I rarely write reviews but when the work is this outstanding I feel compelled to comment. John Lindsay (Royal Chimney and Gutter) took on a difficult chimney repair at my home requiring replacement of the terracotta flu and cement crown on a 20 year old masonry chimney which was leaking. Compared to half a dozen other bids from nearby chimney repairmen and masons, John did the job for half the price, came the next day and completed the task without damage to the surrounding stone at the top of the chimney, and even waterproofed the entire chimney. He also water-proofed two other masonry chimneys with 'ChimneySaver' as well as replaced the rusted chase and collar on another masonry chimney, all for much less than the price quoted by the other companies who wanted double (and in one case triple) the price John gave me. He is reliable, courteous, and efficient. In addition, he washed out a blocked gutter for me at no extra charge. Such kindness and service is seldom encountered in this fast-paced and impersonal world. To quote another reviewer, John has endeared himself to us so much so that he is now our 'go-to-guy' for any and all chimney-related jobs. Don't settle for any other chimney service in the area. In my opinion, John is the best, as he has over 22 years experience in the business. He truly knows his stuff! read more

John Lindsay is the worst! I had him clean my chimney in fall 2016, and he seemed nice enough! I called him in 8/31/17 to fix the top of my chimney and put a cap on it. 9/5/17 called him again and nothing finally called back 9/8/17, and said he would be here on Saturday! He never showed up! On 9/12/18 I texted him, and nothing! Ok, things happen I was not going to hold it against him! On 4/26/18 I called him again about my chimney, he texted back on 4/27/18 saying he could be here today. I waited around only to receive a text at 6:35pm "sorry not today". 4/28/18 another text be there in 30 minutes, and did not show up!!! 5/3/18 John Lindsay texted I can be there tomorrow, guess what he never showed up again! 6/1/18 called and said he can be there tomorrow, he showed this time "WOW". He gave me a price and I said ok when can you do it? He said he could do it next week, ok great! My neighbor wanted their chimney fixed also and my father in law wanted his done too! I had 3 jobs lined up for his lazy ass! Ready for it, he never showed up again! I would not allow this poor excuse of a business owner on my property ever again! Save yourself time and headaches USE SOMEONE ELSE!!! I dont write bad reviews, but after dealing with this company and John, I had to let people know what they get when they try to hire this moron! read more

John Lindsay is a lifesaver. We had a leak in upstairs fireplace and upstairs skylight. John came to our house promptly, diagnosed the problems and started work on the spot. He climbed up on our roof and worked for a few hours. He left to go buy a chimney cap and to make a visit to a scheduled customer. As promised, he returned to our house early that evening, installed chimney cap, checked the work he had done earlier. His charges were very fair and his work meticulous.
