What's a girl to do... I'm walking in West End I hear this clicking sound that matches my pace. Ugh, I know that sound. Turns out my heel tips got DEVOURED by Gastown and I needed a repair on my only heels. I turn on yelp for desperation and found this particular spot with good hours and a lot of positive reviews. Definitely have to agree with the other reviews on this spot. Before I go into the work he did, I have to mention this is NOT easy to find. It's not in the ground level of the building or even the basement of the building...you have to go down TWO levels to the subway entrance to find this place. Just in front of the subway entrance are 2 stores and he's just on the right hand side. I went right after the rush hour so it was pretty quiet. With his quick eye, it was clear I just needed to replace the tips.... he quickly said just 10 minutes and to come back. I can't even go down the block in 10 minutes... especially on broken heels. Less than 10 minutes later, he's done... my shoes look shiny and the heels are done up! Great thing, I think it came up to $11 including tax. Pretty damn cheap for downtown in my views. I think I've replaced them for $15 USD in Chicago. Good news, I didnt have to go buy new shoes and I could still strut around the city NOT in my running shoes. I do find it funny that the material he used isn't marble tile friendly. When I walk around in them on those type of floors, I squeak a bit haha. Better than destroying my shoes I guess! read more

Shoe Doc lives up to his name! Endlessly busy, Mr. Kim is the hardworking and affable shoe doctor behind the counter. He's quick and will fix your shoes while you wait. He'll even fix shoes that I seem to have taken far beyond the point of return. Today, Mr. Kim showed me pictures of a pair of boots he changed from a long pointy toe to a gentle rounded toe. At this point, I'm not sure there's anything he can't do! The price is reasonable for downtown. $12 to replace a women's heel tips. $15 to repair the soles of my boots. They cut keys as well. Located conveniently next to the Burrard skytrain station, inside Royal Centre. Shoe Doc can be difficult to find in the basement but Mr. Kim is well worth it. read more

Quite a disappointing experience. I came here to get my soles fixed up after seeing the stellar ratings on Yelp. I was told to pick up my shoes the following Monday morning. I come in Monday morning and lo and behold, the shoes were "put in the wrong pile" and were "forgotten" and thus not repaired. I was told to return later in the afternoon to pick them up. So...I totally get that a couple hours difference is not that bad, but I was very annoyed that my shoes had just been "forgotten". Not only that, but I had to pay for parking TWICE! I should have gotten reimbursed for that first parking fee...just saying. Not very professional to "forget" about your customer's product and to then not be able to deliver the service on time. Certainly also doesn't make me feel like a valued customer - that's for sure. read more

I brought in a pair of never-before worn shoes to have rubber heels placed on them to protect them. When I went to pick them up I almost started crying. The cobbler ruined my shoes. They are scratched, bits of leather have been picked off, they look cheap, poorly done and are dirty. What a disaster. I can't even look at them it makes me so sad. They're discontinued so I can't just grit my teeth and replace them. Paid $50 to have a pair of irreplaceable new shoes destroyed. Yeah, you've got that right. He even made me pay. I came here to get some keys cut (spares) for my trip to Barcelona (good to have spares just in case). I found out about this place from Yelp. I've been here before for shoe repair, however, never for key cutting until today. I got my house key and car key done for $8. The service was speedy, the keys work and the prices were awesomely fair. One of the best deals in the city to get keys done. Now I can take my spares and not have to worry about them getting lost on vacation just in case. One more thing off my bucket list for prep. read more

This isn't the closest shoe repair shop but I chose to go here based on prior reviews. Reviews of other shops docked them for shoddy customer service or poor craftsmanship which deterred me from risking something closer. Being new to the area it was a bit difficult to find. It was down a flight of stairs from the Melville St entrance in the Royal Centre mall. He greeted me immediately and even complimented my hair. I needed the heel replaced on a pair of Allen Edmonds oxfords. The soles were still leather had had been worn down closer to the threading so he suggested repairing them with rubber. Being from a dryer part of the continent where it rains maybe 2 or 3 times a year I've never worried about leather soles, but since the NE weather seems to be more bipolar I opted for rubber soles. He offered to install a higher heel at 8mm and polished the shoe at no extra charge. Not only was the finished result great, he had it done for me in 2.5 hours for 55$. I've only had one pair of shoes replaced once prior so I can't judge if that's a lot to replace heels and soles, but the fact that I was able to retrieve it the same day was enough to justify the cost for me. That and he was very pleasant to converse with. read more

Today I went to the Shoe Doc based on other reviews to get the heels replaced on two pairs of high heels. I had worn them down to the metal. The shop was very clean and conveniently located next to the sky train station. The staff were very friendly. I dropped in on my lunch hour and he said it would only take 15 minutes to repair both pairs of shoes. When I came back not only were the heels all repaired but he had cleaned my shoes and repainted a scuff mark on them. They looked brand new. The price was also very reasonable! This is my new go-to for shoe repair in the city! read more
