Found parking conveniently right in front in the street since it was a quiet day out. I was looking for wool roving which she didn't have, however, she was so kind to explain the difference between the types of material and she showed me the correct type of yarn she did have that I'd be able to pull apart with my carding brushes! She had a lot of equipment to use for yarn crafts and it was great to see the variety of product inside. Apparently she holds craft nights and such too which I'm planning on looking into. Prices here were sooo much better than all the places I've found online which is also have to pay extra for shipping. She also even rolled the yarn into a ball for me before we left. Hopefully they'll have wool roving here soon, but I'm thankful for the yarn we were able to purchase for my current projects :) The best part -- her dog Jasper kept us company throughout our whole experience there and he is the absolute cutest cuddle bug! They have material for just about any craft or hobby, including jewelry supplies, yarns, paints, fabrics, books, and lots of artificial florals. What I didn't see was cake decorating materials, but maybe I missed it. I came here specifically for their yarn. They have many different yarns in their own brand, Yarn Bee. This yarn feels really soft to the touch, so I look forward to using it for my next project. Their yarns are comparable in price to Michaels, but they don't have the large 1-lb value skeins. I also appreciated that there are some Christian items, including calendars, books, and other knick knacks. My only minor complaint is the line to pay. I only had a few items, but there is no self-check available, so I had to wait in the 1 line. Other than that, this is a nice crafts store with a decent yarn supply.

The man who was on site that day was nice but not helpful. In emailing Dyan later, I wrote that perhaps we should have come when she was there, because she might know the memo books better, and could point us in the right direction to find an upholstery fabric in a lavender or lilac color. Her response was that "Lavender and lilac are not popular in today's fabric industry, but we do have a selection of white upholstery fabrics." First of all, she's wrong. Mills and fabric houses offer plenty of options in lavender, lilac, and other shades of light purple. Just look at Kravet's, Robert Allen's, or any other to-the-trade website. I worked in that industry for 20 years. Second, that wasn't what I asked. I asked for her help, and I was told the color I was seeking wasn't popular and I could try a white fabric. (Of course you have white fabric!) This was not helpful, and to be told that what I was looking for is not popular is borderline rude. Her response put me off so much that I've delayed the project for a year. I'm now beginning the process with another upholstery shop and am reminded of my negative experience with Dyan at Dan's. Maybe if you get a better salesperson, you'll have a better experience. But I'll never recommend Dan's.

Her inability to properly schedule appointments and have projects completed on time disqualifies "Said with Threads, LLC" as a viable option for having clothing alterations performed. If you are an East Bay resident and need alterations performed, please read the rest of this review before scheduling an appointment with this establishment. I've been going to Eileen since December 2024. Online reviews looked good, and her shop was near my house, which made it convenient for me. I encountered an odd issue with her during my first visit. She had informed me my pants were ready for pickup, and I specified the day/time I would be coming in. When I went to her shop for pickup, I called, and she informed me she had gone to deliver an order for someone else because she didn't think I would appear on time. I was completely baffled as to why she reached this conclusion and why she admitted it verbally. Between September and October 2025, I had requested that she perform alterations on some pants. On this occasion I was charged the day I left the articles with her and was assured they'd be ready on the date she had specified. Prior to picking them up, I called Eileen and informed her I was on my way. When she answered, she told me my pants were not ready and that she hadn't even started working on them. I was quite upset over this since more than a week had passed since I'd left the pants with her. About a month later, I brought in a blazer she had worked on previously and asked her to reattach the buttons, as some of them had come loose. Although she did not charge me for this, she assured me the blazer would be ready on time. She failed to have the blazer ready on time when I went to her shop. I went to go run some errands for about an hour, and when I came back, she had finished working on my blazer. This indicated that she did not need more than a week to work on my blazer and had procrastinated or otherwise failed to make good use of her time. What frustrated me, however, was the condition in which she returned my blazer. It was covered in lint/hair/debris and had a strange odor to it. I had dry-cleaned it prior to leaving it with Eileen, and her utter lack of regard for keeping it clean really upset me. Most recently, during December 2025, I requested an appointment two days in advance. I wanted her to hem some pants I needed for work. She had agreed to meet me at 11 am on a Wednesday. On the day of the appointment, I called her to let her know I had arrived. When she answered, she told me she had mistakenly marked my appointment for a different time/day and had left to attend to another client.

It was soooo stressful going into each appt because it was always a gamble on whether or not the dress had been changed/fixed since the last appt. In addition, EVERY TIME that the dress was too tight, she asked if it was because I was bloated/swollen from being on my menstrual cycle.. even when I'm not (not sure if it's just me but I find that to be lowkey rude lol) 6/21 - initial consult 7/9 - first fitting, measured and pinned 7/16 - waist too tight, cut hem 7/30 - waist still too tight, uneven hem 8/4 - cancelled due to covid 8/24 - still the same waist tightness, she noticed I was upset so she planned/pinned the bustle 8/28 - waist slightly looser but still tight, bustle uneven 9/3 - nothing done because she thought the appt was the next day 9/4 - tightness around the waist still the same, shoulder straps uneven, I requested to see the dress with the bustle undone and I noticed that the hem was way too long when the bustle was let down 9/9 - waist feels even tighter, I had to recommend her to measure my waist with my regular clothes on for comparison 9/10 - dress fits well, she fixed some slightly loose fabric under one armpit when I pointed it out but OMG FINALLY DONE!!!

The overall experience was great! There were some reviews complaining that the balloons would deflate after just a few hours and I was a bit concerned, but the balloons held up pretty well and actually held up for a whole week. To be honest, we didn't need it to hold up that long, as long as it was inflated for the duration of the party, that's all that matters! In terms of the value, for what it's worth, with ordering ahead and being delivered straight to you, I thought it was a great deal! I received some quotes from balloon vendors for the exact same bundle and it was 4xs the price, so Michael's balloon bar worked out just fine for us. Just a couple things to keep in mind: we ordered 4 separate bundles and all 4 were completely tangled together when we received it. Luckily, our amazing friend was able to help quickly untangle them. Not sure how this could have been prevented, but just a heads up in case you need ample time to untangle before your event! Also, when ordering ahead, you have to pick a delivery time window instead of an exact time- this means the balloons can come earlier than expected or at the tail end of the time window. You can try to call and coordinate with the store, which is what I did, but still received it earlier than requested, which was OK. Earlier is better than late in my opinion. Hope this helps! If you need basic helium balloons for an event- I'd totally recommend giving their balloon bar a try. I'd personally place an order again in the future.

Music is often playing in the background while you concentrate on your painting. My only recommendation for improvement is to provide a more sturdy plate or tray for the paint. Currently customers just squirt the paint on a card stock paper (similar to the size of a large index card) and are supposed to take that back to the table for painting pottery. It would feel much more secure and sturdy to carry with an actual tray or paper plate for the paint. I also felt like the paint was dripping off the edges of the paper since there was no lip and paint colors kept merging together since the paper index card wasn't laying flat. They also could have offered a few more paint color options. All in all, it was a great experience and so nice to have a crafty activity close to home. Pottery is usually ready for pick up within 1 week. Candles are ready to be taken home same-day.
