My suggestion would be to take the dogs when they're at least 6 months old. Nothing was retained by my dog. We did follow up with training after the 20 day stay and practiced but our trainer was rather young so there were a few things I was concerned about and I should have just followed my gut. I am so happy that there is a company like Master Dog Training. I recently get a poppy and he is my first dog. I definitely overestimated the amount of work and dedications you need for a poppy. I quickly realized that I am not doing proper work: my poppy started to destroy the furniture, bite people, do not listen to my commands. Since he was growing fast, 51 lbs at 5 months, I needed a professional help. I decided to put him in 20 day boot camp for basic obedience and what a difference! In just 10 days they turned my dog into a puppy eager to learn and made changes to her overall attention to her surroundings. I rescued a year old shepherd who was terrible on the leash and very difficult to control. I tried training her myself but soon realized I needed professional help. I researched several trainers in the area and saw that Master Dog had great reviews so I scheduled a consultation. I met with Maxim and Josh to go over my dogs behavioral issues. We spent over an hour discussing my concerns and overall goals. The assessment was professional and felt very thorough. I was able to tell right away that they were animal lovers which for me is very important. If I was going to leave my dog with someone, I wanted to make sure she was in good hands. My favorite part about Master Dog is the one on one time they spend with the owners. It was super easy to schedule a lesson with Max or one of the other trainers. Each lesson is about an hour. The trainer models everything for you and teaches you how to work with your dog when you're back at home. This is going to be a long story but it's worth the read. I brought my 11 year old doberman pit mix Bayleigh, with my moms (now mine) 2 year old pocket pit Blue to Master Dog Training out of desperation to get these 2 dogs who both are not social, are both aggressive and could not be anywhere near each other much less other dogs, to love each other, or at the very least tolerate each other. After seeing great Yelp reviews and seeing it was close to home I gave them a call. My call was returned immediately and I had an appointment the very next day for an evaluation for the dogs. I met with Allen and Alex and watched as they skillfully assessed both dogs' behaviors, aggressors and personalities. To be honest, I was sooooo apprehensive that these 2 dogs would get along and that this would work. I went with their recommendation of 20 day bootcamp. Every aspect of the 20 day training program, pricing and equipment needed was all explained to me in fine detail. It was so hard to leave my boys for 20 days but I ha a good feeling they were in great hands. My very first training session I attended I was beyond impressed with the progress. By my second training session, both dogs were in the same car together, walking together, next to each other and not trying to kill each other! I was so happy to see that MDT truly is the real deal. By my 4 and 5 training sessions, the boys were off leash together and hanging out with the other dogs during the day. My jaw was literally on the floor and tears of joy welled up!!! I couldn't believe it! Even my 11 year old Bayleigh was taking to the training. Want to teach an old dog new tricks?? Take the dog to Master Dog Training! Jessica and Allen were so patient with me and my roommates when teaching us the commands and making sure we were able to do them so the dogs would listen to us after training was over. They sit, they lay down, they heel, they walk beautifully on leash, they aren't fazed by other dogs when walking or out in public areas, the stay in their place and the best part- they aren't fighting!!!!!! My dog had anxiety problems and I took her into master dog training for a 1 hour first class. Half way to the class they were able to determine what is the cause of her anexiety and I was advised to leave her at boot camp. I was a little hesitant at first seeing as this would be a first time my dog has to be without me, but after the course was complete and I took all my individual classes. They saved me from what seemed like an impossible situation. I have an 85lb. 3 y.o. Dalmatian and a 120 lb. 1 y.o. Bernese Mountain Dog. The two dogs got along when the Bernese was a puppy and started to fight when the Bernese became a "man." They are both neutered and still fought. I got bit 4 times trying to break up their fights and the doctor at the urgent care got to know me. Not wanting to lose my arm or give up either one of our babies, we put our dogs in their 20-day boot camp. After the 20 days, I couldn't have been happier with their improvement. We went to their training sessions with our dogs and learned about our role. They also warned us that it would take some time to make things stick. I appreciate them letting us know because they had a few setbacks, which is completely normal. Nobody can wave a magic wand over your dog and fix him/her...it takes work!! I am grateful for the work they did with our dogs. After the work at Master Dog Training PLUS the homework they gave us, we have two happy dogs. Master Dog Training has exceeded my expectations! I did a lot of research but ultimately went with Master Dog Training, because of their 20-day boot camp (which was more like 30 days). The boot camp has been incredible! While I'm sad to leave my pup for a couple days, she continues to astound me at how quickly and how much she has learned. I also appreciate that I have to come in for training as well so I know how to continue the training at home. I get to take her home for about 2 days every 3 to 4 days, which allows me to tell the trainers areas she's still struggling in. I can guarantee that these are the best trainers you will find. I recently got my 1 year old French Bulldog back from bootcamp and she is a completely different dog. She is a lot more obedient and finally listening to commands without always incentivizing her with a treat. She no longer tears stuff up in the house and has learned to "place" on her bed when visitors knock on the door. She definitely needs to continue practicing, but I could honestly say they teach your dog as much as they can within that 20 days. My frenchie has also lost a few pounds and trimmed up as they train heavily on agility for the longevity of your dog to develop their muscles and core. Your dog also trains with every trainer there so your dog will learn to listen to whomever. I would say that's the best part of the bootcamp program. I got a chance to work a lot with Allen and Allie, but saw videos of my dog on IG training with everyone. Each trainers commands are uniform and they all teach the same exact way. The consistency is what allows the dog to learn so fast as they have a firm but rewarding training style. Ultimately, I highly recommend bootcamp to anyone looking for their dog to become more obedient. I've also listed a quick pros and cons for anyone interested below: Pros - Good training style...Easy to learn commands and build a bond with your dog. They teach you to be firm with commands, but also extremely rewarding. - Trainers are great and fun to work with. For every 10 days of bootcamp you get 2-3 personal training classes which is extremely effective. Each time I went I was impressed by what my dog was doing in training classes. - They tailor the training to whatever behavior your dog needs to work on. For instance, I told them that when I'm out in public at a restuarant with my dog, she won't stay still. So for the second half of the training, they taught her to hold her sit command longer. - You can do training classes anywhere in the neighborhood. I chose for one of them to be at the dog park - Your dog will come back from bootcamp 10x better - It's gratifying seeing your dog's progress each time you visit - They accommodate to your schedule for personal trainings...mine were generally later when I got off of work. Cons - Beverly Hills location is dificult to get to...windy road, but amazing scenery - You'll miss your dog. It was tough being away from them for a while which made me worry often...but they send you pics of them and post pictures of them on IG - They make you purchase their equipment on top of the fee for training.
