will be back for the pork sammy, the sausage and peppers and to try some other things. read more

I have been eating Italian hoagies from here since long before it switched over from Colonial Meat Market. It's one of my favorites. I will echo the other recent comment about the service behind the deli counter. What's going on? I ordered 2 hoagies by phone. Both were wrong. One was remade, the other we didn't catch until we were home. A standard Italian hoagie with no special instructions was ordered, and it was prepared with just meat and cheese! No lettuce! No onions! No tomato! It's just a mistake as I've had a hundred of them right, but the group back there does seem a little confused and doesn't acknowledge customers when they arrive to the counter. I still love 'em and I'll be back. We need a little improved customer orientation at the counter! More love, more care please. read more

Spoiled we have been over the years by the excellence of out two favorite servers Marissa and RJ. But we needed a cooked on site and served meal for a dinner party this time! And that is what we got. The meal was planned with Fabio - appropriately named as the dinner he prepared was fabulous! Cooked to perfection by Fabio, served professionally and invisibly by the delightful Ryan, the meal earned our praise and that of our guests. What a great night, what great professionals. Strolled in today per a friend's suggestion... service-wise, they are so sweet and accommodating. Nathan and a gentleman on the other side of the market (Jim, I think? Poor memory) showed me where everything was that I needed and were very patient with me. They all asked for and referred to me by my name which I think is a nice, personable small business touch. Then they even carried my food (under 20lbs) to my car for me which was impressive. I don't remember the last time I had service like that. Food: I found the sauce (or gravy) to be very salty, almost uncomfortably, which was disappointing for the price I paid. Usually I'll make my own but tonight I needed something quick, I may opt for a brand name jar next time to be safe. The meatballs were yummy- again, expensive, but I'm satisfied and I'll pay good money for good food. I only now wish I didn't bake them in that sauce but live and learn.
