Royal used to be a great resource for parts and accessories especially in the late 1980's to 1990's. Then the brand capitalized more on clothing because of large profit margins for products made in Asian countries. The parts side has gone to hell, the kids behind the counters have little to no technical prowess and are just trading their time for a paycheque with no enthusiasm. After-sales follow up is absolutely horrendous, when you have issues with quality, fitment or items are defective. The staff treat you like they intentionally forget your loyalty, in my case spending $3000 on FXR suits, to argue with you over a missing heated visor cord. **RATING BASED ON SERVICE** My boyfriend and I went here for motorbike helmet shopping. We were helped by Michelle, who provided excellent service. For a first time helmet buyer, I have absolutely ZERO clue as to what to look for or be aware of when buying a helmet. But with Michelle's service, I gained a lot of knowledges about helmets and ended up buying my very first helmet. She did not pressure us or recommending into buying expensive ones like a lot of sales do, all that matters was how comfortable and how snug the helmet was. She helped my boyfriend to find another kinds of helmet than the one he had as he said he wanted to try other ones available, but he ended up buying the same one he had at home but just a size up. Michelle totally understanded and said if that's what you were comfortable with, then that's the one you will stick with. The Whitby store have pathetic staff members (mainly Jennifer), and the manager is inexperienced and has very poor customer service skills. You'll surely get upset if you run into any after sales issues such as warranty relating to safety concerns of an electric visor that separated rendering it dangerous with no more than 20 hours on it, and also in my case, where they chose and sold me the wrong visor for $140 then wouldn't do anything for me because I had opened the bag and removed the protective film when I went to install it. Was looking for a pair of riding pants for this season at a reasonable price. I've been to the Barrie location for other purchases but the newer Whitby location is much more convenient from downtown Toronto. Their selection of average priced street riding gear rivals most in terms of the varied selection. They always have massive sales to make you feel better about buying a $500 pair of leathers for $200. I do wish that they carried more brands for street riders. Mostly Joe Rocket (which I am not a fan of the styling - more Canadian, less Euro - ok quality), ICON and Teknic. Seeking out functional and stylish gear for female riders is also difficult as there is obviously a smaller market here. Lot's of jackets but about 10 pairs of women's pants left hanging. And this is the start of the season! If you're ok wearing pink and girly paisley designs or frumpy all cold weather gear and over the pant k-way looking wind and weather protectors then this is your game. I guess I can't blame RD for carrying only this type of stuff since manufacturers don't produce anything really sleek looking unless you're wiling to shell out over $1000 for a one piece. All sizes available (at least in the women's section) I settled on the 1 pair of Joe Rocket boot cut leathers in black and white (I was looking for a track style). Surprisingly fit perfect and looked good. It didn't have a price tag. All staff I delt with were knowledgeable and courteous. They found out that they were on sale. BONUS I wanted to purchase pants online from other sources but for these things you really have to go in and try for fit. Afterall, you're wearing it to save your butt (and maybe the rest of your body)! Definitely visit them first or any of their other locations for street riding gear. Shiny side up! read more

There is nothing "EASY" about returns or exchanges on electronic or electrical items at Royal Distributing....because there are none. As soon as Royal cashes you out and the item you bought is DOA or faulty on the way out the door, TOUGH. It's your problem. Kiss your money good bye. If you gotta order parts don't...wait till its in stock and in your hands. Ordered parts before Christmas and received the wrong ones in January. So it was reordered in early January told 5 to 8 business days. Now February 7th still can't tell me where there at as there's no tracking process all was told it was sent. After a few visits I will not be going back, Bought a pair of $80 Joe Rocket leather gloves that finger went through in two days which they would not exchange. Okay bad product, poor service I'm over it. Then I read a price for an Alpinestar jacket in their catalogue same price on line, drive 1 hour to find out its actually $30 more out of principal will order it, buy it and wait two days to get it from Honda, then to give them my business! advertise a price then say "catalogue says prices may change in the back" I don't read the fine print on a catalogue and expect you to honour your current catalogue prices. My wife and I went to Royal Distributing in Barrie. She dealt with Amanda, who was absolutely excellent, on the purchase of a jacket, gloves and boots. I on the other hand had to deal with the parts counter guys. They make you feel like they are doing you a favour just serving you. They need a serious attitude adjustment. I'll try to purchase on line from another retailer before I go back there. My wife also purchased a $100 water tube for the kids. A seam let go and the tube was junk after about the 5th ride. Thankfully, she was able to return the tube under warranty. Since they didn't have any other similar tubes in stock, she ended up with a store credit as they wouldn't give her the cash back. Lesson learned, buy from a company that has a decent return policy. Royal Distributing will be the last choice. read more
